Gene Hackman double bill: The French Connection and The Poseidon Adventure.
(Or as I prefer to call it: “Titanic” with all of the boring bits cut out.)

Cave and his Bad Seeds are incredible.

So, Game of Thrones. I’ve had about enough of that psychopath torturing Theon Dumbshit.

Neverwinter is a fairly decent free to play MMO run by one of the most inept companies around.

@Groucho48: Winter is coming. Of course they don’t know what they’re doing.:-)

Holy crap. If you didn’t catch it, check out the opening number to Sunday night’s Tony Awards with Neil Patrick Harris. (Watch it full screen, as they pulled out all the stops for stagecraft.)
Absolutely now firmly ensconced in the top 5 opening production numbers ever done for the Tonys.

There was a piece in the NYT on Sunday with the breakdown of Repub vs. Dem senators on Sunday shows. Granted Media Matter has been telling us this a long time but it’s still pretty amazing to see actual numbers on this.

I am assuming the shows would say you would have to take into consideration the number of Obama admin officials showing up but my guess is that the numbers weren’t off that much during the Bush admin either.
Ultraviolet Thunder
I can’t sleep. Had a nightmare that vines were coming through the walls of the room. They were going to smother me and I couldn’t kill them fast enough.
Unless you love struggle, for Bob’s sake don’t plant Hedera Helix. And unless you really hate yourself don’t plant it next to a cactus that you like. That was my afternoon and my hands are paying for it.

As recommended by someone here I’ve just started reading Flann O’Brien’s At Swim Two Birds.
I like the writing and I’ll stay with it, but I’m on the fence so far because I’m allergic to Meta in literature. Books about writers, films about films and rock and roll about, well, you get the idea, violate my general principle that art should be something other than itself. Self reference kinda spoils the whole thing for me.
But I’ll keep reading.

@NotMax:
That was great! I miss Busby Berkeley!

@Ultraviolet Thunder:
Eh, it’s funny. That saves it from being pretentious.
If you want a backup that is hilariously funny and definitely not meta: Kingsley Amis, Lucky Jim.

There, there.

@Splitting Image: The Poseidon Adventure is on my list of all time awful movies. The plot, acting and character development were so ham handed that I was rooting for injuries and death for all involved.
And regarding that ending: When you cut a hole through the hull into an air pocket at the bottom of the ship, the air rushes out of the hole and the ship goes down in a flash. It doesn’t just sit there as if it was upside down in a parking lot. I wanted to throw stuff at the screen when I saw that movie in the theater.
Ridnik Chrome
I hate that damn song. I’m a longtime Cave fan, but I’m sick of that whole “I loved her so much I had to kill her” schtick. It’s bullshit. If you actually love somebody you don’t bash her head in with a fucking rock.
