I assumed this was their way to get some cover. Like, SEE LOOK WE EVEN TALKED TO A LIBERAL. And they pick Chris because he’s a straight white dude so at least he won’t scare the old fucks wandering around.

Well, as a veteran, my answer on the question of “Are there too many American wars?” is “One war is too many”.
But “conservatives” are notorious for not being involved in the actual conduct of wars, in the “getting shot at” sense. No, they prefer to fight their wars from offices in the Empire State Building, right on the front lines…of the ultimate rear echelon.

@Villago Delenda Est: To be fair, Villago, tall buildings in Manhattan must not seem as safe and rear-echelon as they used to . . . .

Chris Hayes will see it as a chance for civil discourse. Ralph Reed will see it as a chance to make money.

I consider it the babyface duel of good vs evil.

According to Rachel he hasn’t accepted yet. I hope honestly he does go. It would be great to watch him make poor Ralphie burst into tears.
David Koch
auditioning to be the next Alan Colmes.
MSNBC will never do this, but they should fire Hayes who’s a complete bore and hire Abby Martin.

As alluded to by Alison in the first comment, Chris Hayes is apparently more acceptable to the CPAC organizers as a straight white liberal dude than Jimmy LaSalvia is as a gay conservative activist:
Alison
@David Koch: Chris Hayes is no Alan Colmes. I don’t find him boring at all.

I’m with Alison – he’s white and straight and he’s the polite sort, so no serious challenges to orthodoxy.
You worry if he decides to be Joe Trippi.

@David Koch: Russia Today, yeah, that’s a station I’d want to be associated with.

Oh, I thought you meant an actual conservative comic book convention, as opposed to the OBVIOUSLY LIBERAL Comic-con. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Spaghetti Lee
And I thought slumming at CPAC was kind of a liberal pundit tradition. I know Maddow did it once.
Alison
@Spaghetti Lee: AFAIK Maddow’s only foray there was trying to convince the wingnuts to talk to her while they mostly ran away (Liz Cheney specifically)

After a week of watching Joe Scar’s daily rant about KThug, I decided that I needed to have pain inflicted upon myself. After having a nice young gentleman pushed needles through my skin, I took my daily walk and had a large gentleman indelibly draw some artwork on my legs. Joe Scar is still an ass and totally doesn’t understand what the good professor was saying and I now have a headache and sore legs. By Monday, I’m confident that Joe Scar will still be and ass but I will be in much less pain and have some nice jewelry and fine artwork alluding to my higher education.

@Alison: Agreed. Chris’ is the only bobblehead show I can watch and not feel like I’ve actually gotten stupider at the end. (MHP is great, too, but I’m not free during her time slot.)

I have mixed feelings about this. I hate to legitimize that clown show by having serious people attend.

CPAC? Didn’t we just have one of those last year?
