I gave my Inji kitteh a bath and butt fur cut. It was a two person operation and I survived without any mishap, thank Ceiling Cat.

We gave our terrier/weasel a butt cut and bath. What a job. Wow, does he cry and howl. Fortunately, the windows were closed. No one reported animal abuse. Definitely, four hands good.

I know sooner congratulate Roger Goodell for his new policy than Ray McDonald of the Niners is arrested for domestic violence.
@gussie: You should read the thread below this one, on the post :”Superfood is Killing California.” All kinds of facts about almonds and agriculture in California.
So in Shane (movie staring Alan Ladd) The scene where he (the hero) goes up against the bad guy and calls him a dirty Yankee…….? I’m thinking they weren’t referencing the baseball team?

My wife’s application for SSI was approved this past week. Applying; getting rejected; hiring a lawyer; collecting documentation from doctors; planning for a court hearing… It took a year, which I’m told is fast. The process was short-circuited by a judge’s approval, according to our lawyer. Not that it’s a lot of money, but Medicare is part of the package, which may help in the future. So, yay!

@Bill E Pilgrim: I never noticed the similarity before between that scene and this one. Just occurred to me.
The tentative musical probing, the call and response, learning each other’s language.
Would be a fun mash up to combine them. The part where the aliens turn into Earl Scruggs would be the best.

My first college roommate was from an almond ranch in the San Joaquin Valley. He pronounced the word “aaa-mond”, with the same a you’d hear in bad.
I’m a little confused, though. Social Security disability benefits come with Medicare. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits come with Medicaid, at least in some states. The first two benefits require paying into the system enough, aside from being aged or disabled. The latter two require essentially poverty, in addition to being aged or disabled. I hope your wife has the first two, not the latter two.
@Bill D.: Thanks! And sorry, I misspoke. You’re right, it’s Social Security disability plus Medicare (for my wife’s disability, which I wrote about a while ago.)
Yeah only sorta though, as you say. They just launch right in, whereas what struck me about those other scenes was the similarity in the playing a few notes, listening for an answer, trading fours, or well trading ones, and so on. Both being about dealing with an alien culture, to one degree or another, trying to bridge that gap.

@RSA: I remember. That was fast for an approval, but clearly it was an ALJ with some sense. I think about you and you bride regularly. You’re a great partner.

@RSA: Sorry about her disability but glad to hear she has benefits. I worked as an SSI claims rep long ago and those folks did not have it easy, with the twin burdens of poverty and an intrusive means-tested program to deal with.
@Bill D.: I can only imagine. Our social safety net is… complicated.

Today when the rains finally stopped I decided to do a round of miniature golf. Normally I wouldn’t do such a thing but I figured my father needed to get out of the house. One time long ago he or other family members would take us kids to do miniature golf. This time I returned the favour. He is feeling a bit better. So yeah miniature golf with boats, odd angles, fake holes that are tubes that lead to another part of the course. That sort of thing.

@Chickamin Slam: I did that on a weekend trip a month ago. It was really fun. Haven’t played it for a long time and really enjoyed it.

@efgoldman: You can’t march with an oboe despite what Sousa thinks. The reed is too fragile. So had to do something for marching. Turns out my long-windedness has another purpose.

So Rick Perry’s VERIFIED twitter account tweeted a meme pic about the Dem DA lady he tried to get to resign.
It was pretty juvenile and re-tweeted alot.
Welp, Perry deleted the tweet and tweeted this:
If you want to see the original tweet, here it is.
