Quick reminder: It is GOTV time.
Click the links to connect with the Obama Campaign in the following States:
Iowa • New Hampshire • Colorado • Nevada • Ohio
Virginia • Florida • Wisconsin • North Carolina
Find out how to help with GOTV for other states at vote.barackobama.com.
Daily Kos and Worker’s Voice have a GOTV effort that you can plug into at this link.
There are many other GOTV efforts underway for Senate, Congress and ballot initiatives that could use your mojo as well (here is a list of the House races Democrats could win and here are three Senate races that GOTV can win).
There are less than 10 days left and early voting has begun. We can’t leave anything on the table.
What are your GOTV plans?
Cheers

I’m probably canvassing Wednesday evening, then doing God knows what over the weekend depending on my husband’s work schedule and whether I’m on child care duty, then canvassing/phone banking/lit dropping all day next Monday and Tuesday. Then hopefully celebrating with local Dems next Tuesday night.

Getting home from Austria on Tuesday thankfully through Chicago which should not be affected by Sandy. Then will spend the rest of the week/weekend phone banking or door knocking. I did some of this before we left a few weeks ago and I know the drill. Walk into HQ, ask what I can do, do it.

not going to try to edit, but I’m in La Crosse WI and hope to see Tammy Baldwin defeat that creep Thompson, and also hope that Ryan has to go home to his historic home and live with his supposedly democratic wife.. God I hate these assholes.

Will go out canvassing post-Sandy.
Feel like we’re all in suspended animation waiting for this storm.

Since I’ll be out of town until 11-5 I dropped off another $60 worth of Costco munchies at the local Dem headquarters today. I’ll get some pizzas for them on 11-6. I hate the telephone so this is my way of supporting them and hopefully getting Tester re-elected. I don’t think Obama will take Montana.

Canvassing in Dayton, OH next weekend. The OFA office hasn’t returned either my email or call, so I figure I’m just going to show up unannounced and see where they direct me and my friends to knock on doors.

I’ll prolly do a whole bunch of nothin’.
Can’t walk far enough to be worth a thing.

Will be phonebanking tomorrow night for Ed Headington in CA AD 38. Don’t forget that the local races count too!

Yesterday it sounded like everyone would be taking the day off here in South PA for storm prep.
MaryJane
Yup! Yesterday and today I’m phonebanking for the only Dem running for a seat on our City Council, and for Props 30 (Yes) and 32 (No).

Four days of GOTV starting Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day until the 6th (when we’ll go ’til the polls close). Using my home as a so-called staging area for my precinct. If you’re anywhere near Cedar Rapids, IA we could still use lots more volunteers. Contact Betty Cracker – she’ll give you my email address.

Did data entry all day yesterday in CA-7. The race is currently a dead heat. It is absolutely amazing how many registered voters have no clue about who is running in this race. There are TV ads every five minutes. Bill Clinton came to town to endorse Ami Bera. Most people flat out don’t care and it makes me ill. Good news though: Sandra Fluke will be here to phonebank with us tomorrow!

I’m an election judge Nov. 6, so I just voted today. A coupla things:
ATTENTION MARYLAND VOTERS: POLLS ARE CLOSED MONDAY DUE TO EXPECTED WEATHER
Besides that, I was in line for 50 minutes, nearly unheard of around here although someone in line had come by yesterday and seen the same thing. The election coordinator said that they had over 1400 voters during yesterday’s 10 hour period, more than the entire week of early voting in 2008.
Hungry Joe
Precinct walking in San Diego for Yes/30, No/32, and Filner for mayor. (His opponent, Carl DeMaio, is a Gingrich-spawned libertarian horrorshow.) Next week: add phone banking for Obama. I find phone banking harder — I don’t mind knocking on doors, but I have to force myself to make calls. Maybe it’s because people don’t mind hanging up on you, but are reluctant to slam a door in your face — or even to be rude to an in-the-flesh person.
Memo to self: After the election, start a doorbell repair business. At least 60% are out of order.

Here is one way to keep up with early voting data, etc.:

Had to drive to WV today so yesterday my wife and I stood in line for 70 minutes (in Burtonsville) to cast our votes for Obama and Cardin and for the MD dream act and for gay marriage. We felt absolutely giddy with pride.

@efgoldman: Careful there, ef, or you’ll have Speculum or Corner Stone calling you a RAAAACIIIIST for pointing out the obvious.

Why isn’t the Blog Lord of Balloon Juice himself doing any of this GOTV (read: annoying the hell out of people trying to have some peace and quiet and privacy in their own fucking homes) of which you speak?
Does this not tell you something about his commitment or lack thereof to the cause of PBO?
Why are the third tier front pagers doing all the make-work while he relaxes on his Barcalounger and watches football?

My interpretation of Stoller’s notion of using 2012 for “practice:”
I will happily trade my one Colorado swing state vote for Obama for a half a million 3rd party candidate votes, made by anyone, for any third party POTUS candidate on their ballot, in any safe Blue (or Red!) state. And, lest you think I’ve overpriced (assuming the link is correct):

Do they make a lot of shoes up there in New Hampshire? And–oh my GOD–is that a CIGARETTE on Virginia? Wee-hee, that is some _vintage_ educational toy action.

@Johnny Coelacanth: Little different than naming someone specific a racist because it fits your idea of a joke.
If you are incapable of reading and understanding Dennis’ own words, that is not my problem.

Our household filled out our mail in ballots here in MN today, so count 3 for O, no and no, plus getting rid of Cravaak.

@Johnny Coelacanth:
More stupidity. You’ve got it exactly backward.

@Johnny Coelacanth:
Hey Cruellacanth, question: If having O in office has actually INCREASED racist attitudes, why would you want him in there longer?
Increased racism seems like a bad thing to me? Not you, bro?

@PsiFighter37:
To find an OFA GOTV event near you, just use the Event Search tool on the PBO website: You can RSVP directly from the website.
My neighborhood in central NC (Winston-Salem suburb) has been phone banking for PBO since August – at least twice a week. Our efforts have morphed from identify/persuasion calls to pure GOTV in the last couple of weeks. Early voting in NC is exceeding the 2008 numbers considerably – as of Saturday, 10/27, 1,467,957 early votes had been cast in NC compared to 1,220,706 in the same time frame in 2008. Yesterday, RCP moved NC back into ‘toss up’ status. From here on the ground, it looks like it’s going to be very close but, hey, NC only went blue in 2008 by just under 14,000 votes. We will fight for every last vote.

Data specialist providing regional hub support for OFA in California. Starting 10th hour of a 12 hour shift support GOTV efforts for 5 staging locations making approximately 8000 calls so far. At one point, I was providing data support for 12 staging locations in an entire Region.
Tomorrow I fly to Cincinnati for work (if Sandy allow), then back on Friday and return to my hubs on Saturday.

@Craig:
I remember this puzzle–I worked on it when I was four. I learned all the states and the state capitals from it–I can even remember most of the colors of the puzzle pieces. To this day, my friends think I’m some sort of egghead because I knew all the state capitals by the time I got to first grade. Eventually I came to realize that that sort of thing isn’t the same as actually being able to think. When it comes time to think, I’m at sea as often as not.
