Co-manning the IGDA booth at SXSW. Figuring out train schedules, and plunging into the masses.
I’m too old for this shit, but I volunteered, so once more unto the breach.
John M. Burt
A bunch of Fluffy Friends videos on YouTube with my six-year-old on my lap. Damn, he’s getting big — won’t be able to do this much longer.
Amir Khalid
I’ll be watching the Intertoobs for more news about MH370.

Right now recovering from a 5 mile hike that we didn’t plan or prepare for. We were out driving and there was a state park. “Let’s go there!”
“Ooo! A trail! Where does that go?”
Turns out it goes all the way to the Chesapeake, but then we had to turn around and go back. But my wife is a fucking trooper, and she made it. Go her! (My wife is disabled and in constant pain, but we went slow and got it done. Yay! Ow!!)

Shoveled 2 truckloads of mulch around the flowers.

Only because it is a topic occasionally discussed here, Deadliest U.S. Fraternity Abolishes Pledging for New Members.
And a little something from out Amir Khalid’s way.

@raven: It’s still cold here, but both monday and tuesday are supposed to be 60-degree days. Maybe it really is true that spring will come this year.
schrodinger's cat
@raven: Mulch? Is this a cruel joke? There is snow on the ground here.
Plans for the evening, cook and put away all the stuff from the grocery store and Target.

FYWP. Possible to unmoderate?
Wag
Getting ready for a bike ride, then Mexican for dinner tonight.

Walked around town, getting shit and burning calories. Editing for the first time in CC Premiere. Not bad. Can I neck punch those who dismissed my job application because I did not have Creative Suite CC or 6 on it? Because, I’m a fucking genius with software, fuckers.
raven
@WaterGirl: Hopefully, it’s great here but we still shouldn’t plant.

Caturday Kitteh is messing with your religious dogma
P.S. Beautiful Shiro Neko, Tunch’s Japanese doppelganger, is the Caturday kitteh this week.

Low key evening planned. Frozen pizza crusts–just add toppings. Bought some crispy chocolate cookies and gelato for dessert.

@ruemara: I prefer CS6 to CC. CC was unstable and made my computer crash repeatedly. Mostly use DreamWeaver, what do you use it for?

Another day, another fender bender. I go 10 years without an acciendent and now I’ve had 2 in a month. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Today was the first day that felt as if spring might some day come. We enjoyed it, if only by driving to a mall to try to get our terrible Dyson vacuum cleaner (2 years old and broken already) fixed.
Tomorrow’s the Shirley Temple marathon on TCM, starting at 4:30. The best one is Stowaway at 6:15 PM Eastern. But you can see her with R. Reagan in That Hagen Girl if you stay up until 4 in the morning. I don’t advise it.
Villago Delenda Est
Look in the attic for your old Star Trek: The Original Series VHS tapes and watch a few of those.

@Amir Khalid: I can only imagine how frantic I would be if a loved one was on a plane that had gone inexplicably missing. I hope there is an answer soon, even if it’s not an answer that anyone wants.

Oh, and this.
This Sunday.
(personally, I’m recording and catching WD, but no shit y’all – Cosmos is back. Hope it doesn’t suck.)
One more time – Cosmos is back this Sunday. Watcheet.

Monday at 10 p.m. Eastern brings some toothsome brawny adventure with Errol Flynn in “The Sea Hawk.”
Juxtaposition of movies on Tuesday (both, being extremely charitable about it, so-so) did get a chuckle.
Bengazi – and the next full-length movie following is – Jackass Mail.

Resting and starting to feel better; this antibiotic makes food taste weird though. Tomorrow I mostly have to sit on a plane, with the real work (packing up to move) starting on Monday. Here’s hoping that getting FIL and BIL moved closed to BIL’s job cuts down on the drama-rama that the last 9 months have been.
I have got to figure out how to see John Oliver’s new show without subscribing to HBO; anyone have any hints?
PurpleGirl
Slept all day; finally feeling awake. Now to see what I can actually do the rest of the evening. I do have to go out to buy some batteries — the wireless mouse is complaining about low battery power.

Rand Paul again sweeps the all-important CPAC straw poll of who is the biggest Republican asshole in America.

Eventual Sunday night viewing suggestion. “Premieres April 27 at 11PM ET/ 10PM CT.”
So, in seven weeks, yeah.
@StringOnAStick: The CEO of HBO said a few weeks ago that they don’t mind if people who have HBO GO credentials (for mobile devices) share them with friends; they see it as “creating addicts” for their programming and having no impact on their business. So bookmark the URL and hit up your friends!

Drove across town to pick up my tax return and stopped at the record store on the way home. Bought Peter Buck’s latest (vinyl only, no CD or download), a used vinyl copy of Wild Flag, used Japanese CDs of Little Feats’ ‘Sailin’ Shoes’ and ‘Dixie Chicken’, and a used CD of Nick Drake’s ‘Time Of No Reply’. Wasn’t one of the cheaper record store trips I’ve made, but I really like what I found.
I’ll probably make a trip to Target this evening just to get out in our above-freezing temps. Spring may arrive before May.
Amir Khalid
@Mike in NC:
If I recall correctly, the CPAC straw poll isn’t very good at predicting the Republican nominee for president, even in an election year. All it really does is raise false hopes about a particular candidate. Which makes me wonder, how did the Democratic party trick CPAC into doing it?
WaterGirl
Anyone watching the new show The Red Road? It’s on Sundance on Thursday nights.

You guys ever wonder what happened to Mickey Kaus? Me, neither. But this is what happened to Mickey Kaus:
the website referenced is that thing Tucker Carlson’s mommy set up for him last time he was fired from whichever cable network most recently fired him.

No one’s going to watch the new “Cosmos” on Fox? I know I am.
ruemara
@schrodinger’s cat: video editing, titling, audio massaging, print layouts, photo editing & retouching, logo design and animation graphics creation in illustrator. I’ve been using jsbin & Twitter bootstrap for web. Touched Dreamweaver but I prefer working in the code with less stuff on screen. Can’t wait to muss with the other new features. I won’t be able to spring for CS6, but I should be able to juggle in the prior license holder rate for a year.
Villago Delenda Est
@Mike in NC:
The competition for that distinction is always fierce.
schrodinger's cat
@ruemara: I only have it because I have it through school via an academic license, it is $10 for an academic year, it was free last year, otherwise it would have been too spendy for me too.
ETA: I too end using the code view within DW a lot. Microsoft Web Expression is pretty decent too.
CaseyL
@spudgun: I’m not only watching it, I’m hosting a watch party :)
StringOnAStick
@Amir Khalid: CPAC may claim to be ‘conservative’, but it seems to me it is really the place where libertoonians to get their freak on. Wuffle Buckley must be so proud.
01jack
@CaseyL: I thought it wasn’t on ’till tomorrow.
ruemara
@schrodinger’s cat: I just don’t appreciate this monthly fee nonsense. Booo.
schrodinger's cat
@ruemara: Me neither. CC is worse than CS6, I had a trial version of CC for one month.

What is it about True Detective that every one likes? I have watched all seven episodes only to fall asleep after about 10 or 15 minutes. So, I watch it again with tons of caffeine to keep me from falling asleep again. A couple of episodes I had to watch a third time because the second viewing also put me to sleep despite all the caffeine. I love mysteries, police procedurals, private eyes, etc., but this is really and truly a snoozer.

Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos Cosmos!!! (tomorrow night)

He’s appointment TV for me.
mainmata
@Amir Khalid: I believe you are in KL, no? Any insights into the MAS probable crash and the mystery of the stolen passports? Odds are this is just a tragic accident but what if….?
slag
@slag: It should be noted that, apparently, President Obama is introducing Cosmos tomorrow night. That’s interesting.
Amir Khalid
@mainmata:
Until the plane is found and some physical evidence recovered, no one has any basis for speculating about a cause. The men travelling on stolen passports could be terrorists or criminals or, as the FBI has pointed out, just travellers. (The FBI and NTSB are joining the investigation — it’s a US-built plane, and the FBI has serious investigative resources.)
