Just had a good laugh with Shawn about the night a couple of the brothers in the unit tried to teach me, Geoff and Shawn how to dance to Bell Biv and Devoe’s Poison while we were pre-gaming before heading out to the Green Goose:
We looked something like this, but it was funny as fuck and funnier in retrospect:
Such good times.
trollhattan
The Elaine dance!
Read she sat next to Biden at last night’s state dinner. That’s one conversation I’d give anything to have listened to.
SarahT
@trollhattan:Ditto ! And Stephen Colbert was next to FLOTUS – damn ! He went into it a bit on last night’s show, but MORE, please !
SarahT
Also, too – Time Warner / Comcast merger is the worst corporate shit show since Citizens United. Please tell me this can be stopped ?

Getting set to watch Japan and Germany play in women’s hockey on the NBCOlympics.com streaming.. I’m really hoping that Smile Japan can come away with a win after they got screwed against Russia. And getting to watch their awesome goal celebration a few more times would be great.
srv
@SarahT: Also, not. Don’t you want to talk about the state dinner while the world burns?
I’m sure Obama and Brian Roberts talk about the weather during their golf sessions.
? Martin
@SarahT: Look on the bright side – thanks to the merger they’ll be up to two customer support reps.
srv
@? Martin: No, silly, they’ll RA one, and the one rep will support both.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
Damn. 1-0 Germany on the power play.
Ian
@SarahT:
Come up with a few billion dollars and we may have a strategy
SarahT
@srv: what@srv: Please repeat – hard to hear you from way up on that cross.
SarahT
@? Martin: hahahaha

4-0 final. I love watching Team Japan play but they have no idea how to score.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
Patriot Majority has joined the Kay Hagen fight, hitting Tillis about allowing pre-existing conditions and supporting the raising of the prescription out of pocket for seniors (I assume that refers to repealing the donut hole fix.)
I am so sick of the “it’s about families” woman.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
Correction, it’s the “it’s about people” woman from AFP.
It’s a good ad, sadly. It’s quiet, and it grabs one of the better approaches for arguments FOR the ACA and turns it on its head.

Halfway through the video and I had a flash back of kids wearing Starter Jackets.

@SarahT: I loved this part:

Why people don’t accept that dead is dead.
I suspect that if we could see the paperwork, this woman and Munoz and McMath would not look at all the same.
NotMax
English translation, please?
Omnes Omnibus
@NotMax:
Bell Biv Devoe was an R&B group in the late 80s/early 90s. Poison was one their popular songs. Pre-gaming is drinking the a barracks or dorm room before going out to a bar. Based on context, the Green Goose was a bar.
Just in case that was a serious request.
NotMax
@Omnes Omnibus
It was, and I thank you.
Omnes Omnibus
You are welcome and I am glad you could get past the pre-coffee typos.
Hightower
“Bell Biv and DeVoe”? That is, by far, the whitest thing I’ve read all week. Adorable! That’s even better than my Mom asking if I had fun “playing the basketball.”
Mnemosyne
@Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism:
We don’t even have to see the paperwork, because that story has two vital facts in it:
1) Benson was 22 weeks pregnant, while Munoz was only 14 weeks pregnant, so the fetus had a much higher chance of survival.
2) Benson’s husband was offered a choice of whether or not she should be kept on life support, while Munoz’s doctors put her on without the family’s consent.
Also, too, Canada.

And yet no Sweet Fancy Moses tag on the post?

Speaking of friendship, a movie that stunned me by how beautifully friend-love is shown: Jack Goes Boating. Which, wouldn’t you know, was directed/produced by//stars P S Hoffman. It’s free on Hulu this week (but rated “mature” so you have to register). It also covers anxiety, trying, driving. With swimming, cooking.
S.Irene
And speaking of Hoffman, I saw that City Arts in SF is showing 9 movies of Hoffman’s over 2 days, all free, so that people can come and watch and grieve together. Wish I could do that to handle the sorrow. Been thinking of how his performances seem to have both hope and mourning rolling around inside one character, alongside all the dialogue and action.

@Hightower: Listening to the Hippity Hop.
Tone In DC
Elaine should have used “Genius of Love” for that dance.
Just sayin’.
