.@Reince You really should take your hands away from your eyes and watch what your guys are up to next time. pic.twitter.com/dOz2DmauB5

Long tiring weekend and not in a fun way, but at least I don’t have Reince’s job!
Alison Rose
I don’t recall where I first saw it, and I wish I did because it’s pretty much the greatest thing, but whenever this douche starts spewing douchiness, I like remembering that if you remove the vowels from his name, the remaining letters, in order, are:
RNC PR BS
Thing of beauty.
Jerzy Russian
It is really immature of the GOP candidates to talk about the sizes of their peckers. Besides, President Obama would win that contest too:

Loving the new season of House of Cards

Getting ready to fit in a workout after the 16 hour day from hell. Vegas is very, glittery but I’m not getting the appeal. Heard there was a debate between to rational, albeit flawed, people. Has the country voted to have the GOP all self-immolate yet? Put me down as “pro”.

@Nate Dawg: How many episodes into it are you?
Anne Laurie
@Alison Rose: I love the RNC PR BS meme too!
First place I saw it was at Charlie Pierce’s blog — he could well be the original quipster.

Perhaps nothing is more important and relevant in the Reince Priebus personal and political world than comparative dick size. Perhaps his worldview is anchored in the resolution of all conflict by a side-by-side physical comparison and that’s what happens in the mensrooms of power. Illuminating that he would mention a debate not going on about the subject being “out of touch” — his pride in his team’s touching them publicly just shines though.
Nate Dawg
@Mingobat f/k/a Karen in GA: just watching the third right now. But I like the campaign story and the rivalry between the two so far. It’s much less complicated too, which I appreciate.
Cacti
Bernie Sanders, scourge of the financial sector, proudly accepts endorsement of Keating five member Don Riegle.
WTF?
amk
for how many decades more, will the rethugs be peddling the “out-of-touch” meme?
Mingobat f/k/a Karen in GA
@Nate Dawg: I just finished the sixth. It gets even better. Now I’m just wondering if it’ll maintain, or if it’s peaked and it’s downhill from here. I shall tune in tomorrow to find out.
BillinGlendaleCA
I just finished watching the last of Mythbusters; as was said on the reunion special, the cave here must be a bit dusty. I’m really going to miss that show.
seaboogie
Kind of makes me wish I were a Twitterer….”Hey Rince* – your leader is talking about his peener.” Heh. Heh-heh-heh-heh….(a la Beavis and Butthead).
*Mis-spell intentional
seaboogie
@BillinGlendaleCA: I haven’t had the teevee for some few years, but that was a great show. Always thought that those fellers had landed their dream job. Any idea what they are off to next?
BillinGlendaleCA
@seaboogie: I guess they’ll go back to doing the special effects work they did before Mythbusters.
Nate Dawg
@Mingobat f/k/a Karen in GA: nice! Just finished the episode and wow. She’s even crazier than he is!
Redshift
@amk:
All of them, Katie. It’s of a piece with loudly declaring that “the American people are demanding” something that polling shows they’re 60%, 70%, 80% against. They have to maintain the illusion (and in many cases, self-delusion) that they’re the majority, that everyone agrees with them, so it must be unfair or cheating if they don’t get what they want.
If they let go of that, they might have to compromise, or check the results of their ideology against reality, or admit when they’re wrong, or any number of other uncomfortable things.
raven
Well my, we’re back.

@ruemara:
Too funny…was out there a couple weeks ago with the same feeling about Las Vegas and the same response (working out, partially due to disinterest in everything else out there)
Well, ok, I did lose my obligatory $40 at roulette. That’s about all I can stand.

I was unable to load Balloon Juice for a few hours today. What happened?

Feed the gerbils.

@Amir Khalid: Yet another reason I would never, ever cast my vote for Hillary.
Mingobat f/k/a Karen in GA
@Nate Dawg: Not saying a word.
Punchy
This site was completely borked for mobile loading. I’m guessing DKos threw a DDS to BJ b/c they’re PO’d that this POS is better than their PITA DNC and HRC bashtastic POS.
WaterGirl
@Punchy: It wasn’t just mobile. Yay for balloon juice being back!
The Republic, Blah Blah Blah...
Well, in Reince’s defense…
Given just how far to the insane right his party’s gone, almost anyone NOT going insane w/ them would appear to be on the extreme left…
I have to say… his mother and father had a strange sense of humor, naming Reince…
C.V. Danes
When you’re to the right of Atilla the Hun, everything looks extreme left.
Howlin Wolfe
@seaboogie: Just don’t repeat it.
ETA: The misspelling, that is.
DesertFriar
@The Republic, Blah Blah Blah…: @C.V. Danes: @C.V. Danes
..his mother and father had a strange sense of humor, naming Reince…

His parents were Dentists. Could have been worse, younger sister is named Spit.
SFAW
@The Republic, Blah Blah Blah…:
I think it’s actually a nickname for “Reinhard,” his given name. Well, in some parts of Dumbfuckistan, it’s a nickname — America, not so sure.
SFAW
@dr. bloor:
Oh, cut the crap. You KNOW that the correct response is “Thanks, Obama!”
Must I ‘splain EVERYTHING? You kids ….
El Caganer
Try saying his name quickly several times; after one or two, I started saying “Prince Rhebus.”
SFAW
@El Caganer:
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Rancidp3nis!
Calouste
@SFAW: It is. Then again, Reinhard Priebus sounds the name for a Nazi 1st lieutenant who has two lines in a war movie before he gets shot, so…
The Republic, Blah Blah Blah...
@C.V. Danes: My point exactly…
Bill Murray
@efgoldman: Riegle was also responsible for a huge amount of banking regulation, FIRREA (“the toughest financial reform in 5o years”), the Thrift and Bank Fraud Prosecution Act, the FDIC Improvement Act, and the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act, so seems like he would be not unreasonable for someone with Sanders’ policies to be backed by.
Also, Riegle turned 78 about a month ago, so he’s not too old
SFAW
@Calouste:
Maybe he thought “Priebus” was less Aryan-sounding than “Heydrich.”
The Republic, Blah Blah Blah...
@SFAW: Yeah, but only a little… very, very little…
RaflW
I’m pretty sure @Reince is a bot, because it just strings together a collection of trite, largely meaningless phrases from campaigns past. Totally disconnected from what is actually going on. And eminently mockable.
Prebus should be out on his ass for total incompetence (as should DWS over at the DNC). These political hacks are showing their bellies, time to finish them off (career-wise, I mean).
Hal
Was Michael Steele any better at his job than Rinse Pubics? I don’t seem to remember him being as smarmy.
The Other Chuck
It’s true, the Dem debates do appear out of touch … with the screaming frothing gibbering hategasms of the right. Glad to be well out of touch range there, Priebus, and I still think most voters are too.
daves910
Most people realize that these days the party chairs are pretty much an irrelevance. As long as they don’t do anything too embarrassing they get to hang around. If the job had any real importance certainly DWS would be out. In his memoirs I hope Obama tells us why he kept her on.
Kryptik
@Hal:
Michael Steele was a bit of a hack (I know, understatement), but he had something approaching human decency, which clearly overqualified him for the job.
glory b
@daves910: I thought the state party chairs and a few other party leaders voted for the chairperson.
I’m not certain, but pretty sure the President doesn’t appont them.
Of course, that also doesn’t mean he couldn’t pressure her to resign.
What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
Democrats may be out of touch Reince, but that beats you’re party where there’ll probably be talk of or actual inappropriate touching at the next debate.
Lurking Canadian
I would be interested to know when “We ought not to subject our children to lead poisoning” became a “far left” position. Seems like it ought to be the kind of thing that’s grounded in bipartisan comity.
SFAW
@What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?:
As long as they don’t do the hogan dance …
Sad_Dem
@Lurking Canadian: “We’ll subject other people’s children to lead poisoning to save about a quarter million bucks” is in the GOP platform.
Theodore Wirth
Could be worse? I hope not. If you had that empty suit’s job you would not be whineblogging. After all I have been through I would consider that job in a heartbeat–half-assed lying for a comparatively generous paycheck?
