You may have heard of the oncoming attack of the white homodemons that Obama has released to come for black men.
Doesn’t ring a batshit bell?
They’re the ones with the American Express cards that love the theater, according to James David Manning, the pastor of the ATLAH World Church in Harlem, New York. We talked about his touched in the head ideas and then “Dr.” Manning decided to come for us:
As if that wasn’t enough, on today’s show #TeamBlackness also covered Paul Ryan’s choice words on why “inner city men” are “not even thinking about working,” those like David Weigel who have come to his defense, and seriously, how many times do we have to remind people that welfare is not just like slavery?

Ben Carson is right! Think of all those Rethuglicans languishing in FEMA camps, right this moment, guarded by gay men wearing FABULOUS uniforms.
Oh, the humanity!

OT. Tony Benn has died. A childhood hero of mine, along with Michael Foot, from the days of old Labour.
“Ask the powerful five questions:
1. What power have you got?
2. Where did you get in from?
3. In whose interest do you exercise it?
4. To whom are you accountable?
5. How can we get rid of you?”
“Only democracy gives us that right. That is why no-one with power likes democracy. And that is why every generation must struggle to win it and keep it – including you and me, here and now.”

What an amazingly awful person. No wonder less and less people are going to church.

That “Dr” sure was a piece of walking-talking-self-refuting hypocrisy waving a “Bible” and a “PhD” as though he had any any clue about them or knowledge of their use. “It’s magic! Both of ’em!” It is very nearly a joy to think he could in theory become the very poster child and face of “his” religion as he so clearly thinks he should be: there’d be that face-melting moment from Raiders of the Lost Ark moment.

Also, this:
Weird how having few or no job opportunities available makes people stop thinking that getting a job is a possibility for them. You can only beat your head against a brick wall for so long before you have to stop.

That is an OMG there. Elon, thank you for being more reserved than I would have been. Sorry that someone ignorant is heaping smack upon you but that seems to be what ignorant folk do. But that ending where he thanks Zimmerman for killing Treyvon? How is it that this ‘preacher’ is still walking around and not hospitalized out there?

Elon, I saw your tweet the other day. Dave Weigel needs to be on the same shitlist with “Dicky” Cohen, Paula Deen, Rand Paul, and everyone else (oh, let’s add another one–that Napolitano guy from FOX News, making a bad name for all Napolitanos) who trucks in lost cause/white supremacist/bell curve memes in the 21st century.
The Other Chuck
@kindness: He’s just baiting people for attention. A black Fred Phelps, if you like.
I suggest we call him “Doctor Homodemons” from now on.

I saw the rest of his videos. Uncle Ruckus with a divinity degree (or is he self-ordained?)
Google Larry Sinclair: or archive.org (The Regulator).
Larry is/was a con artist with personality issues. He failed a lie detector test.
It’s worth noting that not even the angriest Obamaphobe has gone there in action. It says volumes about Sinclair’s lack of credibility.

@The Other Chuck: I like that. Make him own it. Make him wear it on his head like a rug, around his neck like a tacky 1970s medallion, on his shoulders like a moth-eaten fur. The Right Reverend Homodemons is in the house.

@CarolDuhart2:
Polygraphs are notoriously unreliable. A skillful liar can fool them, and a nervous, basically truthful person often fails because the have so much anxiety about being polygraphed.
Not to imply that Sinclair is anything but a lying sack of shit, of course :)

Maybe Ezra will hire Dr. James David Manning. Elon, help a brotha out and send his resume to Ezra, I hear he’s hiring self hating types. I am sure he has an opening for a black self-hating ignoramus.

@Mnemosyne: You know, if all the douchebags who talked about FREAKANOMICS had actually read the damn book, they’d know about that research that was done about a decade ago in the South Side of the Chicago on its informal economy. Most people took away the notion that a lot of drug dealers were living with mom and making less money than minimum wage. But what it seems like a lot of people missed is that
not only were jobs scarce
not only were businesses marginal
not only were small business loans a cruel joke
But–people who looked like they were just hanging around–street people–were actually working sub-minimum-wage jobs! Business owners–legitimate and criminal–were hiring unemployed men at the rate of $10/day as runners, information, security, even cleaning services. And these men were visible on the street. THEY WERE WORKING. It’s not their fault their income was so low.
It reminds me of my own city’s “homeless problem”. They don’t have a visible homeless problem. Not really. Survey after survey shows that most of the homeless are employed. I know, from working downtown, that most of the people hanging around downtown have a place to stay. Some are even home owners. They have a lack of public places to hang out, poorly designed public spaces and–oh–A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. Unemployed, mentally ill people or unemployed substance abusers, by the way, plenty of overlap there, congregating daily in one place and driving out other potential users of the public space. A small number of these folks are sleeping in the streets as well. The rest are on Social Security and have a roof over their heads. But this gracious, hospitable, traditional Southern society hasn’t provided a place for people with severe mood disorders, emotional problems, and schizotypal disorders or bipolar disorders to work, have a role in society, help others, have self respect. They certainly aren’t providing adequate mental health intervention.
Another Holocene Human
Also, interesting how we judge people based on skin color and its associations alone. There was a lot of ridicule directed after that study came out at low level drug dealers who were making little money dealing drugs but hoped to move up in the organization and get rich. Lots of speculation they were in it for the violence.
Yet nobody really talks about all the white people who:
engage in MLM schemes that usually impoverish them
young white people selling knives, cosmetics, etc in direct marketing schemes that almost never make money
commission-only low level sales jobs, jobs where the person is under pressure to engage in immoral pressure tactics, which earn little money, but there’s the hope of becoming a supervisor
low paid piece work data center/call center/transcription jobs where you make less than min wage in a boiler room but hope to become a supervisor
cottage industries where the cost of materials is barely paid for by sales meaning that the labor is almost uncompensated
Do white people get in this because they love being con jobs who hit other white people over the head for money? It’s funny how this is never pathologized. (Well, not since sales stopped being associated so directly with “Jews”.)

I can’t wait to hear what Doctor Pastor Homodemons has to say when he finds out that ObamaCare includes same sex spouses.

@Villago Delenda Est: I agree that a lie detector test is hardly fool-proof. But nothing else has shown up about this accusation-not other lovers, not anything. And this after everyone has taken a whack at him-Hillary Clinton, John McCain. Even the better-funded and organized campaign of Mitt Romney who had endless resources, didn’t even touch this.
Villago Delenda Est
@Another Holocene Human:
Funny how that happened, isn’t it?
Another Holocene Human
@Villago Delenda Est: Also, you can have CNS arousal because of recognition. Smart polygraph operators recognize this, but dumb polygraph operators who’ve only heard of this muddy the waters so their results are inconclusive. Like thinking they have a photo of an object “only the killer would know about” but they’re wrong. Or the subject’s already seen the photos.
Apparently they use polygraphs pretty effectively in police work in Japan, but in an evidence-based way. It the US there’s all this “woo-woo” around them and they aren’t used properly for what they’re useful for and get thrown out there improperly as if they prove or show things that they don’t. There’s a reason they’ve been pretty much tossed in the junkheap in employment law, for example, except for in the federal gov’t because they don’t have to answer to state courts.
Another Holocene Human
@Villago Delenda Est: If a white person does something bad, that person is bad. If a black person does something bad, something is wrong with black people/culture/community.
If a Protestant rips you off, they’re an asshole. If a Jew rips you off, something something ZOG.
I heard “gyp” a lot growing up in the North. That’s bad; shouldn’t say it. My wife has heard “jew” as a verb so many times when she was working in sales in the South that I want to PUNCH a few people. (And the whole “we don’t mean it that way” bullshit.) Actually, she retaliated and started using the names of their denominations as a verb–you know, presbyterian, baptist….

random question: Sullivan posted a video of a new Honey Maid commercial called “This is Wholesome” and basically shows a tatted up dad, an interracial couple, and a gay family. Wondering if the wingnuts have already launched a boycott.

@Another Holocene Human: an honest question, why is “gyp” bad? i’ve always known it as meaning something was cheated or swindled. is it somehow related to gypsy?

@Another Holocene Human: The frustrating thing with fighting back is, to the ignorant, you are the aggressor. It is one thing when that person is an ass but when you like just about everything about someone but they hang on to that shit it is hard.
My wife’s Grandfather, now passed who I really liked in many ways, once was telling me a story about this guy, a greedy Jew, well he noticed my expression and before I could interject, he added, “Don’t get me wrong. He is Jewish.” Well…then. For that dying is about the only mechanism that will make it stop.
In their eyes, they always get to say crap because, in their hearts, they don’t mean anything by it. You calling them on their crap, however, is something you did with thought and consideration and you meant to shame them by calling them racist, bigot, disrespectful, etc.
It was only 50 years ago when a lot of people used the word nigger in open comfortable conversation and didn’t mean a bad thing in their hearts by saying it. And I am using 50 years as a generalization. Your experience might vary.

Japan has something like a 98% conviction rate. I don’t think their police are superhuman, I think it’s more that if you’re ever accused, You Are Screwed.
The polygraph was foisted on law enforcement (though not invented by) the creator of Wonder Woman. You know, with her Lasso Of Truth. It’s complete pseudoscience poppycock.

@KG: It’s about as related to “gypsy” as “jap” is to “Japanese”. That is, precisely related.
Bill in Section 147
I am getting my own education right now on my personal habits and failings. About once a month, or so, my 14-year-old daughter calls me out on a gender issue. Nothing big, but at times I will use a gender identification specific in a spot where defining the gender isn’t necessary. And I mean gender, as in defined sexual identity as opposed to non-specified gender identity.
I have to check myself because nobody likes being called out on their shit, so I let her tell me when I’m doing it and we discuss it. I would say more than half the time I could have chose my words better, more specifically or been more generic. She doesn’t get all fired up about it but she does make herself clear.
