Proving that there really is no bottom that teahadists and other assholes like Ted Nugent can hit, here is the Nuge sharing his deep thoughts about what should happen next in the Martin/Zimmerman case:
While there is little he can do to protect himself from a civil-rights charge by our gun-running, pro-New Black Panthers attorney general, Mr. Zimmerman may have some legal room to move regarding a wrongful death lawsuit by Trayvon Martin’s family. George Zimmerman should consider suing Trayvon Martin’s parents.
The narrative being spun by any number of media pundits, race-baiters and various excuse-makers is that Mr. Zimmerman shot down an unarmed minor. Although he was found not guilty of second-degree murder or manslaughter, let’s follow the narrative of those who believe Mr. Zimmerman killed a minor. And they are right, he did. Trayvon Martin was a minor at the time of this death. The basis for Zimmerman’s lawsuit should be that minor Trayvon Martin viciously attacked him causing great bodily harm and threatening his life, which resulted in Mr. Zimmerman defending himself and shooting Martin.
Trayvon Martin’s vicious attack on George Zimmerman and Martin’s tragic death have no doubt surely dragged Mr. Zimmerman through 18 months of untold emotional hell, pain, distress, anguish, fatigue, nightmares and financial ruin. Again, following the narrative of the pro-Trayvon media types and other race-baiters, if Trayvon Martin was a minor, then Trayvon Martin’s parents may be held liable for the emotional pain and suffering Mr. Zimmerman has been put through for the past 18 months, and surely for the rest of his life.
Parents can be held responsible for the actions of their minor-age children until the children reach the age of majority (meaning adulthood), which is exactly why Mr. Zimmerman should explore filing a lawsuit against Martin’s parents. The age of majority in Florida is 18-years-old. Trayon Martin was 17-years-old when he attacked Mr. Zimmerman, which potentially means that Trayvon’s parents may possibly be held responsible for the stress, emotional pain and anguish their son caused George Zimmerman.
He also calls Eric Holder the most racist attorney general in history, because as we know from several hundred years of our nation’s history, it’s black people who are the real racists.

I’m all for it. There’s no proof that Martin attacked him unprovoked besides George Zimmerman’s story and there’s absolutely no proof of great bodily harm. They can say it all they want. It isn’t there. It wasn’t required for FL self defense/SYG.

If Zimmerman is smart (a very big “if”), he won’t file a lawsuit against Martin’s parents. If only because they would have the right to depose him, and he would have to answer the questions – he’s already been found not guilty, so he couldn’t claim the Fifth, and the questions would be magical:
Did the 911 operator tell you not to follow Mr. Martin?
Why did you ignore that direction?
When you approached Mr. Martin, did you have your gun drawn?
What basis did you have for assuming Mr. Martin had no right to be in the neighborhood?
What, if any, law enforcement training do you have?
What basis did you have for assuming Mr. Martin was engaged in unlawful or illegal activities?
Why did you follow him?
What did you say when you approached him?
What did he say when you approached him?
Did you try to restrain him or prevent him from leaving the scene?
Why did you restrain him or try to prevent him from leaving the scene?

To repeat myself, according to the received legal wisdom of B37, Trayvon Martin “played a huge role” in his own death. “When George confronted him … he could have walked away and gone home. He didn’t have to do whatever he did and come back and be in a fight.” So Trayvon is faulted exactly for not retreating, for standing what is clearly not his ground in her, the Zimms’ and the Nuge’s eyes.

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, and — in spite of True Romance magazines — we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely — at least, not all the time — but essentially, and finally, alone. They need to convince themselves of his criminality in order justify their own racism. The verdict, such as it was, is simply not satisfying enough because it hinges on the interpretation of the law rather than some sense of right/wrong justice. I think many of them would have preferred a guilty verdict (and might have even expected it) because it feeds their outrage/narrative more than an acquittal.

@Alesis:
Never been a racial conservative, but as far as I can tell, it’s the same as most conservatives. They live in a world that’s so sheltered that the worst thing they’ve ever felt or even witnessed racially is themselves being called (usually correctly) a racist… An enormous echo chamber telling them that “this is the kind of racism nobody talks about! Everyone cares about black people’s feelings, but no one cares about yours!” takes those experiences and blows them out of all proportion into the ridiculous thing you see on Fox News.
Having gone to Howard University a couple times a week for classes for an entire year, then worked in an office where literally everyone other than me (and the boss) was black, and never been “called a racist,” “had the race card played against me” or whatnot in that entire time, it’s kind of hard for me to escape the conclusion that if black people said you were being racist, it might just be because it’s true.
Michele C.
@The Snarxist Formerly Known as Kryptik: @Alesis: Well, I grew up in Michigan (mostly), where the Nuge still actually gets onto the radio regularly, so I’ve seen people like this up close.
First, some of it is based in the reality that their economic reality has gotten worse. White people with no education can no longer count on working as a janitor at Ford for the equivalent of $40,000-60,000/year in current wages (depends on whether you use CPI, labor costs, or income-index of per-capita GDP). So, they see one group or another as stealing this from them (blacks, immigrants, foreign auto workers). However, honestly, the difference between median black wages and median white wages during that time have only very slightly closed (BLS data), so we’re all doing worse. But I’m guessing here that most don’t bother researching BLS data before forming their opinions.
The other thing that I see is the usual being “better” than someone that @KG brought up. And, lately, I notice that their are a lot of rich people who see the benefit in getting the non-rich to fight amongst themselves and I can imagine it was always so. If we focus on how the other is getting more than us, we don’t notice that the rich actually have it all. Hence, the teachers are bad or the unions or the blacks or the immigrants or the … and we fight against that instead of the system making us all poorer.
Also, honestly, someone like the Nuge *really* is a racist moron, so he honestly hates people not like him and is afraid of them and doesn’t think they should have rights. So, if they do, that’s wrong and bad and scary. It’s horrifying.

@The Red Pen: I’m generalizing. But in generalizing, what percentage of murders are committed by males? What percentage of assaults? 90%? 95%?
We need the Matriarchy, like yesterday.
Zapruder F. Mashtots, D.D.S. (formerly Mumphrey, et al.)
That guy really sucks hard. Oh, and I really love how he says that the asshole who scammed $500,000 out of brainless dolts for his “legal defense fund” is hard up for money. I don’t know, for all I know he did spend that money on lawyers, but if he did, then I have a hard time seeing how he could be in such sorry shape that I should feel bad for him.
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, there’s another big thing Zimmerman has going for him that Trayvon Martin doesn’t, namely that he’s still alive. Only to a conservative would it make any sense that the guy who shot and killed an unarmed 17 year old and got off on all charges is the one who got the worse deal.
Why won’t Nugent make good on his promise and either die or go rot in jail somewhere? Oh, yeah, again, I almost forgot: he, like pretty much every other conservative asshole, is a pussy of infinite dimension.
@Kay:
And of course he was a criminal, even if only, as you point point out, a latent one. I mean, hey, after all, they all are, aren’t they? Really, now, show me just one of them who ever measured up to anything.

This New Yorker essay about a Eudora Welty short story about a racist murderer told in the first-person is really worth reading http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/books/2013/07/a-murder-in-deep-summer.html Some things never change in this country.

I’m not at all convinced that would help, but we could certainly use some kind of cultural shift. I’m pessimistic. As many point out, America is a country full of people who call themselves Christian and yet love war, hate peacemakers and enjoy watching the poor suffer.
I’m convinced that people sport the “WWJD” (What would Jesus Do?) slogan because they are genuinely unaware of what Jesus would do.

I think the drug running and gun crimes tall tale came from the brother. Who may be (understandably!) searching desperately for a motive for why the hell Martin would attack Zimmerman other than “the obvious criminality of all Black teenagers” which is all they got presently.
Maybe he realized this story doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. “Add drug dealing! Add gun running!”

Matriarchy? Headed by Liz C., Wasilla Starbursts, Crazy-Eyed Bach and rising star B37? Or Lady Thatcher for those with nostalgic cross-puddle tendencies. Beware of simple “solutions”.

@scav:
Not relevant. You’re looking at women that are evaluated for fitness for jobs that are still considered to be men’s jobs – that require action, sacrifice over compassion, support. Congress is still considered the war-making part of government, not the poverty-avoiding.
The Snarxist Formerly Known as Kryptik
@Kay:
I’m pretty sure the claims of ‘drug dealing’ and ‘looking for guns’ poisoned the well a good while before the brother decided to echo them. He’s just the asshat who persisted on that explanation even after the trial to continue Trayvon’s prosecution after the fact.
Amir Khalid
@Ted & Hellen:
Ted Nugent does not have even “kind of” a point. I know you are willfully refusing to understand this just to piss people off, but here it is again: Trayvon Martin, who was staying with his father, had every right to be in that neighbourhood. The presence of a trigger-happy neighbourhood watch volunteer was not his fault, nor was it something he could have known about and avoided.

Mr. Zimmerman has already evinced his reluctance to testify under oath. For that reason, I doubt he’ll take Nugent’s advice.

@? Martin: nope, not exactly, I’m claiming the right for all women to be fully human and participate in the full range of Human potential for shittiness, and not relegated to the hallmark pedestal and ghetto of biologically-determined “niceness” and “mothering instinct”. @scav: I realize it can be a sexist argument, but I agree with Martin’s take. Women leaders today are emulating male roles, because they have to – that’s the only way they could ever get near power. One assumes in a true Matriarchy (has there ever been one?), there would be substantially different codes of ethics and behaviors. Morality itself would be different – unless you believe men and women – and moreso, male and female – are exactly the same in every regard.
This is all hypothetical, of course. I have no idea what a Matriarchy would be like – if you were cynical, you could say it would be as violent, greedy, and hateful as the Patriarchy.

@Redshirt: I just don’t believe a sprinking of Matriarchical sparkles is going to pull the politics out of a political system. If you’re hoping for the substitution of societal values for those you hypothesize as “matriarchical” that’s something different – that’s a change in societal values and the outies are just as likely to play the game using those rules as the innies. Some of the matriarchial groups I read about years ago were matriarchical exactly because the men were usually away all the time fighting (a warrier caste in Northern? India is the one I most remember.)

I was replying to someone who made your exact point as though Trayvon’s right to be there means…what?

My comment about Trayvon not being born went over your head. It’s a reference to the “if GZ hadn’t gotten out of the truck none of this would have happened…” trope. So? He had every right to get out of his truck. And no, the dispatcher never told him not to, let alone “ordered” him to do anything.
I just try to keep the discussion toward fact instead of fantasies, whether they be from the insane far right through Ted Nugent or the self-trolling center right thru John Cole Servant of Boss.

What, really, is your reason for spewing all this bullshit? Are you a parody? If so, you need to work on your act. Are you for real? I find that hard to believe. I find it hard to believe that anybody could seriously take Jerry Sandusky’s side. Most of the other shit you spray is more believable, if not reasonable. But I don’t get it. You say asinine things, and then when people react to them the way normal people would, you wiggle and squirm your way out of this interpretation or that interpretation by haggling over which word meant this and which word meant that, getting into the weeds of semantics. It’s like these assholes who are always saying how awful doctors who do abortions are, that they’re mass murderers, that they’re as bad as or worse than the nazis and on and on, and then when some nut snaps and does what they’re clearly agitating for and kills somebody, they backpedal and moan that, oh, no, they never meant for anybody to die, no, no,
no.
Bear in mind, I’m not likening you to these assholes, only bringing up that some of your tactics are much alike. So what is the point of all this assholishness?

Yes, I suspect little Teddy believes himself to be quite clever and wise. He’s clever enough to spew just enough nonsense of a head-turning variety that he stirs things up around here and we give him the gratification he so desperately seeks (as I am doing now). Maybe Daddy didn’t go to his Little League games; maybe Momma didn’t praise his every bowel movement.
Amir Khalid
@Ted & Hellen:
You suggested otherwise in your comment #144, by offering “GZ … lives there” as a rejoinder to me pointing out that Trayvon had every right to be in that neighbourhood.
Betty Cracker
@Zapruder F. Mashtots, D.D.S. (formerly Mumphrey, et al.): I don’t offer any theories on the source of the troll’s florid psychosis. But I do recognize some of the dissembling on semantics from sad Internet crank Bob Somerby, who had interesting insights on media bias circa 1998-2000 and now spends much of his time shouting “GET OFF MY LAWN” at Rachel Maddow.
Somerby has taken up the “Zimmerman wuz smeared” cause with a vengeance, devoting paragraph after tedious paragraph to calling out dastardly, world-shattering media lies, such as “Zimmerman was told to stay in the truck and not follow Martin.”
According to Somerby, it’s veddy-veddy significant that the dispatcher said, “We don’t need you to do that” when informed by Zimmerman that he was pursuing Martin, rather than something more direct, like, “Don’t follow him.” And it matters a great deal that the dispatcher said this after Zimmerman had exited the truck rather than before. Why? Because shut up, that’s why.
Kay
@Betty Cracker:
I think he’s completely insane and wrong about nearly everything in this case, but I do like reading him on other things.
I’m fascinated by that obsessive quality he has.
How many posts on the word “following” do you think?
I thought he made a real breakthrough when he finally fucking admitted Zimmerman was following Martin, but he moved RIGHT to ” in the car or on foot?”
Mnemosyne
@Ted & Hellen:
And, yet, oddly, at least 6 different commenters had the exact same response to your comment.
Perhaps you need to work on your writing skills since at least 6 different people all thought you meant that Zimmerman had a better right to be there than Martin did, which you are now trying to claim was totally not what you meant to say. So what were you trying to say if that wasn’t it?
Kay
@Betty Cracker:
Ultimately disappointing, though, because his eventual end to those 5 zillion posts is that he completely bought Zimmerman’s story, and Martin attacked Zimmerman because …latent violence unleashed.
Which is what every other old white male pundit concluded.
I was hoping for something more original after the 5000 post build-up :)

We TRIED to have “some kind of cultural shift” about forty years ago, but everyone wussed out. Now most guys (no matter the race, sexual preference, or politics) are playing More Crewcut Hippie-Basher Than Thou because the hip consensus decided the right thing to do in 1977 was to make playing “yeah but” to Reagan and Thatcher cool and hip. It’s been going on ever since then, and yet liberals keep wondering why everything keeps getting worse in that regard.
