For reals:
@froomkin @Johngcole WaPo editorial board knows how to spell "hemorrhaging."
— Charles Lane (@ChuckLane1) May 29, 2014
the washington post has never printed a typo
— Atrios (@Atrios) May 29, 2014
Once again, DougJ from 2009 will never be wrong:
I’m watching Monica Crowley and Pat Buchanan on the McLaughlin group and so help me God, I am praying for a dirty bomb in Georgetown.
These people will destroy us all.
Don’t be fooled by Obama — we are fucked.
Sociopaths. Although the spelling error misdirect is a more pedantic “OMG BLOGGERS USE FOUR LETTER WORDS,” so props to Chuckie for that.
And yes, this really happened. Why every blog does not have an “Our Failed Media Experiment” tag is beyond me.

Lane is on-point as always. Keep making that rag look good, Mr. Lane, someone has too.

Chuck Lane is ANOTHER guy whose head would look much better on a pike than on his shoulders.

A pet peeve of mine is people who correct grammar on texts tweets and blogs as a method of demonstrating their own brilliance (this is especially prominent with there their and they’re). I know whats right on most things but occasionally I’ll be typing fast and fuck up, knowing a few basic grammar rules and being able to spell certain words does not make you a fucking genius.

Shorter Lane: Hitler was a very good painter.

Just lies about what awaited us in Iraq. So, you know, no biggie.

Of course they know how to spell Hemorrhaging. It produces their favorite business-lunch tipple.

You go to war on Twitter with the argument you have, not the one you wish you had.

@Zam: Agree. I give all the attention typing shit in a comment box on the internet its due.

Ha! Lane can’t spell “hæmorrhaging”.

You can’t spell hemorrhaging without “hag,” Chuck, and you may well be one.

Haemorrhage. Or hæmorrhage if yer all fancy and stuff.

Chuck Lane never printed fantastical fabricated articles, right under his nose, in a magazine he was editing, … oh, wait.

I bet the Washington Post editorial board doesn’t know how to spell douchebag.
Betty Cracker
I wonder if the WaPo editorial board knows how to spell “supine, knob-polishing, neocon-enabling stenographers.” They could look it up. I believe Hiatt’s picture illustrates the entry in Merriam-Webster.

I wish I had figured out the twitter, I’d be sending Chuckie all the wapo misspellings and mistakes I could find
For years, the WAPO page on the Ruby Ridge standoff had it happening under Clinton instead of under Bush. I think Atrios waged a one-man campaign to get them to change it

‘FDR In Bed With Coed’
Washington Post printed that instead of ‘FDR In Bed With Cold’

It’s “haemorrhaging”.
You Americans and your American spelling. Hmph. ;)
This was too blatant to work as a red herring. Charles Lane has as much as admitted that The Washington Post printed a stupid editorial. This just confirms my long-held belief that Twitter would have been more aptly — or at least more honestly — named BrainFart.
David Koch
BWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA
Yeah, it was a real nail-biter.

Lane’s futile attempt at witty repartee aside, it’s still:

Cuz numbers are hard and Nate Silver has teh Ghey
Chuck Lane said Romney would outright win Florida (O by +1), Virginia (O by +4), and Colorado (O by +6) and marked as toss-ups states Wisconsin (O by +7)(!), Iowa (O by +5), and New Hampshire (O by +6).
If he was in any other line of work, instead of propaganda, he would be fired.
dmsilev
And Mr. Lane doesn’t seem to understand (or at least is pretending not to understand) that proofreading and spellchecking standards vary somewhat depending on the medium. For an article destined to a professional journal, I’ll proofread the living shit out of it, and probably a couple of my colleagues will do the same just in case I missed something. For an internal document, I’ll read it over once or twice to make sure there aren’t any glaring howlers. For a comment to a blog post, as long as there aren’t any red squiggly lines, I’m good. For a fucking tweet…
Jay C
@matt:
Well, to be honest, they may have been right the first time: but then, they had a lot more respect for the Presidency back then…..
But SRSLY, Lane’s best (only?) response to a critical tweet about the Post’s BS FP editorial is a gripe about the spelling of “hemorrhaging”??
Morzer
@Jay C:
Could have been worse: imagine what they might have made of “FDR in bed with severe cold”.
OGLiberal
@David Koch: What’s hilarious is that Obama won Ohio 51-48. So the poll was actually quite accurate. Yeah, 51 is closer to 50 than 45 is to 48, but doesn’t really matter because neither 45 nor 48 gets you the win and while Mitt overperformed the poll, so did Obama. Whatever, Obama won Ohio easy, which is something Mitt’s pollsters, Charles Lane, or the skewed polls nuts would have never predicted or expected, because all are reality denying fucking morons.

I would sooner stick needles in my eyes then defend wr0ng way Cole but WaPo stirs up a whole other type of disdain!

@David Koch: what is he even trying to say there? Doesn’t the shorthand “D+9” mean “The Democrats can be expected to win this district by nine points”? Why would that lead somebody to think a 50-45 Obama advantage would be suspicious?
Villago Delenda Est
@OGLiberal: Not to meniton Kkkarl Rove making a total buffoon of himself on election night on Faux, screaming about there’s no fucking way that Obama is winning Ohio when Faux’s own analysts had it called, because the outstanding ballots were all in urban areas trending seriously Obama.
Kkkarl Rove, SOOPER GENIOUS!

Is there any public support for an aggressive, interventionist foreign policy right now? I mean, outside of these 150 (or so) people?
I think most, the vast majority, would be absolutely horrified if they were to start that up again.
Lurking Canadian
@Villago Delenda Est: Oh, I can understand Rove’s reaction. I mean, haven’t you ever bought something on eBay, and then the guy just keeps your money and doesn’t ship it?
Villago Delenda Est

Typo picking twitter is the last refuge of scoundrels
Marc
@David Koch: Ha! You misspelled “Gallup.”
This invalidates your entire argument, meaning Chuck Lane was right about Ohio and Mitt Romney is actually our president.
David Koch
@Lurking Canadian: the parenthesis are my short hand annotation of the actual results. For example, he said Wisconsin was a toss-up, but actual result was an Obama win by 7 points. So in parenthesis I note the winner (O for Obama) and margin of victory (+7 for winning by 7 points). Together it reads as (O +7).
HugeEuge
WaPo editorial board knows how to spell “hemorrhaging.”
Possibly because so many articles have been written about WaPo using the word in question right before “money” Now that Bezos owns them I wonder how they are covering the Amazon-Hachette dispute.

Chuck Lane: spell checks -yes, fact checks – no. It’s obviously not good Beltway decorum to print lies with typos in them.

The bankrupt warmongers at the Post are truly disgusting. Not one has ever served a single day in uniform. Neither have any of their children. Not. One. Yet these soulless pigs have no compunction to send other sons and daughters to fight and die in bloody quagmires they create.
eldorado
@Lurking Canadian: i think what lane was trying to say is that the poll had +9 more democrats responding but obama only lead by 4. so democrats were over-represented, even with that he is barely ahead, poll is skewed, suck it libs.
CONGRATULATIONS!
That was the goal all along.

@Zam: @Zam: people who correct grammar on texts tweets and blogs as a method of demonstrating their own brilliance . . . I know whats right on most things but occasionally I’ll be typing fast and fuck up, knowing a few basic grammar rules and being able to spell certain words does not make you a fucking genius.”
Point well taken, but as one such corrector myself, I think there’s a big difference between significant errors and mere typos. For example: the NRA-led fictional reinterpretation of the Second Amendment rests on the fact that they don’t know what an “absolute clause” is.
http://blogs.denverpost.com/opinion/2013/02/12/a-grammar-lesson-for-gun-nuts-second-amendment-does-not-guarantee-gun-rights/33796/
And this moron at Breitbart doesn’t understand that “infringe” is not a synonym of “regulate”, even when that has just been explained to him by an articulate second-amendment advocate, Dick Metcalf.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/11/05/Guns-Ammo-Editor-All-Constitutional-Rights-Need-Regulation-2nd-Amendment-Included
Metcalf was fired for writing that column, or in other words, because a lot of his readers don’t think grammar means anything.
