Army of God posted an alarming video of a recent conversation with Scott Roeder, the convicted murderer of Dr. Tiller, in which they discuss the re-opening of Dr. Tiller’s clinic, and stopping abortion by murdering abortion doctors, specifically Julie Burkhart, the clinic’s executive director. In the conversation, Roeder says, “I think eight have been shot, so we’ve got 92 to go. Maybe she’ll be number nine. I don’t know, but she’s kind of painting a target on her.”
Via Kari Ann Rinker at RH Reality Check:
Nearly four years after Dr. Tiller’s assassination, anti-choice violence continues to percolate in Wichita. It started up again two years ago, with the harassment of Dr. Mila Means. Anti-choice terrorist Angel Dillard penned a letter threatening violence against the doctor, who sought to include abortion care in her private practice. That letter has resulted in federal charges against Dillard brought under the FACE Act. In addition to the letter, it was reported this week by RH Reality Check that the U.S. Department of Justice filed papers in court revealing that a Kansas county jail inmate said Dillard asked him last year to firebomb the home of Dr. Means.
The opening of the new abortion clinic has brought yet another round of frightening behavior from local anti-choice forces. The clinic’s executive director, Julie Burkhart, has been harassed at her home and has had to file a temporary restraining order against local terrorist Mark Hollick after he pointed a sign saying “Where is Your Church?” at her home (an obvious reference to the place of Dr. Tiller’s assassination). Meanwhile, Troy Newman, of Operation Rescue infamy, is already posting pictures and audio of a person who he claims is a new physician at the clinic.
A recent YouTube video posted by David Leach from the anti-choice group Army of God should cause local law enforcement officials to raise their local terrorist alert to red. The video is a recording of a recent jailhouse conversation with Scott Roeder, the convicted murderer of Dr. Tiller. What follows is the entire recorded conversation and a partial transcript.
Murder for life. That’s the anti-choice terrorist way.

Local level? Let’s put DHS’s inventory of high-capacity mags and assault weapons to use.
If this isn’t Terrorism, it doesn’t really exist.
Cassidy
I wonder how that asshole would feel if someone stood outside his home with that sign? A bullet in the brain is too good for this filth.
CarolDuhart2
Murder to save fetuses that they will refuse to pay for feeding. It figures.
Not to mention that these late-term abortions are medically necessary to save the lives, health and fertility of the mother. In their minds the mother is expendable.
Cacti
Still holding my breath for the librul media to call Scott Roeder and Eric Rudolph fundamentalist christian terrorists.
aimai
I hate these people with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. I want to see the anti-terrorist laws brought to bear on them with full force.
cvstoner
These people are truly unhinged.
LittlePig
Ah, the Evangelical takeaway from the New Testament: Hate.

In a just world, we could have the CIA circle their houses with Predator drones. Could solve two problems with that move.
Yutsano
@aimai:
Against good God fearing Christian white folk? What kind of a Sharia loving sympathiser are you?
(And yes this argument will get made. Sigh.)
Scott S.
@aimai: Honestly, I want them waterboarded, electroshocked, stuffed into oil drums, and dropped into the North Atlantic. They want the country destroyed just as much as Al Qaeda ever did.
decitect
@CarolDuhart2: as is her fertility… they only care for conceiving blastocysts, incubating the fetus and birthing a live baby… after that who cares. it’s a ‘god drives destiny’ thing, but illogical on the face of it. if the born child suffers malnutrition, abuse or other bad luck, well, that’s god’s will. Isn’t then abortion, god’s will too? who’s to say. that’s why it’s a woman’s choice.
these people don’t really believe in god.

Terrorists. The only difference between them and Al-Queda is facial hair.
LanceThruster
It makes my blood boil that you can’t fart sideways at an airport without risking the wrath of DHS, but these sick f#cks can be actively involved in domestic terrorism, and no one is whisking them away to Gitmo.
Jebediah
@LanceThruster:
I wonder if that problem would be susceptible to phone call-and-letter pressure applied to senators and representatives.
burnspbesq
@Cacti:
I care less about what the librul media thinks about these folks than I care about what the United States Attorney for the District of Kansas thinks. From where I sit, the indictment pretty much writes itself.
If nothing else, send an AUSA and a couple of FBI agents out to interview them, and when they can’t keep their lies consistent, nail them for violating 18 U.S.C. Section 1001, the general false-statement crime.
Villago Delenda Est
You know, this is a good example of where anti-terrorist drone strikes against U.S. citizens domestically would be welcomed.
There is no doubt if these
peoplecreatures were Al-Qaeda operatives, no one would so much as raise an eyebrow if they were taken out.liberal
@burnspbesq:
Yeah, but indictments don’t write themselves; they have to be written by humans. And humans have enormous discretion in such matters.
liberal
Speaking of which, as a resident of MD, there was a stir created when a woman died after an abortion out here, since it was at a clinic where they do late term ones.
Someone tipped off the American Taliban on that one, clearly violating medical privacy laws. Haven’t heard squat about whether they’re even considering an investigation.
burnspbesq
@LanceThruster:
Gitmo is, was, and always will be the wrong answer, regardless of what the question is. Indict their asses, give them a fair trial in which they are represented by competent counsel, and rely on the common sense of the jury. After they’re convicted, bury their asses under the jail.
Villago Delenda Est
@decitect:
They do believe in a god.
He’s a hybrid between Mammon and Moloch.
Calouste
@burnspbesq:
We’re talking about Kansas here.
The prophet Nostradumbass
no, Roeder, you’re painting a target on her.
burnspbesq
@liberal:
One of the things we learned from the Cheney Crime Family is that the supposed “independence” of DOJ is a myth if the WH gets a bug up its ass about something. United States Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President. If the political will to make something happen exists, it can be made to happen.
burnspbesq
@Calouste:
You have a better idea that doesn’t involve vigilantism or trampling on the Constitution?
Trollhattan
This isn’t the very definition of domestic terrorism?
Would that be okie-dokie?
WereBear
Proof, if more is needed, that “terrorists” just like spreading terror.
The political action is really only excuses for psychopaths to do what psychopaths do.
artem1s
it seems to me that there has always been a partnership between these hate groups and the NRA resistance to sane gun legislation. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a charge of mental instability/stalking would disqualify most of these guys from packing heat and their insistence that any legislation regarding universal background checks inhibits their second amendment rights. If they were shooting and threatening v1agra makers, universal background checks would be a done deal. To this day, I believe the only reason Eric Rudolph is in jail is because one of his victims was an off duty cop. gun rights always trump a woman’s right to freedom from fear and ability to make her own decisions.
WereBear
In fact, this is a great time to give a shout out to The Myth of Martyrdom, which explains, most compellingly, that suicide bombers are motivated far more by suicide than any other consideration.
Essentially, such terrorist groups find someone with a mental illness (I want to die! I want to kill!) and let them do what their mental illness urges… with an incredibly self-serving rationalization.
Mr Stagger Lee
Meanwhile homeless guys or people with mental health issues, somehow get suckered in outlandish plots to blow up buildings in the big cities,by informants of the FBI, are prosecuted to the utmost vigor. Oh and don’t get me started on some cancer or Glaucoma patient growing some marijuana for medicinal use. Holder and his gang go all Zero Dark Thirty on them. Oh but the Pro-Life terrorists??
LanceThruster
@burnspbesq:
You are correct. I was making a point more on the double standard rather than the legality of Gitmo itself (which I agree should be closed).
LanceThruster
@Jebediah:
It is certainly worth a try. These healthcare workers are remarkably heroic in the face of such painfully real threats.
Another Halocene Human
WTF, how can this guy openly talk about killing people and not get hauled into court?
Oh yeah, I forgot he’s WHITE.
Jacobi
“Army of God” is the English translation of Hezbollah. Just sayin’.

I could snark and say “It’s time to arm the doctors…” but Dr. Britton & Jim Barrett were ambushed and shot point blank with a shotgun as they pulled into the clinic right around the corner from where I sit. Jim had a .45 under his driver seat. July 29 will be 19 years–and still nothing’s really been done to crush the fundie terrorists.
Same clinic was firebombed and destroyed by some homeless whackaloon who’d been listening to fundies “protesting” at the clinic. He took it upon himself to give the place the Molotov cocktail treatment Jan. 1, 2012. He was arrested within days, the clinic moved a few miles, and the terrorists continue “protesting.” No consequences for them.
Patricia Kayden
Why isn’t the mainstream media all over this? Are they waiting for more doctors to be murdered? This needs to be front page news in every paper. Also, President Obama/Dems need to be talking about this loudly and clearly. Seems like the anti-choicers know they can act with impunity.
Barry
They’re terrorists, and should be treated as such.
As well as their backers – especially their backers.
a non mouse
I lurk but rarely publish…and chose a different nym for this.
I am an OB-GYN in middle America. I have prescribed RU-486. I have done second tri abortions for fetal anomalies. I don’t like the word to get out because I have young children. My husband is considering getting a concealed carry because of the lunatics out there. I don’t want my life to come to that. I am cowardly compared to the other docs out there.
Situations like mine are one reason why abortion rights are becoming scarcer…who will do them?
Paul in KY
@liberal: Unfortunately, if a close relative dies & you know the reason, I don’t think there is any law against telling people the manner of death.
Paul in KY
@Villago Delenda Est: I think their ‘God’ is those demon’s boss.
Paul in KY
@burnspbesq: After what the Cheney Crime Family did, the Obama Goodness Family is going to bend over backwards (IMO) to ensure that doesn’t happen.
Paul in KY
@Trollhattan: I would say that doctor can now legitimately ‘fear for her life’ & if she blasts one of those wackos, no competant grand jury would indict her.
Paul in KY
@a non mouse: You & your husband should arm yourselves (IMO).
ABL
@a non mouse: Thanks for doing what you do. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be with these terrorists threatening the lives of people like you.
Gretchen
@a non mouse: I second ABL. I’m in awe of your courage, and thank you on behalf of my three daughters. One thing I find about conservatives is that they live in a world of theory. When you get right down to facts, such as “My pregnant daughter has a lot of health problems. If her pregnancy threatens her health or life, are you willing to let her die?” My conservative nephew angrily accused me of playing the emotion card about his beloved cousin. My view is, it’s not playing, it’s a real possibility, and when you pull out of the realm of theory, what are you going to do? Conservatives don’t want to leave the theoretical, because it takes them into hard choices. I’m not willing to sacrifice my daughter’s health or life for somebody else’s ivory-tower theory. But protecting her would not be possible without brave people like you, a non mouse. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Jebediah
@a non mouse:
I’m grateful that people like you will do dangerous things because it is right to do them. You are an inspiration.
b-psycho
@Jacobi:
Someone should inform them of that so their heads can explode.
johnny aquitard
@liberal: I would not be surprised to learn they have moles in some clinics snooping when they can, or are doing some system hacks or industrial espionage type info gathering. It’s for Jesus and teh baybees, so it’s cool.
These people put together enemies’ lists of the doctors, nurses and directors. I don’t see why they’d have scruples against putting together a “slut’s list” of all the women they can learn who have an abortion.
