Hey You Guys Reince Priebus Is “Down” with Rosa Parks!

… as long as she’s really dead, and can’t beat him about the head & shoulders complain:

To quote Jimmy Breslin, “Class tells when there is no class.”

    It is to LOL.

@Alison: Oh, well that fixes everything.

Good grief. What a bunch of useless ninnies the RNC is.

  7. 7
    Aji says:

@Ash Can: If only. “Useless ninnies” I can handle; they’re ineffectual, so they may be pains in the ass, but they don’t do much damage.

    With this crowd, it’s intentional.

Of course racism is over. I wish all the blacks would realize that, stop bitching, stop planning drug deals on their Obamaphones, get off welfare and get jobs!

The blacks are the real racists!

@different-church-lady: It has been a wingnut radio trope for awhile now that racism against blacks is over, though naturally all blacks are now racists themselves. Limbaugh listeners don’t attend Klan rallies personally so they have decided they aren’t racists.

Michael Steele, the RNC chair that saw the Republicans do quite well in the 2010 election, was booted out on his ear after it was over. This putz is still in there after their brand tanked in 2012. Hmm… I wonder why.

  25. 25
    Belafon says:

@danielx: I’ve been having one of those fights on Twitter with two people who think that since Democrats were the real racists, they still are. And their one good piece of evidence is that when Republicans finally got control of the Mississippi senate, they finally ratified the 13th amendment, because the Democrats in Mississippi are definitely representative of the country at large.

Yeah, they fucked it up, but I’ll give them (tiny) props for trying to do the right thing.

  31. 31

@Arclite: How so? You seem to think the original tweet was simply a mistake. It wasn’t. It was their usual deliberate attempt to shift the discourse further rightward by positing “ended racism” to get people to internalize it as a meme.

No props, tiny or otherwise. This is not a nod toward antiracism, it’s the usual ratfucking.

@Schlemizel: Maybe, if your brother-in-law is a walrus-looking guy with sons he lies about because he has just enough self-awareness to suspect that “Looks like the Feds will offer a deal” and “His parole officer is pleased” aren’t “proud-parent bragging” so much as “damning with faint praise the idiot sons and the schmucks that raised them.”

If not, then you have my undying sympathy anyway, because I’m sure yours is just as bad in his own way. Stupid comes in many forms.

Earlier today @nerdywonka was posting an awesome pic of Rosa on the bus combined with a photo of Pres Obama sitting in the same seat on the same bus.

The thing that always sticks with me is that we tend to view what Rosa Parks did as a spontaneous action but there had been years of careful organizing so that they were ready to turn that action into the successful bus boycott. I am not diminishing in any way what Rosa did as she is one of my great heroes, just lifting up that it takes perseverance and organizing to create social change.

So I helped my friends sign up for health and dental insurance! Yay! There were some tears (of joy) followed by lots of praise for our Kenyan Muslim Usurper followed by spicy food to celebrate.

Son covered completely by CHIP. Health insurance after subsidies $54.37 per month with a $400 deductible and a $1,000 out of pocket max for a PPO Silver plan with cost sharing. Dental just under $100 per month

Mom can now see a doctor and treat her diabetes!! Dad can get his root canals. I think I will have a lifetime supply of chana masala and mutter paneer.

Website worked perfectly and the phone call was incredibly pleasant.

    I blame Obama.

But stories like yours make me feel a little better.

I spent some wasted time today trolling twitchy and getting into an extended discussion with a woman about why complaining about “Moochelle” and the “9 kinds of pie but not humble pie” served at the White House for Thanksgiving was probably inappropriate and rude. She stopped responding after a while but I saw another comment from another guy stating as a fact that the Obama’s had probably “never eaten anything that wasn’t paid for by someone else” in their lives. I realized I was seeing the tip of a crazy right wing meme, not surprising somehow but still shocking, that argues that the President and Mrs. Obama never earned any money in the private sector and therefore all of their salaries and spending are somehow analagous to welfare. Just when you think you’ve gotten to the bottom of the barrell, they blast on through.

I think the potential is definitely there for the Democrats to gain a lot of votes–so that we can accomplish more good things to help ordinary people! The big caveat is that WE have to make it happen. These friends of mine were ready to just pay the penalty having heard that Obamacare was a disaster. I told them that I would go to their house and help them sign up so they could find out for themselves.

I feel like we each need to help five friends sign up for ObamaCare. I know my friends are going to tell all of their friends how great it is. Hopefully they will encourage others to sign up as well. We have to make this happen! Maybe I’ll start a new hashtag. #help5savelives

The Repubs are going to keep throwing things at ObamaCare to see if anything sticks until 20 years from now when we have single payer and protesters scream “keep your government hands off my ObamaCare”.

I don’t think we can compete with the right wing noise machine since it is amplified by our “liberal media” so the best we can do is just each of us help people to access ObamaCare so they find out for themselves.

Problem is, most people already have health insurance so they’re not using the exchanges, all they know about ACA is what the media tells them. And the media is saying it’s a disaster. I’m hopeful that by the next election the truth will come out, but between red states sabotaging it and the media bias, I’m not sanguine.
