Yesterday, at a different venue, I managed to predict the exact score of a game for the first time during this tournament (2-1 Ivory Coast vs. Japan). It was also the first time I didn’t watch the actual game at all… Sometimes I think that it’s extremely easy to overthink soccer and that makes the predictions worse… anyway, without any deeper thoughts… 1-0 Switzerland.
So far, it seems like betting on European teams is maybe not the best idea. Today will be interesting because Ecuador and Honduras are pretty bad but I bet at least one of them gets a point.

@Stan Gable: Italia paid off for me yesterday and I wouldn’t count out Les Bleus. That said, Losing Ribery was a quest que cest moment for France. I’m agnostic on the result, just want to see good futbal

I suspects this match will be decided by whose defense was careless more times than the other.
@tsquared2001: I think they look fabulous. The men, that is. Whose looking at the shirts.

We may be in for the first draw of the 2014 World Cup. (I hope that jinxes it.)

Lovely save at a desperate time. It is funny how you go into a match without a rooting interest and then pick a side and guess what – I am an honorary Swiss citizen right now

@beltane: Hahaha. I got into futbol in 1982 since my teenage hormonal ass caught a bad case of lust for Paolo Rossi.
@raven: it actually is. i have scheduled them all ahead of time through Tuesday to start ten minutes before each game. I’ll finish the rest of the group stage soon.

Raw fish fondue sounds great!

The only two teams I have not seen play. Ecuador can’t win away from home and the Swiss are good.

@jeffreyw: You need some nuoc mam!

If the Swiss could get even a decent ball into the box they would be ahead

Is anyone watching the match in English? It seems to only be available on Verizon on a Spanish station.

@Patricia Kayden:
It’s on ABC.

@humboldtblue: Yes. They have been carrying the play and yet still losing
humboldtblue
@Stan Gable: Ecuador and Honduras are far from bad and no European team has ever won the cup in South America

@tsquared2001: They have connected on one of 16 crosses

De nada. The next game is on ABC, too, while the 6pm (EDST) game is on ESPN.

Finishing – the Swiss are the epitome of that lost art

So not a fan of the fitted shirts. All these guys look like they got some kind of tumors. Those abs gotta breathe
