Frowny Bee is generally disappointed in the liberal blogothingy debate analysis stuff today.
This has made Frowny Bee mildly annoyed. Look upon your works, liberal blogothingy. Look at that face. F-Bee, being kinda roly-poly and sober for a bee, suggests chillaxing is in order, folks.
He is cheering himself up with some pretty even-handed debate stuff here and is secure in the knowledge that this too will pass. Good advice. Keep roundy and carry on.
Of course, Frowny Bee gets even more frowny when he sees obvious voter intimidation like this in Cleveland:
According to Cleveland City Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland, who took the photo, this sign is directly across from Arbor Park Village, a subsidized housing development of more than 600 units. It is also within a few blocks of three public housing estates and right down the street from Cuyahoga Community College Metro Campus.
“This is blatant voter intimidation,” says Councilwoman Cleveland. “A direct attack in the heart of African American community meant to scare people and keep them from exercising their right to vote.”
Frowny Bee would therefore like to remind you of what the hell really matters, and liberal blogothingy self-pissing with your hair on fire is not in that gorram category, understand? Perspective, you see?
Good. Frowny Bee, outro.
Ben Franklin
, suggests chillaxing is in order, folks.
I was surprised at the extent of the panic even amongst the BJ faithful, last night.
But they are chillaxed, now, after they regained their sense of importance.
Napoleon
I have seen some of those billboards around town.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
Blog needs chillaxing.
Kittehs are in order.
Maude
Zander, I follow you on Twitter and I enjoy your tweets. Thank you for last night during the debates.
The Moar You Know
Well, shit, I don’t want Frowny Bee to stay frowny!
A bad debate isn’t going to lose the election. It may require a bit more work from us, but I still feel very strongly this election’s in the bag.
Quite frankly that’s not what I’m concerned about. Obama did not strike me as being in the best of health last night, and I’m hoping that it’s a passing, quick thing.
butler
Chillax? How can one Chillax at a time like this!?!
This mildly disappointing debate performance might be as big a game changer as the Ryan budget, or Paul Ryan’s abs, or all the lies at the RNC, or the Libya bombing, or Reverend Wright, or “clinging to their guns and religion”, or Joe the Plumber, or all the other game changers that doomed Obama in the past.
MikeJ
I’d like to see a billboard outside a Romney rally: “Tax Evasion is a Felony!”
Alison
I want a Frowny Bee.

@Maude:
Hey, I (belatedly) caught your comment about getting your NST Glow. Congrats! You said it was on sale. Did you get it on line or in a store? A little sale action might be what I need to get me off my duff and upgrade. I have the regular NST, so upgrading hasn’t been a dire necessity.
Am I wrong that I thought you were (also?) waiting to see what the new 9" HD was like?
Tone In DC
Voter intimidation in Ohio. Imagine that.
Next thing ya know, the G00pers will want to bring back poll taxes and literacy tests.
PeakVT
Even if Obama has three bad debates, he will still win in November. But the margin matters, both for legitimacy reasons, and because it will influence down-ticket races. So over the next week, the O-Team needs to work the refs, put out a good set of ads using Rmoney’s statements from the debates, and figure out how to debate jello. I’m pretty sure the O-Team can do the first two.
jibeaux
I linked it before so apologies, but my nonpolitical smile today was from this.
Tractarian
That bee isn’t frowning.
He’s upside-down and VERY angry.
Eric U.
I noticed a lot of first time posters freaking out, but only a few regulars. Hmm
Maude
@Steeplejack:
I settled on the NST. I ordered from B&N late Sunday afternoon and took it out of the mail lady’s hands yesterday.
No HD for me. I don’t need all the extra stuff now. I have the laptop.
The Glow Light is neat. I read in a darkish room with no glare and no trouble. There’s a slider that you can adjust brightness.
It was far easier to set up. The USA and wall charger plug came with it.
I charged it, went out to go to the cafe for wifi. The NST picked up the signal on the back porch and I registered it seconds.
I have two library books on it and had no trouble there.
I love it. It changes my life as it makes it easier to read.
The mail lady was interested and when I told her it was $119 plus sales tax, she was surprised that it was so low.
It’s on sale over at the B&N site.
Usually I buy something and it goes on sale the next day.
Maude
@Tractarian:
He’s gonna beat the living tar out of those Repubs, too.
appleinaz
So, you’re basically saying you don’t want to hear things that hurt your feelings? OK, have a nice life. Or look soberly at what happened and tell your candidate – that wasn’t OK.
kindness
I don’t believe in violence but I do believe a sufficient amount of charcoal lighter fluid would be just the right thing for that billboard.
Anyone got a lighter?
Steeplejack
@Maude:
Thanks for the info. So I guess you didn’t have an e-reader before? I think you will really like the Simple Touch, especially, as you said, you don’t need the extra browser/tablet stuff. I have had mine for almost a year and like it a lot. A good reading experience, and so convenient to get the instant gratification of downloading a book at any time of the day or night.
I guess they are putting the Glow on sale to reduce the inventory before the new models come out.
Fourten
Is Frowny Bee stuffed with bread?
Eric U.
@kindness: that really should be illegal. What sort of voter fraud are inner city dwellers actually going to perform? You have to be rich to vote in more than one state
Maude
@Steeplejack:
I think so and in UK they may be selling it there and you know how gloomy England is with all that rain.
Never had an ereader before and I’m not looking back. I didn’t get a cover, I make one when I get around to it. Now I can prop it up against a paper book with an eraser.
People who say ereaders are a passing phase are the same as those who said same about autos.
Edit to say, I didn’t want a Kindle.
It’s like a Nook for every occasion. Good on B&N.
Supernumerary Charioteer
I also require a Frowny Bee.

I slept fitfully last night, imagining tweets about Mitts mendacity.
When I actually woke up, I decided I’d be better off giving money to Elizabeth Warren, Claire McCaskill, and probably the dude running against Mme. La Bachmann.
Which I shall do yet today. Because controlling at least one, maybe both houses of Congress will matter. And Obama is clearly not out of this race over one 90 minute debate.
Heck, he’s got plenty of etch-a-sketch Mitt to use as source material for debates II and III if he wants to.
Carry on. It’s gonna work.
RaflW
@The Moar You Know:
I noticed the dyspepsia too. I’m pondering what he got briefed on yesterday evening re: Turkey and Syria. That’d fuck up most sitting President’s plans for whooping a debate partner.*
“Happy anniversary/debate day! Possible hot war on line two, Mr. President.”
.
*OK, I know Obama’s style does not include whoop-ass. But, y’know, not phoning it in, either.
imonlylurking
@Alison: I do, too. Frowny bee FTW!
Mnemosyne
I’m guessing Obama’s dyspepsia had a whole lot to do with this.
It’s easy for Mitt to have a relaxed debate performance when he doesn’t have to spend the hours prior to the debate on a conference call with the other NATO members trying to get Turkey to calm the fuck down.
Xenos
@kindness: I suppose it is still civil disobedience even if it is not non-violent disobedience.
Getting some news reporters and cameras out to the company that owns those billboards might be helpful, too. Make a community project out of ridiculing the billboards can also be done. The non-violent solutions tend to work better in the long run.
But my immediate reaction also went to wondering what sort of vandalism would be most satisfying to watch or perpetrate. I am unevolved that way.
Genine
Frowny Bee makes me smile.
Interrobang
In my not so humble opinion, Frowny Bee should become the new (inanimate) blog mascot. Tunch can be our figurehead.
Joel
My parents are visiting turkey right now. Kind of concerning.
Matt McIrvin
@The Moar You Know: Besides the Turkey/Syria situation, Obama had flown in just a few hours earlier from sea level. Acclimating to 5,000 feet altitude isn’t hard, and you might not even notice you’re having trouble; but I know from experience that if you have to do something physically exhausting, like haul suitcases up a hill, you can tell you’re not quite at 100% for the first day or so. Doing a presidential debate after dealing with an international crisis could well be in the same category.
JustAnotherBob
I hope there is effort ongoing to use these billboards to motivate people to register and vote. Invoke the image of people fighting for their rights while fire hoses and attack dogs are being used to drive them back.
“Screw these assholes that are trying to take our votes away! Get registered and vote these people out office. Do it for Rosa and Martin!”
If you live in a community targeted by these billboards just take a picture of one. Make up a simple message to go with it and get some copies made. Spread them around your community along with phone numbers where people can get help registering.
Turn anger in to action.
Comrade Mary
Beedogs. You’re welcome.
Randy P
Nate Silver has Obama at 86% today. I realize it’s too early to show debate effects, but I saw one worrier here predict that the number might drop to 70% as a result of last night.
Know what? I’m not sure it will drop at all. If it does, I’m betting it stays on this side of 80. Our man knows what he’s doing. He knew as well as we did that Romney was going to be emitting lies all night. I think we’re going to learn once more that he knows the right way to sucker the right wingers.
Tone In DC
@Eric U.:
Hmm indeed.

I was of the opinion that Pres. Obama only sent out a few “taps” and even those seemed to show just HOW thin-skinned his opponent was.
Rmoney freaked and got all red in the face when he said “if his plan is too good for the middle class that he doesn’t want to talk about it..” [paraphrasing best I can]
StringOnAStick
Eleven dimensions, people. Now that the “horse race is ON” meme has spread, Adelson and the Kochs will keep pouring money into Rmoney instead of switching funds from Mitt into downticket races. Sounds as plausible as anything else out there, and anything that helps that pit of vipers waste more of their no-doubt ill-gotten gains is OK with me.
