Shots Fired at Obama Campaign’s Denver Headquarters

This is bananas:

Police say someone fired a shot at the Obama campaign’s Denver headquarters Friday afternoon.

No one was injured, though people were inside the offices when the incident occurred, said Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.

“It looks like it was one shot that was fired into the structure,” she said.

The incident happened at about 3 p.m. at the campaign’s offices on West Ninth Avenue near Acoma Street, Lopez said.

Sam Levin, a reporter for the alternative newspaper Westword, later posted a photo on Twitter showing one of the office’s large, front windows broken out.

I imagine the Secret Service is working on overtime as we get closer to the election. Crazy people are everywhere.

My wife heard about this and she told me that she found out today that a window at the local Obama campaign headquarters here in Brookings, Oregon, was broken last week. She said that the police didn’t find out how it was broken, just that it was. Our local rag buried the story in the back of our tiny paper saying that they don’t front page vandalism stories. I guess people are complaining about the lack of prominent local coverage.

I am only reporting what my wife heard, I have not read the local rag in years as it’s a waste of time. The fuckers who do this need to be caught and punished to the max.

I remember sitting at the Amtrak station in Chicago about two weeks after the election in 2008 – a number of us were sitting in a small group waiting for our train, and of that group there were 3 older African American men, and the three gentlemen spoke of their fears that Obama was in danger. Since that conversation, I have always been worried that the truly deranged would actually try to harm Obama.

This shooting in Denver has gotten me worried all over again. Guess it has never really gone away.

And I remember all the shit that happened to Democratic congresspeople who voted for health care reform. I just told coworkers about it the other day. We had a brick thrown at the window in the door of the law office during the collective bargaining fight in Ohio.
I say ‘thrown’ because it’s a double-pane window and they only broke the outer pane, so it didn’t go “through” the window. I get sort of a kick out of thinking of their lame, weak throw.
I came in and saw it, but it looked like a frost pattern from inside, so I didn’t know it was broken. Later, one of the women who works here saw that it was broken. She was so rattled we had to send her home.
They used our brick. We have left-over bricks stacked behind the building from when we renovated the building.
The police came and found a cutting tool left on the ledge next to the utility box so they think the person intended to cut wires or something and then saw the bricks so picked one up.
Anyway, that was 2011 and we don’t know who did it.
