Orphan Black’s 4th episode of the new season was on point yet again. The crew has really dialed things up quite a bit for this third season. Tatiana Maslany is perfection.
@redshirt: Last July or August, I think. Was trying to remember that the other day. Guess I didn’t care enough to follow up on it. Think it’s about time to drop the +0 stuff from my name. I’m just John Cole now.
I just can’t sleep because I had a bunch of iced coffee after an afternoon nap, if that is what you are getting at. So, this is self-inflicted.

I don’t follow the music biz much, including Paul Simon, but this January 2014 account of an interview with Steven Van Zandt (aka “Little Steven”) came up recently on Twitter,* and man-oh-man, I didn’t realize what a hypocritical shitbag Simon was in reality.
I agree with a Guy Graham in the comments on the link provided. The “Graceland” album got me aware of Africa, in a culturally appreciative way, and aware of what was going on in a South Africa in a way I could not connect with on news casts.
I was in middle school, when the album came out and just figuring out my own taste in music and what influences would be considered “cool” and “Graceland” fell into the cool category.
Despite Simons willful stupidity in taking Kissinger seriously, Africa was very much portrayed as the Dark Continent, when I was growing up and “Graceland” helped brake through that thinking with music from Africa that showed some of the cultural beauty of the place and got Ladysmith Black Mambazo enough popularity to help highlight what was going on in South Africa to a wider audience.

It used to be intermittent, but now it is becoming rather consistent that afternoon caffeine will screw with my sleep cycle. Over the last 5 days, my evening’s sleep has been rather crap. So yesterday, my last bit of caffeine was 9 o’clock in the morning.
This last night I was able to sleep 9 hours, just getting up a few moments ago. It’s Mother’s Day and it’s going to be a pretty busy day at the bakery.
The wind is a blowin’ up in Cloquet tonight. How do I know? Because I’ve been getting a Force Entry at the facility up there alarm about every minute for the last five hours as it rattles the door. I’m watching it on CCTV and nothing else is happening, just the trees swaying.
I have to document every one of the fuckers and there’s no way to get the annoying alarm ping from the computer to stop.

@Keith G: My daily amount and timing of caffeine will affect me, much more than my wife, and she will playfully tease me about that when she wants, say, tea or Coke at 6 or 7 pm!
My cutoff is about 1pm-2pm, arrived at by exhaustive research.

And Happy Mother’s Day again, also, too!
I’m hosting the day here at home. My mom and mother-in-law will be here, both in their eighties, both widows. I would rather we all go out for brunch or dinner, but they hate crowds and waiting in lines, and Mother’s Day is a mess of people everywhere. So I’m cooking.
Best wishes to all, and many thanks to the Moms out there. Two of my sons will be here to celebrate; one is in El Salvador with Habitat International. Hoping to Facetime him later!

Whatever Simon is paying his PR machine to so effectively bury something like this, it ain’t enough.

Hey Cole, you see where the Pirates pulled off the first 4-5-4 triple play in major league history yesterday?
