I don’t even know what’s happening. Seriously, what just happened?
On today’s #TWiBRadio, we learn some gossip about Sean Hannity, Awkward Dacia is Awkward, and we discuss regional bias and humor in listener feedback.

And this morning on #amTWiB, #TheMorningCrew spent more time discussing the NYPD’s controversial stop-and-frisk policy, the State Department goes into full panic mode on Twitter, and “Hey Girl”-ing with STD testing.

Basically, Hannitty was throwing out dog whistles and expecting the two black men to validate them. It didn’t quite work out.
I literally get sick to my stomach listening to Hannity.
Carl Nyberg
“credit to the race”?
Carl Nyberg
Black “Conservatives” persecuted?
They are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action.
Frankensteinbeck
@Felinious Wench:
I tried to watch it to find out what’s going on, but I couldn’t stomach him.
Cermet
@Carl Nyberg: NO, only second biggest at best – elite white ass wipe kids are the biggest beneficiaries, by far. Like every top college and med school has legacy openings for these assholes – rich white men buy this privilege for their ass wipe spawn so these self centered bastards born on third get into all the top schools … causing these losers to believe they hit the home run. Shit, even all the tax laws are designed to benefit them in special ways; then we have the low life pigs that enforce laws so that mostly poor black teens end up in jail. The system is rigged for the whites that hold all power.

Memo to “Black Conservatives” : You are too small and unimportant to be worth any attention. Liberals cannot be bothered with you, let alone persecuting you, and if you stop saying crazy shit no one will pay attention to you. You are not a threat to anyone. You have no constituency, so stop with the stupid plantation talk and continue with your grifting.

I couldn’t watch much of it after Hannity’s set up.
So, let’s take a look at conservatives who have been
vilified and persecutedridiculed and contradicted because they spout nonsense and (on a good day) misleading half-truths at best:Newtie
Palin
Keyes
Cain
Perry
Santorum
Ryan
Rivera
Mitt
Rove
Hannity
random Cheneys
Coulter
Geller
(I could go on, but won’t)
What do they all have in common? Gender? Age? Race? Ethnicity? Weight? Moobs? What? They spout nonsense and (on a good day) misleading half-truths at best.
Regarding ‘misleading half-truths at best’, I request a gold star and ten brownie points for excessive politeness.
Just Some Fuckhead
Had a black conservative that worked for me years ago. He was constantly ranting against black people in much the same way that Bill Cosby does.
I fired him first chance.
Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Is Dacia going to talk about Roger Ebert tomorrow? Because I’m going to be on vacation and will actually have time to download and listen.

@jl:
They’re all grifting the stupid fucktard rubes?
JWL
You’re encroaching on Crooks & Liars when you begin to shoot fish in the FOX barrel.
jl
@the Conster: You are rude, sir. And I feel guilty for oppressing all of them. Too bad I won’t be able to stop.
Just to show you bigoted oafs how unfair you are, Hannity admitted he was ‘conflicted’ about the Rutgers basketball coach physically abusing his players and shouting various slurs at them. See, that Hannity is a thoughtful guy.
‘ “I’m watching this and I’m thinking, ‘I don’t like it’ — he kicked one player there… but on the other hand, I kind of like old-fashioned discipline,”
“I can understand, stop hitting them maybe,” Hannity opined. “But I like the intensity, I like the drive, I like that he’s pushing those kids and he runs a tight ship. Maybe we need a little more discipline in society and maybe we don’t have to be a bunch of wimps for the rest of our lives.” ‘
Michelle Malkin (dang, why didn’t I include her on my list above?) thought it was A OK and it brought back sweet memories of her daddy whupping her as a kid.

Is that the same Hannity who said waterboarding wasn’t really a thing? Yes? So he is an authority on wussification, but not in the way he thinks.

There is just something super creepy about Hannity. Listening to him just makes you feel dirty.

@Baud:
Phoenix — not sure if that counts as “nice.” ;-) We’re going to visit my mom for the first time since my dad died in January, so it may be a bit stressful and/or emotional, but hopefully it will be a good visit.

@Fluke bucket:
I get the same vibe.

@JWL: Well, if you really want to be in C&L territory, you have to wait until two days after everyone else has covered it and then headline the story in a way that shows that you are totally overcome with outrage!
Confession: I haven’t been over there in months. Maybe they’ve changed.
Baud
@Mnemosyne:
You’re a nice daughter, but I definitely wouldn’t call that a vacation.
jl
@the Conster: I heard a clip of John Madden earlier today saying that the Rutgers coach was totally wrong and had no idea how to coach. The sad lesson for me, after absorbing the Wisdom of Hannity today is that Madden is a wimpy bigoted loser. Another hero fallen.
Edit: but, I am so glad I have a guy like Hannity to guide me to broadmindedness and success!
gbear
@Fluke bucket: He’s even super creepy with the sound off. It’s in the way his mouth moves and the way he parts his hair. He looks like a character out of a silent movie.
the Conster
@Fluke bucket:
He’s a simulacrum along the lines of Romney – but more soulless who lives to be a slime merchant with no characteristics that read “human”. Romney had instincts that could translate as “human”, but failed. If Fox fired Hannity tomorrow, he’d deflate like the pilot in the original Airplane.

The room at the Holiday Inn that I booked is supposed to have an in-room jacuzzi, so we’re calling it a vacation.

conservative blacks couldn’t make it in the world of liberal black pundits. It’s so much easier to become the big fish in the small lake of black conservatives. Its like Bloomberg becoming the republican mayor of NYC. And, oh, yeah, Hannity puts the special in FOX.
Chris
@jl:
I sometimes think every conservative pundit in the verse was a wimpy nerd who spent his middle school years being pushed into lockers by the jocks and has spent their entire life trying to push a ludicrously over the top macho image to compensate for those years.
Omnes Omnibus
@Chris: I definitely think most are overcompensating for something – which thing varies from pundit to pundit.
dance around in your bones
Anybody else watching All In with Chris Hayes tonight? Maybe it’s been on all week? but the first time I have seen it. I like.
eta: I always watched his weekend show on DVR. Too fucking early on the left coast to watch in real time.
eta2:Also want to thank whoever recommended notalwaysright.com for anoyone who have worked in food/customer service. It has been keeping me entertained all week.

Hannity said he would be waterboarded for charity and then chickened out.

@dance around in your bones:
Skipping news tonight. Not in the mood.
jl
@Chris:
” and has spent their entire life trying to push a ludicrously over the top macho image to compensate for those years. ”
But, there are a lot of wimpy nerds who get bullied to a greater or lesser extent. I wouldn’t know. I was a very large, quiet, and weird egghead and no one would bother me much, and only time I remember a jock that did, I was looking really spacey-like at him later wondering what was up with him, and he decided to apologize. I didn’t have to do anything, I just looked at him weird, I guess.
I could run long and fast too, so maybe they knew I could run them to ground sooner or later, or something.
But I digress.
There must be something else. They had no inner resources that were more constructive to use for compensation? Or, their families got in on the bullying? Must be something else.
dance around in your bones
@Baud: Prolly a good plan. I take news breaks when my heart/brain/soul needs a rest.

Attempting to analyze anything in that clip seems like trying to nail Jello to the wall.

@Mnemosyne:
Mnem, I’m sorry for your loss, truly. My Dad died in December.
Chris
@jl:
The reason I say that is the obsession so many of their pundits show with the importance of being a manly man and nor a wimp. Of course, it’s an old trope (the jocks use it too after all), but the importance right wing bloggers attach to the concept is what makes me think they’re talking to their old insecurities.
Chris
@jl:
Not sure what it is that turns them into assholes, since obviously not all bullying victims do. Probably a combination of all kinds of different things.

Black conservatives represent a point view held by less than 1 out of 10 black voters.
If anything, they’re given grossly disproportionate time to air their views.
TooManyJens
@Mnemosyne: Unfortunately, there’s no show tomorrow. It’s Monday-Thursday.
Fluke bucket
I really didn’t understand how it was that Hannity was somehow the creator of Dr. Carson. His viral video was never that much of anything anyway. The guy in the middle seemed fairly reasonable but I have no idea who he is. Hannity is just weird in a Malkin-Coulter kind of way.
Mnemosyne
@elmo:
Thanks. My husband also lost his dad last year, and my ex-sister-in-law and current sister-in-law each lost a parent, so I’m still convinced he was supposed to go in 2012 but was just too damn stubborn to go with everyone else. As it was, he lasted three days into the New Year, and I’m convinced he did it through sheer force of will because he didn’t want us to have complicated taxes in 2012. People think I’m joking, but my family knows it’s true.
@TooManyJens:
D’oh! Well, we’re driving back on Monday, so I’ll check before we get on the road (we’ll be on Mountain Standard time, so three hours behind New York — Arizona doesn’t do Daylight Saving Time).

WTF is this shit…Faux news is such a joke…They have this alleged black liberal civil rights guy on to make the counter argument to the INSANE views of Hannity and the black teabagger guy…and the “liberal” proceeds to act like a fuckin clown…While I agree with the obvious underlying point he was supposed to be making, why the fuck did he have to act like a buffoon like that…Yelling and screaming, taking off his shoe, refusing to answer Hannity’s idiotic trap question…It seems obvious to me that this was a set up to make the conservatives look calm and rational while promoting their hateful agenda
opie_jeanne
@Mnemosyne: I’m sorry that you lost your dad. I lost mine in September and still catch myself starting to call him up to tell him a joke.
There was a very short period, about 20 months, when my husband and I lost everyone except my dad from our parents’ generation and almost everyone that was left from the generation before: my husband has one great aunt in Hawai`i who is about 100 and on Facebook.
