The Repubs created the Trump virus, a hardened iteration of every ugly racist misogynist xenophobic trope they’ve been doing their best to mainstream since at least 1965. And now the superbug might actually manage to destroy — or at least seriously weaken — its host incubator.
Could not happen to a more deserving bunch of scheming thugs.

Good Morning ?, Everyone ?
Schlemazel
I learned yesterday that management intends to let all my contractors go so they can be replaced by ones on the East Coast. That will leave at least 2 employees out on the frozen tundra supposedly running the work being done by the new folks. It may also seriously screw one employee we have had working with us for a year with the promise of a job once everything is cleared up (or we may be 3 people all alone out here).
In addition to the anger I feel over being lied to and manipulated I am conflicted about what to tell the good people I have working for me and when to tell them. I am sure managements intent is just to cut them loose one day and that is not fair to them.
Schlemazel
@Schlemazel:
And there is a lot more to it than just that. For instance, if they do finally offer a job to the kid they have been stringing along on a promise there is absolutely not job growth for him unless he moves his family out East near the sr. managements places. And the sr management loves to micro-manage so when I say we will be managing the East coast staff I mean we will be hearing from that staff what those guys told them to do after they have done it. Plaus other complications

I am just going to copy and paste an email I just sent a few minutes earlier after watching this video to a friend down in Alabama.
OK, sometimes these are lame, but I swear, this one is an absolute thing of beauty. It is ripped from and directly quotes the events of the past two days, as Trump in a love fest on stage with Hannity experimented with “pivoting” on amnesty for Mexican rapists, and one could see the audience drop their jaws and drawers in disbelief. Here is my comment on YouTube:
The Best One Yet. This so completely nails Trump to the wall. It was a thing of beauty to watch the audience’s dawning disbelief and confusion as Trump tried to pivot, basically announcing a plan that was the EXACT DUPLICATE of what Obama has been doing, of the Gang of Eight attempt to integrate immigrants into society and collect taxes. An even greater thing of beauty yesterday was watching Man Coulter pump her new book, even as the one third rail item in it, she could not support Trump if he “pivoted” on immigration, was happening even as her “book” was released. She looked like she had just been handed a tin of sour, rotten sardines, and been forced to eat them. I just love the taste of Schadenfreude in the morning.

@Schlemazel: I was in that position repeatedly as my former corporation went through wave after wave of layoffs, offshoring, and consolidation to “low cost centers” Stateside. Since I couldn’t tell anyone if they were on the RIF list (mostly because I never knew specifically who, until it was me ;) I would answer the rumors by saying to “always plan for a job to be temporary when you work in the field we do”. And also that ultimately, to the suits it was a numbers game, so your first priority should be yourself and family, even if that meant looking for a new job elsewhere. My team mostly got it.
Kay
It’s too late to retract or correct the information they put out – she has to win despite this ridiculous “analysis” that they all took seriously- but boy, does it remind me of Bill Clinton’s two terms. Years-long investigations when they had nothing. Nothing.
It bugs the hell out of me because it violates a basic rule. They have to find something. “Investigations” can’t be treated the same no matter if they find something or not. That has to matter or what’s the point? If the investigation alone is enough then why even do one? Just say “we think something bad happened here but we have no evidence”
This is exactly what they did with Benghazi. They investigated and when they didn’t find anything they treated a “no wrongdoing” conclusion exactly the same as a finding of wrongdoing. Do they not see how bad that is? How there has to be a distinction between “investigation- no conclusion” and “investigation- found evidence of something”?

The problem is when a Dem humiliates a republican, like Howard Dean used to do, the media goes ape shit.
I remember back in 2007 Harry Reid called Dubya a “loser”. It was true – right. Dubya was a Jonah and a miserable failure. Well, Broder went ape shit calling for Reid to resign (no joke). Imagine, call on a Majority Leader to resign over a mild insult. Of course, you never heard Lord Broder call for Cheney’s resignation after he told Pat Leahy “go fuck yourself”.
The republicans get a free pass from the media so Trump received carte blanche to trash his opponents.

I know the legal process isn’t journalism but this “guilt by insinuation” drives me crazy because it’s unfair-it’s unjust.
I investigate and then write reports for judges sometimes in the course of my work. I start with a set of things the people involved could have done- these things that might have happened are either actual accusations or charges or just “things people said happened”. It’s complicated and I won’t bore you with the details but juvenile cases in Ohio often don’t have juries so this is a “neutral fact-finder” function process protection, this investigation and report and conclusion.
If I don’t find anything my conclusion isn’t treated the same as if I did find something! Why have”fact finding” at all? We can all just say “this might have happened and that’s bad enough so treat it as it did and we’ll all go home”.

I get Michigan public radio in my car on my travels and they have solid statehouse coverage- state news. I appreciate that because so many newspapers have cut statehouse coverage. My youngest asked me about Hillary’s criminality and murderous ways. He’s earnestly asking, so we talked about “what people say” versus “what happened” and he seemed satisfied but it bothers me because he reads music sites. He plays the guitar and the baritone and he loves music. He watches amateur music critics and new bands on the internet- it’s like a whole genre of young people on the internet- “music people”.
So it bothers me because it’s pervasive enough to penetrate his insular 14 year old world. It IS fun to talk to him about it though because his questions are so straightfoward – “does she lie all the time?” :)

So Mika is really worked up that Jim Hines cannot 100% guarantee that Hillary’s server was never hacked, and that there was never any quid pro quo. The fact that there is no evidence of such is not good enough, she wants 100% assurance that there will never ever be proof of any such thing. She wants to know “what it says about a candidate, that this cannot be guaranteed?” She says she’s a democrat and this is very disturbing that the candidate has this problem, if it wasn’t for this Hillary would be way ahead, and this would be over. I guess this is a day where the narrative is going to be that she’s winning but only by a little because she is corrupt and untrustworthy.

Well, they don’t remember the nineties. They don’t have any context on the Clintons. “Context” doesn’t necessarily lead to “corrupt Clintons”. That’s why I was saying she might want to explain the context herself.
I noticed Cher did that. Cher said Hillary is reticent (“shy”) because she was so badly burned on her health care law that it left a scar. That’s favorable context. It’s also interesting. I don’t think there’s any downside to Clinton taking a risk like that. Tell her own story.

@Kay: yep. Team Clinton had to see these attacks coming it’s been no secret that republicans were going to go after the foundation or that Clinton Cash would bubble up to be considered respectable and full of serious accusations.
As I’ve commented before, I’m surprised how little there is. Since the foundation supported so many programs, I was expecting at least a few of them to have gone badly enough that they could be spun as theft. Or episodes to emerge that revealed that the Clintons treated foundation assets like personal assets. It’s nothing like that.
I’ve had enough, though, of this constant Clinton Rules bullshit where any loon gets to say any kooky thing and the press treats the absence of a smoking gun as further evidence that there was a cover up or that the Clintons are good at hiding things.

The Clintons should just get rid of the foundation today. The table has reached consensus, shut it down today, the appearance of corruption is the most important thing in the world. I got a shot in my shoulder when it was going bad, it was a powerful cortisone, with lidocaine to keep the injection process from causing pain. Both worked, and for a few hours after the procedure my shoulder was pain free… the lidocaine was numbing the pain nerves.
The cortisone helped for a couple of weeks. Then I got scheduled for a shoulder replacement. My retirement/state insurance covered all but about $300 – but the rehab took weeks. Went well, pain free now, nearly as useful as it was back before it wore out.
Mrs J had a knee replacement last March, and rehab went well. Her other knee is the bad one now… Medicare covered the expense. They got her up and walking the afternoon following her surgery; she spent 2 nights at the hospital, which has a unit dedicated to joint replacements with PT and all.
Just our experience the past 18 months.
