Progress!
Also, these two dogs are hilarious.
(Of course what the black dog is really “saying” to the photographer is “Okay, you are dominant over me. But I am totally dominant over this guy!!!”… which is a little less sweet than the final shot might imply. Still a great clip!)

Yay Manned and Womanned exploration of space!

The ice moons of Saturn are far more interesting then these inner worlds.

This seems on-topic: The moon tonight.
ETA: Now I really want the 600-1300mm zoom lens.

Within Copernicus’s crater we shall colonize Luna. There’s water in them there craters!

Just watching StarTalk and who knew, David Crosby was a fan of space and time.

Yes Hello Star Trek and Star Wars also, too.

This is a bit late to be posting this idea, but perhaps the best antidote to Trump is for Black and Latino church groups to send their congregants as good-will ambassadors to talk to people waiting in line at Trump rallies. They spend hours waiting in line, and I think really overwhelming friendliness and taking the high ground might help get through. Such actions would explicitly *not* be protests. I’m not religious so I don’t know the term, but I assume it’s something like “fellowship” — reaching out to fellow Christians to bond over their faith.

@BR:
I see the flaw already.
@Tommy:
Then there’s this guy… Honestly, watching him geek out over the Pluto data was worth it.
BR
@Yutsano:
Is it that Trump supporters aren’t particularly religious? Not a problem — they probably still think of themselves as Christians. I think that the only way to break through is to reach them on a one-on-one personal level, and the only thing that can transcend race / ethnicity for folks like that is their religious affiliation.

Send Confederates to Pluto!

@Yutsano: Well he is an astrophysicist(I hear he played in some band too).
Amir Khalid
@BR:
I think what Yutsano means is that Trump’s following might well see themselves as Christians, but would they see an African-American church lady or a Latin Catholic man as fellow Christians?
Mike J
@Amir Khalid: A Trump spokeswoman posted an anti Catholic tweet the other day. Laughing at how sad Catholics are for believing Jesus founded the Church.

Did Biden just go off the reservation?
France gets the nod.
And this.

@BR:
They’d need to go in realizing that their lives are in danger. This, of course, hasn’t necessarily stopped people before.
Elizabelle
@BR: I actually think that’s a great idea.
We tend to stereotype Trump voters here. I think a one to one approach; peeling them off, has merit.
(Although peeling them off so they can support Ted Cruz or another Republican — the problem is them voting Republican, which worships and coddles mammon over all.)
Getting them to stay home? Now that could work …
Marcia
In 1960, a PR guy from NASA came to guest-lecture our fifth grade class. I remember him saying that ‘any one of you could grow up to be an astronaut’; someone asked if that included the girls and he answered that yes, it does.
I’ve often wondered about that day since. It’s beyond unlikely that anyone from NASA would tell a bunch of 10-year-olds anything not intended for the public; what I’ve guessed is that this man had a daughter who had asked him that more than once.
Matt McIrvin
@Marcia: NASA started flying female astronauts just in time for some of those girls to be in the first groups.
