Copa America Third Place Game Colombia v USA Open Thread

it’s the very definition of anticlimax, but it’s also a chance for the USA to claim its best finish in this tournament and reclaim some honor.

OK, explain to me what Tim Howard is doing there? Has he been on the bench? Is the other guy better?

Not much interest in this one I guess.

@raven: Howard hasn’t played much this whole calendar year and is old. Guzan also hasn’t played that much this year. Both were terrible for their club teams. Klinsmann also holds grudges when older players choose to take time off from the National team.

My guess is this will be Howard’s last game for the US

Anyone else think Klinsmann hasn’t been playing Nagbe much because too many fans were clamoring for his presence and Klinsmann needs to show he knows soccer.

@raven: i would say Cole’s bigfooting it didn’t help, but there wasn’t much talk there either. Probably people other than me have lives

@BillCinSD: I’ve been here for most games and there hasn’t been much action.

@raven: yeah, but generally hasn’t been too bad when the US played

I’ve got to disagree with your assessment of Guzan (not so much Howard, but damn, he does play well for the national team). Aston Villa absolutely stunk in front of Guzan- given some defense, he’s more than serviceable. IMO, anyway.

    BillCinSD says:

@Temporarily Max McGee (Soon Enough to Be Andy K Again): he made a huge number of mistakes this season at Villa. Both the defense and Guzan fed off each other’s crappiness
