Shaheen better start debate prep now:
“Do I have the best credentials? Probably not. ‘Cause, you know, whatever. But I have long and strong ties to this state,”
— Former Sen. Scott Brown (R), quoted by the AP, on his New Hampshire U.S. Senate race.
Brown also won’t take a position on Medicaid expansion in his new home state.
Baud
Cause, you know, bqhatevwr.
lol
Shaheen is still going to curb stomp this clown but it’s going to drain money from other races, that’s the real point of him jumping in.
Cervantes
Recently, he said:
Most of the responses I’ve heard are unprintable.

He doesn’t need debate skills, people. He has hot pants. And a pick up truck.
Baud
@Cervantes:
Scott “Masshole” Brown.
may
He’s a carpet bagger and Shaheen was a popular governor before she became a popular senator. I hope his running drives more democrats to the polls in a mid term year so we don’t turn the state house back over to the party of crazy.

I think Brown found Rand Paul’s pot stash.

Did a staffer forget to fill in the name of the state for him on his crib notes?
MomSense
He is dumb as a bag of rocks but he will get a ton of money for this race so we will all have to scramble to deal with him. The amount of banking money that flooded his campaign in 2010 was just astounding. They got what they paid for though as he did manage to water down Dodd Frank quite a bit once elected.

@MomSense:
He wouldn’t have gotten the chance to water it down if a certain beloved Senator hadn’t decided to play purity progressive pony.

I hitch hiked from Illinois to New Hampshire and hiked in the White above the Kangamangus Highway in the summer of 71. Does that give me deep ties?
Amir Khalid
So if this Scott Brown guy isn’t willing to assert that he’s a better candidate for the US Senate than the Democrat, what is his reason for running?

Hopefully this idiot will invite Michelle Bachmann to campaign with him and talk about how the battles of Concord and Lexington took place in New Hampshire.

I’ll try to sum up:
‘Fuck liberals, man. And my opponent’s probably a black drug dealer. Who am I running against, again?’

@NotMax:
I know that the linked article says the following:
This is all true. What it does not say is that Brown and his wife have owned (and used) that seacoast vacation home (in Rye) for more than two decades. (It also does not tell you how many other properties they own.)
Kropadope
@debit:
I have yet to speak to someone with a better reason to vote for him. Ah, I remember the good-ole-days of Brown’s first run. When Obama’s national security problem was wanting to provide oversight and stop the worst abuses. I wonder if Brown has flipped the script yet.

Can’t these people find something useful to do? So tired of watching overprivileged and unelectable goofs publicly play out their midlife crises by grabbing at what they see as the next toy — a Senate seat.
NotMax
@Cervantes
All the worse, if after that much time he cannot bring himself to speak the state’s name (or cannot remember it).
Shall refrain from doing more than giddily metnioning that the sandy stretches of Rye waterfront were created from the publicly financed construction and maintenance of groins.

“I have long and strong ties to this state, uh . . .” [glances at palm of hand] “New Hamp Shire.”

@NotMax: Mischief!

@kc: Technically, I think that would be “himbo”.
But, you know, bqhatevwr.
aimai
@MomSense: But it cuts both ways. If he attracts tons of money to the campaign and still loses thats money that didn’t go into other campaigns on their side, as well as ours. I actually don’t have a problem with Shaheen having to fight for this seat–I think it energizes the voters and we can’t afford to take any seats for granted, anyway.

As a Mass resident who has experienced Senator Scott Brown, I can tell that “Do I have the best credentials? Whatever” is about all he has got. Insect level intellect.

@Baud:
I love you for that.
Hal
So basically, Scott Brown was elected in Massachusetts based on looks and a pickup truck. I really have to laugh anytime anyone legitimately thinks he has a chance. One 2 year stint in the Senate only to be beaten by a political newbie who has since far eclipsed Brown.
Cervantes
@Hal:
Not exactly. His main opponent, Martha Coakley, was an awful candidate.
NotMax
@Cervantes
Yes, yes, she was.
Currently it seems she’s on track for becoming governor, so hope she has learned something lasting from the Senate race debacle.
Cervantes
@NotMax: Of the five candidates on the Democratic side, I know four pretty well. Coakley is not my favorite. She’s doing well in opinion polls but she’s not popular among party activists. The primary is in September.
Davis X. Machina
@Cervantes: Brown had a ton of free media — in a sports-mad town having the then-#1 morning sports-talk show give over entire days to the Senate race. The bro vote was significant. Two of my brothers from exurban Boston — far interior Cape Ann, and the swamps of Plymouth-Carver-Kingston — both union members, both life-long Democrat, voted for Brown…
Villago Delenda Est
@Cervantes: By that standard, the Bush Crime family should be able to run for office in Maine like they’re as Down East as the next guy, and all those Villagers who own vacation homes on Martha’s Vinyard and Nantucket are authentic Massholes.
Cervantes
@Villago Delenda Est: Wasn’t suggesting any standard — just providing some facts not included in the article.
Villago Delenda Est
@Cervantes: Yeah, but it’s information that will only enhance the notion that Brown is a carpetbagger.
James E Powell
I have very little faith in anything, but I do believe in Democrats’ talent for screwing things up. I also believe that the corporate press/media is devoted to promoting Republicans who claim to be different than the standard right-wing, hypocritical Christian, bigot. I will not rest until the papers on morning after the election state that Scott Brown lost.
Cervantes
@Villago Delenda Est: And your point is … ?

@Paul in KY:
The only Roland he met didn’t have hair, and was about a head short of being tall.
