Lindsay Graham says all anyone needs to know about the modern Republican Party:

“We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term.”

Right. The Republican Party is the party of angry white guys. Even they admit it.

Good to know. Maybe this explains all of those Voter ID laws … ya think?!

ABL looks very fetching, and fun and friendly and cheerful as always.

    Thanks, crabby guy.

The old “christian” fraud needs to get right with Jesus, here at last. Jim and Tammy Bakker’s wreckage is also around Charlotte somewhere, in receivership I think. Romney and Ryan, yeeeeah, that’s the ticket!

  82. 82
    SteveinSC says:

Hey no shit! We can start bombarding MSNBC (electronically, of course) to let Cole and his Hareem on TV to express our views. (Our views? That’s fucking chaos incarnate.) Then we should push (electronically, of course) for them to make short statements at the Convention itself on live TV.

    @askew:

Romney campaign insiders tell Capitol Hill Blue that an intense internal battle raged inside the campaign over Ryan’s history of blatant lies, factual misstatements and exaggerations.

This looks like CYA to me — the lies Ryan told in his speech that finally jolted the corporate media awake were all pretty much repeats of lies Mitt or his campaign had already told. Romney’s got the true CEO gift of blaming someone else for what he’s done himself.

Romney threw himself as Massachusetts’ governor under a bus. It should come as no surprise to aficionados of the Republicans’ Politics of Idiocy that they found another bus under which to throw Ryan. They threw his plan, the centerpiece of his bullshit career, under the first bus they could find

Ryan is the male Sarah Palin.

  87. 87
    Bill E Pilgrim says:

@mamayaga: They’re definitely throwing him overboard to try to salvage something after his convention lies so bombed, but I bet it’s also true that they argued about what a pathological liar he was known to be. The tossing overboard is in admitting that they knew.

@WaterGirl: Oh they’re the same lies that Romney tells, it’s just that Ryan has a way of going so overboard with the lying that even the sleeping news media woke up and took notice.

This is probably what was known to them about his reputation, plus it was probably known that he tended to do it about things like the marathon, that is, stupid little things that don’t gain anything, risk everything, but are the very hallmark of the compulsive liar.

    http://youtu.be/vjDd8y2N-F8

Sucker is over 30 minutes long, and sound and pics way out of sync. But long enough for good detailed rundown of the Obama/Biden speech.

Sounds like Biden has been studying the record of these Romney and Ryan duded.

I see on Yahoo news that GOP is trying to fun down Biden and puff up Ryan. Will be an interesting veep debate.

Can’t find any Obama stump speeches, so HS grad speech for now.

Edit: Listening to a few minutes for a break from Biden. Uh, Oh, Obama is doing some heavy plugging of public school, importance of rabble rousing and those damn kids making noise. Commie! And now pandering to that special interest group, women.

Cover art using the style and tropes of totalitarian art to depict Romney and Ryan as a pair of fascists. The reason the pose and style are so reminiscent of Stalinist agitprop is that it is actually a Stalinist poster with faces changed to protect the innocent.

“Unsubtle”, you might say, but the *really* amusing part is that it’s for the cover of NR.

Hmm. I get what you’re saying in general, but since it’s already an established running joke on this trip that Cole covers his face every time ABL tries to take a photo of him, I think it’s pretty clear that’s why the guys are both covering their faces.

I can see that this would look pretty bad out that context, though.

Can’r sleep but this made me laugh. Now even musicians’ 81-year old mothers are yelling at R/R for using music. Phil Lynott’s mother objects to Mitt Romney using Thin Lizzy’s music

She told the magazine: “As far as I am concerned, Mitt Romney’s opposition to gay marriage and to civil unions for gays makes him anti-gay – which is not something that Philip would have supported. He had some wonderful gay friends, as indeed I do, and they deserve equal treatment in every respect, whether in Ireland or the United States.
    __
“Neither would Philip have supported his policy of taxing the poor and offering tax cuts to the rich, which Paul Ryan is advocating. There is certainly no way that I would want the Lynott name to be associated with any of those ideas.
    __
“There is nothing I can do about it except express my views,” Philomena Lynott added, “but I do want to be clear that I would not want Philip’s music to be used in any way that could hurt a single person, and this is the effect of what happened with Paul Ryan using and abusing my son’s music in that way. A lot of fans and musicians are very angry about it and I can fully understand why.
    . . .
I have a lot of time for Barack Obama, so to hear ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ being appropriated by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in their campaign against him is deeply upsetting.”

Sure that’s believable. And the Romney campaign had no idea that any of the ideas contained in the speech were lies? Yeah, right.
    __
Has Romney EVER taken responsibility for anything in his life?

Weren’t we told that Romney was busy personally overseeing the whole layout of the GOP convention?

And yet he apparently forgot to look over, and give his Mitt-Romney-I’m-the-CEO stamp of approval on, his running mate’s speech?

That sounds typical for Romney; he’s IN CHARGE and don’t you forget it, prole! Unless something goes wrong, at which point he wasn’t anywhere near it and had no idea what was going on.
