Good Morning.
No it’s not bad, we’ve had to put up with republicans pulling all kinds of sabotage and then had to listen to them and the media bleat about Obama’s unwillingness to work with them. So now we get to point and laugh as they scramble to get away from this shitstorm they’ve created.
Karma’s a bitch.

New PA poll, some of this looks too good to be true. But hey it will drive Trump nuts, because it puts his rust belt strategy at risk. From GOS Link

The past week started off dreadfully for Trump and has gone downhill precipitously from there. And has not hit bottom yet. The Republican powers-that-be are showing the same degree of political intelligence and courage that led to Trump’s nomination in the first place. And this is just the first week since the end of the conventions– it just feels longer.
hovercraft
Trump needs to slow down his meltdown, we are missing his surrogates going on TV to do damage control. There was Ben Carson on CNN telling us that the Khans should apologize to Trump. Then there was Katrina Pierson blaming Obama and Clinton for Captain Khan’s death, then forced on air to say she was wrong. We need time to laugh at their ineptitude, perhaps he’ll stay off the trail for a couple of days to let us get caught up.
EDIT links are to Crooks and Liars

@hovercraft:
Not impossible. Obama won Pennsylvania 55-44 in 2008. It was a bit closer in 2012, but a double-digit win isn’t out of the question. It only seems unlikely because there were a few polls earlier this year suggesting Trump might do well, and the bobbleheads latched onto them because Trump has very few options for winning if PA is off the table. The horserace must be served.
Besides the Presidential vote, PA and Ohio are important this year because those two states are among the worst gerrymandered in the country and the Democrats have to turn out big if they are to overcome this. Big wins here would give the Democrats two Senate seats and possibly 10 or more House seats.
magurakurin
@hovercraft: And the demos on that poll are whacked. 93% white. 2012 PA was 78% white. So, Clinton’s numbers are probably higher than in that poll. Without Pennsylvania Trump has no electoral path.

Even if Trump were to lose in a Goldwater-sized landslide, he will still claim that the election was rigged, and you can expect court challenges and calls for recounts in every state where he loses by less than ten percentage points. He will not go quietly, either; he’s going to hold a shadow inauguration and have himself sworn in by one of the Duck Dynasty guys or Sarah Palin, whichever one of them charges him the least for a public appearance.

Lurking Canadian
@geg6: It makes sense. Gerrymandering works because you spread your voters for maximum effect. You make sure your side wins a bunch of races 53-47 while the other team wins their (smaller) bunch of races 80-20.
As a result, a lot of those marginal gerrymandered seats could flip if the margin of victory for Clinton gets big enough.

@Mustang Bobby: Nah. Here’s the deal: If he loses in a landslide (and he should) the first order of business in the media will be assessing the devastation the Trumpnado has wreaked on the GOP. Meanwhile, the party itself will be busy pointing fingers and calling for summary executions. Trump’s inevitable tantrum will be rightly viewed as a lingering symptom, and embarrassing reminder, of the mental illness that destroyed the party. Trump will soon be back on the fringe, where he belongs, spending his remaining days hunting for the GOP’s real killers.
SFAW
It’s a GREAT morning! Now that the polls have determined that Trump lost, getting only about 110 EV, the Senate is now 60/40 D/R, and the House is now ~270/170 D/R.
Wait — there’s still 95 days to go? So Hillary hasn’t won yet? Well, thank FSM that nothing could possibly go worng between now and Election Day. I mean, with the MSM doing everything they can to support Hillary’s candidacy, and Roger Stone having renounced his ratfucking ways, and the collective IQ of the electorate having jumped up 20-30 points, it’s clear sailing ahead.
I'mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet
@Mustang Bobby:
Oh, he’ll yell and scream about how “unfair” it is, but that’s all he’ll do. Court cases like that cost real money. He won’t spend real money unless he has to, and nobody sensible will give him money to do it on his behalf. He’ll hope to go on talk radio and cable TV, but I think his 15 minutes of fame will be long over by then (except to the dead-enders).
Look at the way he did his Birther stuff. Lots of noise, but very little real action. It’ll be the same way
ifwhen he loses in November. The Teabaggers will drop him faster than they dropped W – he’ll be a non-entity by March 1.My $0.02.

I also remember how Bill Clinton was going to stomp Bob Dole by 15-20 percent, and so on. I’m not worried about Juicers voting, I’m a bit worried that the bulk of Dem supporters will see the polls and decide “Hey, it’s in the bag,” and then not show up, GOTV or no.

Wow. Amazing performance. She kept trying to blame Clinton and Obama, or Obama or Clinton, and excuse Trump. And then doubled down on lies and smeared the Khan’s some more. She certainly earned her money as a Trump surrogate by acting exactly like he would.

What I particularly love, in a deeply schadenfreudey way, is remembering how I felt back about 2002-2003 when it looked like the the Karl Rove machinations would perhaps really create a permanent Republican/Confederate majority of the deeply stupid and the deeply selfish. It did work out to be their permanent coalition, but, come to find out, it’s not a majority after all. Sweet!

As I read all these optimistic polls, I can’t help but wonder if we’re seeing the Bradley Effect at work — people being embarassed to admit to a human pollster that they’re voting against the black, or in this case, sane, candidate.
Polls involving Obama supposedly showed that the Bradley Effect was dead, but, in this case, I’m not sure….
I’ve heard that Trump does better in automated polls, where there’s no human on the other end of the line to think nasty thoughts at you when you admit to considering voting for him.

I used to live in Harrisburg, PA. Since this was an engineering firm, almost all of my co-workers had at least a 4-year bachelor of science degree (pro-tip – never ever say that an engineer has a BA). So, most of them were reasonably well-educated. However, almost all of them were white males who grew up in the region. Harrisburg/York/Lancaster region is predominantly rural and they hated, hated, hated with a white hot intensity unions, gay people, and black people. This was the area where the Union army broke the back of the Confederacy yet one could see a lot of Confederate flags (as of 2005 when we moved away). I was very thankful that most of my co-workers were limited to one vote as their political power.
They also bragged about a tradition (probably not unique to the area) of the menfolk sitting their little compliant wifey down to tell the stupid missus how she should vote on the ticket. My first thought was always that the women could nod their heads, but once the curtain closes, they can damn well vote as they want.
So, I do worry that Trump will do better than the last couple of Republicans, but the combination of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and women throughout may still tip the state to Clinton.
Also, I love the way Trump is staying in the news. I wonder though if he can keep this Trumpster fire going until the election…
