The age old dilemma. What do you do when you hate both teams (Caps and Pens), and it’s no longer socially acceptable (for some reason) to root for injuries?
I hate the Caps more than the Pens, so I guess Go Pens? Celz/Hocks game should be wickad good, as long as Bahstahn plays smaht.
Good nite for sports. Also, fuck the NFL and their CTE-in-10-years recruitment…
ETA: Hawks favored in this game? WTF?

@p.a.: @LAO: Good suggestions. I think I’m going to root against the Caps, since I live in DC and have to deal with way more insufferable Caps fans than I do Pens fans.
Can someone explain the NBA to me? I used to love it. Absolute favorite sport. And now I can’t stand to watch it. It’s weird, like I want to watch it, but when I do, I’m immediately repelled by the style of play and the officiating.
That said, go Celts! Who are terrible to watch or even listen to on the radio.

Excuse me–as a DC area resident, the CAPS are our only winning team. And worse our new baseball team in nicknamed the Nats, rhyming with gnats. So you can understand why we needs the CAPS to win.

@dedc79: I’ll join you in rooting against the caps. But really don’t care.
I hope there’s someone decent left by the time the Bears pick.

It’s Grateful Dead night at Fenway. Happily, patchouli doesn’t come through the TV.

@redshirt: The game is way faster and much less physical than it was 10-20 yrs ago. Every little contact is called. Game seems boring compared to what I remember from the 90s.
One of the legal secretaries in my firm is a Celtics cheerleader. It’s always fun to watch the male of the species in my office run to opine and exclaim to her their fealty to the Celtics the morning after, no matter what happens. I wonder why? hahahaha no, I don’t. Tomorrow morning will be another data point.

@the Conster, la Citoyenne: My mom’s atty defended the Garden in a suit around an incident with Kurt Rambus.
He had the entire city of Boston ready to testify as character witnesses against Rambis. We hate the Lakers as much as the Yankees.

@the Conster, la Citoyenne: I was at a Lakers/Celtics NBA Final game in, uhm, ’85? Nosebleed seats behind a column at one end of the Garden, but I was there.

@redshirt: The cybercave™ has lighting, heating and security that is computer(including cell phones) controlled. These things can also be controlled and monitored remotely, so the internet is required to be Always ON.
@the Conster, la Citoyenne: Used to, to both. The Lakers rivalry is greatly muted if not gone, and even the Yankees don’t generate much juice these days. The most hated object in Boston sports these days is Roger Goodell.

My dream for tonight’s Draft: Belichick rushes the podium after pick 31 and picks “Fuck You Goodell, quarterback, Fuck Off University.”
I lived in Coventry, next to Storrs from ’89 to ’97 raising two young girls. Those UConn girls were such huge heroes.. Rebecca Lobo, Kara Wolters, Sue Bird, Nykesha Sales, Jen Rizzotti, then Diana Taurasi who may have been the best of all, were rock stars. Everyone knew the names of all of the men and women players.

One of the things I loved about watching her was that on top of the excellence, she always looked like she was just having a great time playing the game.

It’s professional basketball. Like Red Auerbach said, “put the ball in the hole.” You try to do that more times than your opponent does.

@Punchy: I’ve seen some Golden State games this year and they were enjoyable. Everything else is like random fouls.
I think the isolation play really hurt the sport.
