Personally, I am watching the puppy bowl and can not get enough of it. Those damned hedgehogs are ADORABLE. Puppy Bowl may be as genius a marketing move as Shark Week.

We’re watching puppy bowl, too. Someone just bit Marta’s tail, poor thing. Where are the damn refs?

Since I hate the Ravens equally as the Steelers, Go the fuck San Francisco. A Super Bowl trophy in granola town is all kinds of Americana/

I don’t get Animal Planet on my tee-vee box.
I’m enjoying a pregame viewing of “Zoolander.”

I hear there will be a kitty scrimmage

“Live every bowl like it’s Puppy Bowl!”
No cable. Will just sulk here instead.

Please vote for Biscuit for Most Valuable Puppy! http://animal.discovery.com/tv-shows/puppy-bowl/games-and-more/most-valuable-puppy.htm
The Sato Project is an incredibly worthy dog rescue group and Biscuit is one of theirs.

@gene108: You’re still better off than us sad bastids avoiding housework by chronically clicking the ‘refresh’ button…

Who am I supposed to root for here? Neither the Colts nor the Bears are playing, so I can’t rely on the locals.
Also, how damn long does it take for frozen meatballs to cook? I’m running out of pre-game here, meatballs!
TheMightyTrowel
I have been trying to explain the puppybowl to non-Americans for years.
The usual response is ‘why not just watch YouTube’

If the 49ers win the Tea Party will be rioting across America.
A black QB who was raised by white parents celebrating in the White House will be too much for them to take.

This should be an interesting game; under normal circumstances, I’d go with the Niners, but I hate that their starer is a first year starter and their kicker will be in need of a couch or a comfy, padded room after the game. This should be a field goal game and I just have a feeling that, after this game, Akers will be known as “Norwood” (hey, it’s better than “No Wood”).
I’m calling Ravens in a squeaker.

We had a wildly successful Souper Bowl Sunday at my church: we raised ~$600 for Second Harvest, and my soup was the first to get eated! It was Smitten Kitchen’s Black Bean & Pumpkin, always a winner. I made it vegan for our one vegan guy, but he was too tired to stick around after service.

Is the puppy bowl being streamed? Although I am not sure how I feel about Sandy Hook elementary school students singing at the super bowl I am going to watch it.

Why not combine Puppy Bowl and Shark Week.
Hey, we’re cat people.

YAY gun victim survivors singing patriotic songs. BRILLIANT!!!!

@JPL:
Does it make me a bad person that my first thought about them was “Leni Riefenstahl would have approved”?

I hope Alica Keyes wears something smokin hawt for the nat anthem.
Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again)
Oh, the joyous expectation of getting to listen to Phil Simms for the next 4+ hours!

Please, someone, concuss me now.

I mean maybe it makes me a hater, but the exceptionolist religiosity of these pregame things always rubs me wrong.

@the Conster: They did a beautiful jobs and if others at home are wiping tears like I am maybe the gun laws in our country will be changed.
The children are just glad to be there and are having the time of their life. My goodness singing with Jennifer Hudson.
Badmoodman
Now you know why Beyonce lip synced. Sheesh.
David Koch
Dayum. Alica is hawt, even without make-up.

Considering the money on the prop bet on how long it takes Alicia Keys to sing the national anthem, you would think that CBS would have a running clock on the screen.

I know that Biscuit has a wonderful and inspiring story, and Chestnut really gave a good run at MVP, but I did feel that Marta deserved the award and I was glad she won.
I had tons of fun watching the Puppy Bowl and reading Twitter. I made special Puppy Bowl snack foods so me and Mr. J are stuffed and happy.

@Pooh:
I feel the same way about the militarism
Suffern ACE
@Pooh: well, if it gives you a little hope for the future, Air Force flyovers of sporting events are going to be cut as part of the sequestor.
The Dangerman
@Badmoodman:
Yeah, Alicia kinda sucked.
At least we were spared the flyover because of the dome.
Badmoodman
Have the Newtown children been exploited enough yet?
(Yes, that’s rhetorical.)
JPL
@Pooh: IMO, it depends on the meaning of propaganda.
Comrade Mary
I’m watching the livestream and all I see are sleeping puppies. Did I miss the kitty halftime show?
The Dangerman
Alright BJers, it’s heads!
Pooh
LETS GO.
JPL
@Suffern ACE: OH NO… What about the shows the Blue Angels give around the country?
David Koch
@Suffern ACE: they’ll be replaced by Droooooooooooooooooooooooones.
Comrade Mary
Why am I in moderation for my previous comment? I didn’t see any bad words.
Anyway: stream is here, but all I see are snoozing pups.

If I use the SAP button, will I hear Phil Simms in Spanish? Gack.

We put the PuppyBowl on in the basement for WarriorGirl, and How it’s Made on in our bedroom. I can watch PBS on the broadcast-only TV in the kitchen, but we’ve already eaten the homemade pizza.
I’m voting for the comet. Honestly, isn’t it time for another round of Iridium Years?

My first Puppy Bowl! Had to track down Animal Planet on this system. But after Anne Laurie’s post on it yesterday, had to see it. Cuter than could ever imagine cuteness.
Can’t believe all of these puppies don’t get adopted. The Washington Post article said most of them did. And that the kittens had already all been adopted. (YAY!) And also hope that the shelters say “come on in, we got more” when they get the calls. But imagine they’re all prepped to max the local PR on this.
AnimalPlanet.com has the “starting line-up” that pictures each pup and mentions its “Adoption Organization”. But those org sites are not linked. And there is no description or indication I can find in the Puppy Bowl section about adopting.
ETA: WP going lil crazy, if double post, very sorry

Watching Puppy Bowl while waiting to go to dinner with the in-laws. Everyone arrived safely and we even brought them to the apartment for a couple of hours to freak the cats right the eff out.
Is it just me, or is the Puppy Bowl more commercial than last year? I am not enjoying the cut-ins of the “stars” of various Animal Planet shows, and the commercial for breath mints by the referee was just annoying. But the Kiss Cam is freakin’ adorable, I must admit.

I miss the good Shark Week. Back before it was a reality show version of Jaws.

@Mary from Ohio:
Those two are very cute. Hope they find good homes, too.
