I found Depot, or I should say, she found me in the Brooklyn Home Depot in the garden section. Here comes this cute 6 month old pregnant kitten rubbing on my legs….she knew I was a sucker. After finding out that the HD didnt want her or care for her I scooped her up and brought her home.
We have tried everything to integrate her into our family. We have 2 cats and a dog. She doesnt mind the dog… but every chance she got she would go after my 11-year-old cat. I have come to feel she doesn’t like cats and wants to be the only cat. We tried everything!
So she started living with my boyfriend’s mom, who lives upstairs from us. We would visit with her often and I took care of her litter and food. But Joe’s mom took a fall in March and is in a slow decline. She will not be moving back into the building…
Depot, who loves people, is lonely. This breaks my heart. She is a tomboy — LOVES to play, LOVES to be brushed and pet. Not a real lap cat, but would love to sleep with you. She is very funny, talks a lot, and has a great personality — except the cat thing.
She is spayed, all shots, and is in perfect health (except a few extra lbs, she loves food too).
If anyone knows of a home with no other cats, please contact us. As of Aug 1, Joe’s mom’s apt will be rented to someone else, someone who cannot take her.
Looks like Tunch’s long-lost little sister, doesn’t she? If you are interested in Depot, or know someone who might be, contact me at AnneLaurie @ verizon . net (click on my name, to the right) and I’ll put you in touch with Depot’s foster-person.

Looks like my Oliver , who also had problems integrating when we first adopted him. I think it’s a Turkish Van thing; he has to be top cat. He picked on and intimidated every animal in the house, including the dog, until he was the undisputed alpha animal. As long as he remains unchallenged, all is well.
It could be the same thing with Depot; she might just need to be on the top of the pecking order.
Good luck with her, she is a lovely little lady.

She’s gorgeous (and great story!) – good luck!

So hope someone can adopt her – she’s a little beauty. If I didn’t live so far away … if my daughter in law weren’t so terribly allergic to cats … sigh.
Culture of Truth
Isn’t there a rule that all front pagers have at least one feline?

South of Boston is too far away. I can’t travel to Brooklyn anyway. :(

If someone really does want her, even if they’re not in the area, we could probably arrange some sort of transport.

I wish I could take her….she is beautiful. But, already have a cat.

I hope she finds a home. She looks just lovely.

I wonder if the Home Depot would let you put a sign up at or near their store (a lot of stores have a “community board”). I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the employees are sad she’s not hanging around anymore and wouldn’t mind taking her home.

I’ve had great luck with
1. Flyers on Vet’s bulletin boards (use color pics to grab attention). Also around college campuses, where young people are eager to get pets of their own.
2. Craigslist with a great pic and long description.
You probably know all this already, and more.
Sigh.
It really is tough to place an adult cat, but this one looks like a love.

I wish I weren’t allergic.
