Count your blessings….I just got done burying our late best boy Eric, shown here relaxing in the sunshine…better days. He was 19 and it was his time, but it doesn’t make it easier. Took him in as a stray kitten when the daughter unit was four, and can still remember him pouncing on my feet while I was lying in bed. Here he’s shown with his pal and companion CeeCee, keeping me company while I was seriously ill.
We miss him.

@satby: I have thought about, but, no, I don’t have my own blog.
@Hungry Joe: This–Steve is like this blog’s cat which kind of makes him commenter’s cat too–the way bookstore cats are loved by frequent customers (there is a lovely white cat at my favorite bookstore, and if he wasn’t there, I think I would feel terrifically worried.)

When my friend who rescues kittens and cats first moved into her house one of the cats managed to learn how to leave the house despite all the screens she put up to try to keep them in. Well, this cat kept getting out and kept going across the street. Cassie figured out the cat liked the people (the new neighbors) and wanted company. So Cassie gave them a large kennel so they could confine him and put him on Cassie’s porch. (Cassie worked the late shift at the hospital and got home around 1-2 AM.)

Well, it finally happened: FYWP ate one of my comments. I was starting to feel left out…
What I said was:
Whew, Steve is home and we can all relax. And, hey, at least he didn’t come home covered in pine sap and burrs.
@danielx: What a gorgeous fellow! 19 years – you did good by him. I don’t know how much it helps to know that; it’s usually a comfort to me when I lose a fur person to old age.

Sonuvabeesh – FYWP has eaten two of my comments.

That’s not demonic. That’s hoping you’ll be fool enough to try and rub his soft underbelly, giving him a chance to wrestle your arm with tooth and claw.

We’re looking for a cat, or pair of kittens. So far none have shown interest in us. There’s an adult at the pet mart who’s so mellow I am not sure he’d show an interest in anything less than tuna. If we end up with him I plan to call him Stoner.

Cat door, right? then a fence to climb… well you know he wanted out, and at least he didn’t do more pine sap. Burrs, not the worst thing a cat can come back covered with.
One of ours spent all day under a truck with leaking seals, covered in motor oil and Transmission fluid/ needed a bath for reals, like those sea birds after a crude oil spill. Dawn dish soap and warm water, three baths and 2 rinses. Before digital cameras, all hands needed, so no pics, just use your imagination. He was so not happy about it.
Welding gloves which I use for to tend the woodstove. And bathe the cat if required.

Jesus christ, Cole, stop letting your cats outside. They go missing a few times per year, kill innocent local wildlife, and this is 100% preventable.
