    The only game I’ve got right now is Eagles-Redskins. Ugh. So ugh that I’m switching between it and women’s golf.

    Awaiting Colts-Patriots at 4:00 and (somewhat eagerly) awaiting Ravens-Steelers at 8:00.

    Thanks John, Trying to make sense out of the middle east problem is over my head. Also, too Atlanta just scored so that’s good.

    Trying to make sense out of the middle east problem is over my head.

    It’s the most heated rivalry in the league.

    The first showdown of the two regular season Super Bowls.

    @Just Some Fuckhead:

    I don’t follow either team in minute detail, so maybe you can tell me: is Baltimore too damaged by injuries, or is that balanced by Roethlisberger being out?

    Earlier I was worried about a Steelers rout; now I’m worried about two depleted teams stumbling through a snoozefest.

    My spouse wants to know why I’m so interested in watching a football game with a 55-yard line, all those people milling around before the snap, and something called “objectionable conduct”.

    Then I mention that the season wraps up by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and that seems to go over pretty well.

    I’m figuring BC in the West, Montreal in the East.

    Webber blocks Alonso, but Hamilton dogs Vettel until the tire changes. If he can pull a lead there he holds it to the end, foiling Vettel and making everyone hold their breaths until Brazil. Discuss.

    The middle east, is that Baltimore, Washington DC, and Tennessee?

  14. 14
    The Dangerman says:

    I’m still recovering from yesterday; Trojans go down and Ducks go down. I was rooting for KSU, but it’s not like they lost a squeaker, so good riddance. I don’t see how USC takes out ND next week, so one team is set (and they will be drubbed by whomever they play).

    Jesus H. Christ, Mason Crosby! Make a fucking field goal!

    Just Some Fuckhead says:

    @Steeplejack: Ellerbe plays well in Ray Lewis’ position, no issues there. Jimmy Smith isn’t nearly as good as Ladarius Webb, so that one hurts. Haloti Ngata has been fighting injuries all season so there’s concern there.

    Aside from injuries, Flacco doesn’t seem to be as “mechanical” as someone who thinks they are an elite quarterback should be. The offense either seems to be completely ineffective or playing lucky.

    As far as the Steelers, they are only as good as Roethlisberger is able to improvise. He’s a single person game changer like no one else in the league. It can’t be good with him out.

    @The Dangerman:

    Probably Alabama. But the computers really love Florida. They may end up screwing this whole thing up.

  20. 20
    The Dangerman says:

    @Mark S.:

    But the computers really love Florida. They may end up screwing this whole thing up.

    Florida has to find a way to win the SEC and it looks like they won’t even get a chance since Georgia beat them (I haven’t checked schedules to see who plays who in the SEC; I’m still getting over that UCLA might play Stanford two consecutive weeks, which is royally screwed up, but it is what it is).

  21. 21
    Mark S. says:

    This is embarrassing to admit. It’s actually more embarrassing than the fact that I used to be a Republican. I am a Cowboys fan.

    And not a fair weather one. I do remember that fucking 1-15 season. But I might finally be over them. They are a poorly coached, hugely stupid team. And they are never going to change, because when Jerry Jones dies and goes to hell, one of his idiot sons is going to take over.

    I’d convert to Steelerism if it weren’t for Roethlisberger.

  22. 22
    Corner Stone says:

    I hope vaunted Defensive Guru Wade Phillips decides to start double teaming Blackmon this half, at some point. The Jags have no one else on the outside.

  23. 23
    The Dangerman says:

    @Paul in KY:

    Georgia or Bama is licking their chops.

    Either will crush the Domers; we could have been saved from this unfortunate ending if Pitt hadn’t choked (or perhaps the Refs didn’t choke the end of ND/Stanford away). But, as with the last post, it is what it is. I can’t recall the last time I rooted for the Trojans (true blue Bruin here), but I’ll be doing so next week. If ND does go down and Stanford beats UCLA (thus closing the door on the Ducks), the BCS will be chaos.

  24. 24
    Mark S. says:

    @The Dangerman:

    If Florida sits at home during the SEC championship and ends up ranked 3rd in the polls, it’s conceivable the computers could put them over the top.

    If you aren’t into football, the husband and I just saw “The Sessions.” What an amazing movie. Funny .. sad … poitgnant … all rolled into one. Bring a Kleenex or two, unless you’re Dick Cheney. And even he might need an extra supply of batteries for that thing where his heart used to be.

    I watched it for a bit, but unlike most Eagle’s fans, who are raised to root for the Eagles from a young age, I realize as a transplant to the greater Philadelphia area what the Eagles need to play for is a high draft pick.

    They have some very good talent in place, but need to rebuild the offensive line. A good offensive line can cover up so many deficiencies in a QB, plus McCoy behind a top notch offensive line would be good.

  40. 40
    JPL says:

    Matt Ryan is not alert today…ugh! Arizona doesn’t have a qb and we still are having problems. This does not bode well for the future.

    P.S.: Watch out for the Komodo Dragon.

  58. 58

    @Keith: And how can they recount the votes in Florida?

  59. 59
    Kathy says:

    @👽 Martin: I watched it too, vastly preferable to the disaster that is the Eagles. It looks like LeSean McCoy went out so draft picks and a new coach are the only things to look forward too.

    That being said, the F1 race was a lot of fun. A pass for the lead on the track, outstanding! Plus the championship will go down to the last race in Brazil, a great season.

  60. 60
    👽 Martin says:

    @Just One More Canuck: Nice to get two really evenly matched cars at the front. Would have preferred more pit strategy, though. Maybe well get different tires next year. Or a bit of rain. Love wet/dry races.

  61. 61
    Mr Stagger Lee says:

    That is why Pat Shurmur will be fired at the end of the season as well as Mike Holmgren(yeah resigned, but he was forced out)

  62. 62
    JPL says:

    @Keith: According to the Palm Beach Post

    West’s camp, however, said it has no intention of conceding and that Gov. Rick Scott and Secretary of State Ken Detzner “will have to take a look at these recounts,” West campaign manager Tim Edson said.

  63. 63

  71. 71
    Just One More Canuck says:

    @👽 Martin: Agreed on the pit strategy. If it were even a bit colder it would make the tire choices more interesting. The people in Austin did a fantastic job. Hopefully the organizers of the New Jersey race can get their act together for next year.

  72. 72
    JWL says:

    @CW in LA: Boy, you’re not kidding. That personal foul call against the Browns that kept the game tying drive alive was unbelievably botched. It was as clean a hit as you’re ever going to see, albeit one where the wide receiver paid the piper.
