Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Not all heroes wear capes.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

This blog goes to 11…

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

This really is a full service blog.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

How do you get liars to care about the truth?

Naturally gregarious and alpha

Something seems odd about that, but i have been drinking.

Fuck if i know. i just get yelled at when i try it.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

You are either for trump or for democracy. Pick one.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

The house always wins.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Consistently wrong since 2002

I really should read my own blog.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Via Paul Constant. Hugh Atkin is an evil genius.

The Chicago Young Republicans, however, are just stupid — they’r not sufficiently self-aware to qualify as evil. But, hey, they’ve found an Ann Coulter for the new generation of right-wing self-abusers!

The GOP Convention theme is “We Built This” … aahhhhhh, yes they did go there.

    One problem:

However, the stadium where the GOP will be announcing “We Built This!” was financed primarily by the government. The Tampa Bay Times Forum arena, which houses the Tampa Bay Lightning, was built in 1996 as the “Ice Palace” with 62% government funds. The total budget for the project was $139 million, of which public money accounted for $86 million and team money accounted for $53 million.

I hadn’t seen this before. Maybe that is true for someone else. It contains beauty.

The next question asked went as follows, “Governor Romney, it is true, is it not that you had four deferments from the Vietnam War… You have said before that you support war and the efforts of US military involvement overseas at all costs, yet you made sure you would never go to war yourself. What makes you think that veterans and those currently serving in the military think that you have their best interests at heart when you yourself weren’t even interested in sacrificing your time, energy, or life for your nation at a time when it seemed most crucial?”
    __
    Romney responded:
    __
“That’s a good question, young man, and I would be happy to answer it. The Vietnam War came at a time in my life when I had other plans. I knew in my heart of hearts that I would one day serve my nation. That I would one day hold an office that would help not only our nation, but also the world. So I did what I could to make sure that I would be around to serve my nation, as well as serving God by teaching very important religious principles to a broader audience overseas. My father did not want me serving, and he convinced me that yes, I was too important to go to Vietnam. I had a greater purpose in life. I wasn’t neglecting my nation, but rather preparing myself for a future of service.”

    @wrb:

The sniveling justification of a craven coward.

He supported his generation’s war, but was too cowardly to actually fight in it. Just fine for others to die in his place.

10,000 painful deaths are not enough for this maggot.

On edit: Looks like Poe’s Law in action.

But the fact of the matter is, he did his best to avoid going to Vietnam, but vocally supported that war, just like the cowardly shitstain Cheney. Also, too, the deserting coward himself.

“Song of Myself” really is the perfect poem for Mitt.

I celebrate myself and sing myself (because I’m not concerned about you people)
And what I assume you shall assume (because if I shared the details about my plans I’d lose)

Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself (no further comment needed)
I am large, I contain multitudes (Mitt version 1994, version 2002, version 2004…)
