White Plains, NY? That’s my hometown…would venture to say that probably means she is at Burke. Used to go there with the marching band to play some tunes and get folks’ spirits up.
Glad to see your friend is doing better!

So much depends on the love and care of a significant other in recovery.
Since February, I have taken care of my wife through first implanting of a pacemaker, then nine weeks ago, full left hip replacement.
I have done all housework, including laundry, cooking, cleaning, heck, I even did all the windows which you can now see through best in 15 years, and hung all the rescreened screens on the main level of the house. For eight weeks, wife had to use a walker, and needed assistance in every little daily activity one takes for granted if normally mobile. And that is pretty much everything. How do you rub medicine on your feet, for instance, if you can no longer reach your feet?
Now she is walking with a cane and making good progress. Although last night she made the mistake of getting down on the floor to drop meds in one of the cat’s eye, then had to call me to help her get up. I will leave it to you to guess what famous words she yelled up the stairs to get my attention.
Taken hard of your loved one is hard, but that is part of what you signed up for.
And it means everything to the recovery process of the one who is healing.
@HeartlandLiberal: Good for you and great news about your wife’s progress. And welcome to the “Housework seriously relieves stress, club” I’ve been in it for years!
As Helen said, your home projects have been great stress busters with the wonderful feeling of accomplishment with the results. It makes a big difference if your environment is under control and pleasant when the two of you are dealing with the healing process.

Tell them to go to Sunshine Pizzaria on Mamaroneck Ave and pick up a cheese pie. Best Pizza in White Plains.

That is really great! Don’t forget – the medical care was the key to her full recovery – the staff, nurses, and MD’s all played a critical role.
Here is to her continued and rapid full recovery and return home! I and I am sure, all balloon juicers (is that even a word?) are wishing her the very best!
