Is there an Act Blue donation page for Key Congressional Races so if someone wants to help down ticket races, they can donate there? If there is a page, can it be linked too?
Baud
I miss those “Why can’t Obama close the deal with…” stories.
BGinCHI
@Violet: Second this.
We need to give where it will help in the House races.
Anyone know a good place to see where a Dem is close and needs help?
Valdivia
You calling him never ever gets old. I love me the MetroSexual Black Abe Lincoln.
eemom
Too beautiful of a song for Romtron. There must be some “stick a fork in him” lyrics out there somewhere.
Michael
The big take-away from Nate this morning is that Romney has literally zero paths to victory out of 25,000 simulations without 1 of Florida or Ohio.
Napoleon
People need to give to down ballot races at this point.
BGinCHI
@Valdivia: According to Romney he’s just the right height.
Valdivia
@BGinCHI:
lol.
Because I am relaying on you guys to let me know about the debates: do you think we should worry about it? i see so many people saying Romney is an amazing debater and Obama is not?
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@BGinCHI: the people running against Steve King (Fucking Loon-IA) and Michelle Bachmann are said to be within striking distance. IIRC the woman running against King is the daughter (?) of Tom Vilsack, who to us may be the doof who fired Shirley Sherrod, but a big name helps in this sort of thing. Chris Murphy in CT might be one worth looking at. Maybe the guy running against Alan West? Or Richard Cremona in AZ?

Ah but those polls are sekret in the tank for the Post Modernist Obummer-Hilter polls.

I want to say that the batshit crazy, desperation, ni*CLANG* stuff is about to start…
But I honestly get the feeling that Mittens just doesn’t really feel like running for President anymore.
He’s just going through the motions, running the clock out, until he can stop being Mitt Romney, the inadequate, pathetic candidate…and get back to being Mitt Romney, “King of Vulture Capitalism”, — “Titan of Wall St.”, — etc., etc…
EconWatcher
Right now, the Mittster is thinking, “this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.” And he’s just the guy to do it.
I predict some kind of combination hail Mary pass/kamikaze maneuver from him during the debates, some kind of really wild accusation or ludicrous promise. He’s hanging by a very thin thread, and I dig that about him.
He’ll do something memorable. And it will be the end of him.
Hill Dweller
@Valdivia:
I hope people continue to downplay Obama’s chances. They did the same thing before the McCain debates. In fact, I’d love to see Obama joke about facing Willard without a teleprompter.

@Michael: He’ll get Florida. Gubbnah Propecia will take care to adjudicate the voting irregularities that are certain to “happen” in a fair and just manner. Surely.
Ohio….well….not sure that legy is so inclined to commit felonious actions.

@Hill Dweller:
I remember Obama cleaning McCain’s clock in the so called town hall style debate that was supposed to be McCain’s forte…
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Valdivia: I think that Romney will speak in complete sentences and not actually start screaming at Obama “YOU ARE THE BLACK DEVIL FORETOLD IN THE FOURTH GOLDEN PLATE OF JOSEPH SMITH!” while rending his garments down to the sacred small clothes, he will be declared the winner by CNN and the Washington Post, and based on his history, he will have some odd bald-faced lie that Obama will not be ready for, that the same tools will say raises Serious Questions. I’d say it’s 60/40 that result over Romney’s innate arrogance and rage at being challenged make him blow it, if not in the spectacular way I would like to see.
Barry
@Valdivia: “Because I am relaying on you guys to let me know about the debates: do you think we should worry about it? i see so many people saying Romney is an amazing debater and Obama is not?”
On one occasion, Obama verbally b*tch-slapped about 40 GOP congresscritters. Romney, on a good day, can deal with another GOP presidential candidate.
MikeJ
@Michael: Here’s a map with today’s polls factored in and ignoring other recent polls in “swing”states that show Obama stomping Mitt.
FL, OH, and PA put Obama at 268.
Violet
Searched “Act Blue Key Congressional Races” and “Act Blue Important Senate Races” and found these links. If you don’t want to donate through those pages, you could still donate through Act Blue or to the candidates directly.
https://secure.actblue.com/page/winthesenate
https://secure.actblue.com/page/2012bl
There’s some duplicates, but it’s a start.
Can someone at BJ PLEASE put together a Congressional Act Blue page?
Michael
@Valdivia: I’ll bet you 10,000 bucks Obama wins the debates…

@J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford: Oh my god. He’s more sure of this than I am. What did Mika mean with that taunting “I’m not gonna mention Gingrich”. That’s the clearest shot I’ve seen of that clip. I don’t know that I’ve seen a major pol be so publicly thin-skinned.
ETA: As Willard is there when he gets jealous of Ryan, I mean.
Michael
@MikeJ: That has Michigan as a toss-up…which is just not the case. I don’t think Romney is even contesting Michigan anymore.

I would like to see an election night featuring Ann Romney doing a reprise of Anne Bancroft’s bit during the final scene of The Graduate.

@Valdivia: Yes, Romney’s genuineness and policy smarts will win out over a sitting President who beat Hilary Clinton at her own game.
Yep. Sarcasm.

Buried in Nate’s “it’s a horse race” commentary that he puts next to his “it’s over” numbers:
Of course he immediately goes on to speculate about Mitt successfully drawing to an inside straight … because that’s the way you have to think in order for it to be a horse race at this point.
J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford
The only way Obama will lose the debates is if he craps himself right on stage and flings it at the audience. Romney is already backed into a corner by his own talking points. If he says something different than what he was saying on the stump the flip-flopping is the story, not what he actually says. It doesn’t matter what the pundits try to spin, viewers make up their own minds and folks who don’t tune in don’t make their decisions based on a reporting of the debate outcome.
Romney isn’t Rocky fighting Apollo Creed with his right hand, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash his left. If Romney had some secret argument or talking point banked, it would have been spent already. The theme of the convention was a phrase taken out of context. Romney’s response to his 47% video was a 14-year old video of Obama supporting re-distribution, and it didn’t even make it through a news cycle.
Settle the fuck down, O’s got this.
BGinCHI
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: Thanks Jim. Will check on those.
Zerban too (running against Herr Ryan).

There’s senate seats – Testers in trouble in Montana, Carmona in Arizona had him even with Flake, Murphy in Conn is even with Mcmahon, Heidi Heidkamp sp may be off in ND is in a tight race. I don’t know how the Dems are doing in Senate fundraising. TPM has some close NY House races. Maloneys even with her opponent unless its a different Maloney in a different district.WTF?

Ladbrokes shortened the odds yet again. Obama is at 1/5.

Everyone, especially the Obama campaign, should keep the pressure on with constant intelligent and literate questioning of Romney’s many and changing perspectives on issues. Make him have to respond to everything so the fratboy frustration builds in him and his staff. Leave him no time to study (what he should already know) for the Debates. Though I doubt he has the will to study issues he clearly doesn’t care about. Make him self-righteously offended that questions are even being asked of him. His money, and Koch money, can’t keep him from stumbling over words and augment his insufficient comprehension of real and present political issues behind his podium.
But Americans can not take our eyes off the Rovien voter suppression and voter fraud that is cameoflaged by this silly campaign. The President needs the down ballot- the Senate and the House. We need federal Judgeships affirmed in every state if we are to change the course of these republican plans.

@ding dong: Heard that Donnelly is doing pretty well against Mourdock in IN.
Would love to see Lugar’s seat flip. I also predict that Obama has a decent chance of winning that state.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Valdivia: there’s something in the water. I was looking at Time’s Swampland blog a few times yesterday (looking to see if someone not-MSNBC would notice Scott Brown’s contemptible race-baiting*), and all the kidz were snarking about Obama, including some hardcore PUMAism bubbling up from one of them. Jon Stewart seemed genuinely disappointed last night that Romney is so inept Stewart can’t vote his Big Disappointment.

Yep. The lone Congressional seat in Montana is being vacated by Republican Denny Rehberg so he can run for Senate. Polls are all over the place — a recent M-D showed the Teabagging millionaire Republican up by 8, but the DCCC recently upgraded the race as winnable. Kim Gillian needs our help — there’s no real prospect of Obama coattails in Montana this year.

@Violet: @BGinCHI: We could sure use some help for David Gill in IL-13.
For decades we have been stuck with Republican Tim Johnson, who makes my stomach turn whenever I even see a photo of him. It’s been like having no representative in congress at all.
With redistricting, there is a new IL-13 district, that includes Champaign-Urbana, and we have a really great shot at winning. But the republican candidate has been lying his ass off with TV ads, and I’m worried that it’s working. David Gill is an ER doctor who wants to help the poor and our middle class, and they are lying on TV saying he will cut medicare, etc.
David Gill is really strong on reproductive rights and is really standing up for women, among other things.
If any of you belong to MoveOn, please check your email and vote YES today on the question of whether MoveOn should endorse David Gill.

@Matt McIrvin:
I would expect Brown to be better at it, he’s actually experienced success running for national office.
I just don’t think Romney’s heart is in it anymore. When you consider just how awesome Romney thinks he is, only to struggle against the likes of Santorum, Gingrich, Cain and Bachman for the nomination. Then to constantly hear about everything that you (Romney) thought was a good idea, be called colossal failures by everyone* watching, I think is causing him to start pouting, and longing to go back to the environment where he was king of all he surveyed.
Not to mention that he is getting beaten…badly, by a man who’s blah. I think he’s ready to just take his ball a go home…we don’t really appreciate his greatness like we should anyway.
(*) – Saying Romney’s campaign is a disaster, is an actual example of “both sides do it”.

@WaterGirl: Following up on WaterGirl’s comment with a link to the anti-Gill ad in question, which is really fucking appalling:
http://www.nrcc.org/2012/09/24/video-new-nrcc-ad-on-david-gill/
That quote about how Medicare would no longer exist? That was said in the context of what would happen if we had a single-payer system. Medicare wouldn’t exist because it wouldn’t be needed as a separate entity. So they’re portraying a guy who wants single-payer as someone who’s ready to take health care away from seniors. If they had the capacity for it, they should be ashamed of themselves.
That said, they’re doing it because they’re running scared. Gill has a real chance of winning IL-13. So yes, please give us a hand.

During the voter purge, every single county supervisor of elections defied Scott. They may be individually in the bag for local corrupt pols (R or D), but they aren’t going to take orders from Scott. Oh, and they lawyered up, too.
