Per yesterday’s post, the Old Town Bar seems to have at least two votes. It’s said to be easy to reach by public transit, the burgers are good, there’s a quiet area upstairs that’s good for conversation. On the negative side, those stairs may be a problem for some potential participants.
Anyone want to weigh in, pro or con? (Still room for other suggestions, if you got ’em.)

ooh. I’m only an infrequent commenter, but that’s a great bar – I used to live around the corner.

The Old Town Bar is a New York gem. It’s the last of the old time saloons. It’s a must see. And the burgers are super.

Don’t let the stairs stop you. I worked with a lady confined to a wheelchair who wanted her departure luncheon in a place with stairs. Two of our gentlemen carried her up the stairs, chair and all, and then down. It was an ordinary low-tech wheelchair. If the fancy ones are very heavy, you could leave it in the custody of the manager or bouncer and just carry the person up and down.

@Pogonip: love that ! Old Town won’t let you ride in their dumbwaiter – we’ve asked more than once :)- but maybe they’d help with the carrying upstairs part.

Old Town is fine with me. Used to be in the Letterman montage show opener. IIRC.

Ok with me.

@SarahT: Or just invite the biggest guys you know.

bizarrely, since I live multiple thousands of miles away, I’ve been to the Old Town Bar several times and can testify to the fine quality of their burgers and the historic atmosphere.

@Pogonip: I’m on it !

I must’ve walked by here when I lived close by, but I don’t remember it.
I would not be adverse to having a meetup here, starting around 6 PM. Any idea if we can block out some space?
SarahT
@PsiFighter37:Not sure but if they do, it would be upstairs.

I can’t wait. I love that place. See you there!

It’s a legendary NYC bar. We could do a lot worse.

@SarahT: The League of Extraordinarily Nice Gentlemen is pretty big, you’ll have no trouble finding help.

Great place. I’m in.

Won’t be able to join, but was a long time NYer, can vouch for that bar. You would be hard pressed to find a more suitable bar for a conversation given how most bars have TVs, crowds, music blaring. Usually not jam-packed either.

Is it to late to RSVP my coming to the meetup? what time is it?
Gary
If it’s not too late to RSVP, I plan to attend with my wife, Kathleen. Will it be at 6 p.m or some other time?
