    Am I the only one this site is totes bjorked for since last night?

    MikeJ says:

    @Corner Stone: It’s like they added a caching plugin that ran amok.

    There appeared to be a synching problem in the upper right quadrant. Perhaps two squirrels on different sides?

    MikeJ says:

    @MikeJ: To add: you do get a fresh page if you force reload (ctr-shift-r) but not with a regular reload.

    Omnes Omnibus says:

    @Corner Stone: Swan dress?

    People have commented about it on other threads. I am getting the impression that Chrome is where most of the problems are showing up. I am on FF and haven’t noticed anything odd.

  6. 6
    Corner Stone says:

    @Omnes Omnibus: I’m on FF and it’s whack, yo.
    Everytime it loads it displays back to Cole’s Open Thread from last night and my credenzas are missing to post a comment.
    I haven’t had time to osmosis all the threads as I normally do.

  7. 7
    MikeJ says:

    @Omnes Omnibus: I’m getting the problems on ffox.

    Omnes Omnibus says:

    @Corner Stone: @MikeJ: I’m just lucky I guess. I am using 10.0.2.

    Yutsano says:

    MAXPUPPEH!! You have soothed the masses for now Tim.

    @MikeJ: I’m having no issues, but I figure NoScript is doing something about that extra plug-in. Nevertheless FYWP.

    JPL says:

    @Omnes Omnibus: I switched from chrome to firefox and that fixed the problem for a short time. Now I’m having problems on firefox also.

    Comrade Mary says:

    @Corner Stone: Same here on FF 18.0.1 on Win7 — I had to clear cache this morning to see new BJ posts, but it’s still not loading up new posts even with Shift-Refresh. I’m on Chrome right now.

    Here let me update to 18.0.2 —

    Please hold. Your attention is important to us! …

  14. 14
    Comrade Mary says:

    Nope, still caching like a mofo on 18.0.2. I have NoScript installed, so maybe that’s it.

  15. 15
    MikeJ says:

    @Omnes Omnibus: 20.0a2 (2013-02-07) here with problems.

  16. 16
    Cassidy says:

    Hosed on IE as well. We should all send Cole emails.

  17. 17
    Yutsano says:

    @MikeJ: Okay now it’s being bizarre, but I’m not leaping back in time as far as others are. A refresh seemed to fix it I think.

  18. 18
    Comrade Mary says:

    I had to allow and to make things refresh even a little better. Got the Marley post but not this one. Now even manual clearing of cache doesn’t work.

    Dudes, what did you add to the site?

  19. 19
    Comrade Mary says:

    @MikeJ: BTW, that opens a new tab for me. Feature or bug?

    Matthew Reid Krell says:

    So, last week the Arkansas Court of Appeals issued an opinion in a case where I ghost-wrote the brief. While reading the opinion, I get this odd feeling that I’ve seen this before. Go back and re-read the brief – damn, they plagiarized me!

    (For those who don’t know: in the practice of law, plagiarism is the highest compliment a court can pay you. It says that you were so right, the judge couldn’t come up with a better way to say it.)

    Plot twist: when I submitted this brief to the lawyer whose name went on it, he thought it was so bad that he refused to pay me and when I insisted on payment, refused to send me any more work for three months. He claimed he’d had to completely rewrite the brief. In unrelated news, I no longer accept work from this lawyer.

    @Omnes Omnibus:

    I am using 10.0.2.

    Jeez, what is that, from the late ’80s?!

    I just upgraded to 18.0.2 yesterday, and this site is running fine for me. The only minor disruption in the Force I have seen is that it has forgotten my nym and e-mail address.

  22. 22
    Yutsano says:

    @Steeplejack: I got that too (upgraded this morning) so I figure it had something to do with that. It’s at least keeping them.

  23. 23
    Steeplejack says:

    @Comrade Mary:

    I don’t have NoScript, but I do have AdBlock Plus and Stylish, and I also am having no problems (18.0.2, WinXP).

  24. 24
    Steeplejack says:

    @Matthew Reid Krell:

    I hope you send him the court’s opinion with a “Suck it, shyster!” note.

  25. 25
    Comrade Mary says:

    @MikeJ: Firefox was on 17.0.1 (!!) on my Mac, but it was stuck on Marley, too. Updated to 18.0.2 and it’s the same problem.

    So it’s not NoScript.

    OK on Windows: Chrome
    OK on Mac: Safari, Chrome

    Hosed on Windows 7: IE9, Firefox
    Hosed on Mac: Firefox

    Looks like something fuxxored on the WP end of things.

  26. 26
    Corner Stone says:

    @Comrade Mary: Also on 18.0.2 running NoScript and am on W7 OS.

    Waaaahh! I don’t wanna be borked!!

    Moved from previous thread for open-threadiness:

    God said, “I need someone who doesn’t grow anything or make anything but who will borrow money from the public at 0% interest and then lend it back to the public at 2% or 5% or 10% and pay himself a bonus for doing so.”

    “So God Made a Banker.”

  31. 31
    Comrade Mary says:

    @Yutsano: OK, you asked for it.

    What’s that spell?
    What’s that spell?
    What’s that spell?

    (I think I needed to sprinkle a little patchouli around to cool off Corner Stone.)

  32. 32
    Corner Stone says:

    @Comrade Mary: I apologize. It was all the talk about bork/borking/borked that got me.

  33. 33
    Comrade Mary says:

    @Corner Stone: Here, take your mind off it with some popcorn.

  34. 34
    schrodinger's cat says:

    @Omnes Omnibus: It does not seem to work right with Firefox either. The comments is borked. Tunch must be sitting on the server, again.

  35. 35
    Matthew Reid Krell says:

    @Steeplejack: Actually, he sent it to me. We’ve kissed and made up over this case; like I said, I don’t accept work from him because of an unrelated issue.

    We’re still friends.

    Atrios has a column in USA Today today and it’s a good one.

    Basically he’s saying the 401(k) experiment is a massive failure. Go give it a read.

    The more I read about Sally Jewell–Obama’s nominee for Interior Secretary–the more I love her.

    If confirmed, President Obama’s nominee for secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewell, wouldn’t be the first woman to hold the position, but she would break the mold in plenty of other ways. Like, she must be the first cabinet member to have climbed the highest mountain in Antarctica, living in a tent for 29 days in January on what she told the Indianapolis Star was “a little sabbatical,” right? A mother of two and consummate outdoorswoman, Jewell is vice chairman of the National Parks Conservation Association, but otherwise has no political experience. However, with a long career that spans the masculine realms of oil, banking, and corporate boardrooms, it’s hard to imagine she would feel out of place in Obama’s cabinet, no matter how many white dudes he appoints.

    And what I do read is damn crass. Article in today’s paper noted how this should help Netflix because they’ll somehow magically save money by only paying postage five days a week instead of six. I don’t really understand how they drew that conclusion, but it’s the pathology of “every cut to government is a good cut.”

    Apropos of nothing in particular, it occurred to me last night that the Jack the Ripper creature from that original Star Trek episode “Wolf in the Fold” would be ideal GOP candidate in 2013.

    All you’d have to do is stand him up and he’d scream “No, no, kill you all, die, make you suffer!” And he’d win every Republican primary in a landslide.
