Via the New Orleans Time Picayune elections have consequences. And for once in the South they are good outcomes:
Department of Health and Hospitals will begin the massive task Wednesday (June 1) of enrolling 375,000 people into the state’s expanded Medicaid program. The department’s goal is to get Medicaid insurance cards into the hands of more than half of the people eligible for the program by July 1.

Ha! Take that, Bad Guys!
But alas, they will regroup and attack/defend the next battle.

I will say this, despite his obvious flaws, Gov. Edwards is trying his best to deal with the crap hand that Jindal and the Rep. Legislature dealt him. I don’t hold out hope that Edwards will win a second term because I think too many people in the South just do not want to vote for Democrats until they abandon liberals, minorities, and women again (like it’s even possible for that to happen now)

Eat shit, Bobby Jindal. I hope he lives to see all the damage he caused get reversed.

Freaking finally.

Louisiana, like many deep South states, has high rates of stroke and STIs. Good primary care can alleviate the suffering these conditions cause, through screening, treatment, and lifestyle modification. The time it takes to see benefit tends to exceed election cycles, unfortunately.

Once again, I think that when history is written, Pres. Obama will go down as perhaps the greatest president, having the most powerful impact on the most Americans since LBJ.

@Thoroughly Pizzled:
I’m fine with the inverse –he chokes on a chicken head during a santeria exorcism and doesn’t have the opportunity to see the people take their state back.

@trollhattan: I am okay with this.

Even if Edwards is not re-elected it will be difficult to impossible for the GOP to grab this back, as they have feared all along, so something lasting is gained.

This really is good news, everyone.

Your spelling mistake may be picayune, but the word is spelled p-i-c-a-y-u-n-e.
No One You Know
And now Piyesh is himself picayune; when did the Onion start scooping the Times-Picayune and the Post?
