Here’s some ’60s garage from the Netherlands. What’s sounding good to you all this week?

Expecting a week of 100+ degrees, starting on Saturday. Kill me now.

Just picked up the 25th anniversary edition of Paul Simon’s Graceland on vinyl. It’ wonderful, of course. Also, the Avett Brothers’ most recent live album. Love it.

Stumbled across this and loved the sound of surf rock crossed with tribal music. Led me to do some reading on the group and on Touareg music and culture in general and it was all quite fascinating.

I love Nuggets II. How about something in a Who cover that’s better than the original?

Fiona Apple’s new album is awesome.
Steeplejack
That whole Nuggets genre is great.
Fever Tree, “San Francisco Girls” (1968). Gets going at 0:45 for the ADHD-afflicted.
And that reminds me of Spirit, “I Got a Line on You.”

@Steve M.:
Good one.

Deirdre Wilson Tabac, “I Can’t Keep from Crying Sometimes.”
I found this on YouTube years ago draped over a long tracking shot from Mikhael Kalatozov’s I Am Cuba (1964). Really weird but really well done. Someone yanked the video, and I was left with only the song.
. . . Ah, this was the clip from the movie. Picture it with the song above instead of the music with it.

Hello? Where is everybody? [Kathryn Jean Lopez voice]

@Cmm:
Ofo and the Black Company, “Allah Wakbarr.” The whole album is good.

@Steeplejack: Good stuff, love the Spirit!

Indie band from Brooklyn, Here We Go Magic.
Caught them at Coachella a couple years ago, and saw them again just last week at the wonderful Crescent Ballroom in downtown Phoenix.
Great show (with a really good local band — Roar — opening).
Here We Go Magic has a new album out, so they did a lot of that (of course) along with some of their earlier stuff, including my (still) favorite song of theirs, “Collector”.
Fun, happy mucic.
Love the Crescent. Anyone who likes what the kids are listening to these days (as I do) and lives in or around Sheriff Joe Arpaio County really should come down to the Crescent to catch some shows. Excellent venue (great vibe, food, and drinks) and live music just about every day.

OK, trying “Collector” link again.

@Cmm:
Cool, enjoyed the music.
I suggest you check out the Tuareg band Tinariwen (means “deserts” in Berber) from Mali, if you haven’t already. Former rebel fighters who put down their rifles and picked up guitars.
Excellent contemporary blues rock with a definite Tuareg twist. Love their stuff.
Marcellus Shale, Public Dick
i like some of their other songs better, but this fits the mood

Great song from one of my favorite compilations. I just loaded this and Children of Nuggets on my Mp3 player. Also a bunch of James Brown: Love Power Peace, Say it Live and Loud, James Brown’s Funky People I & II.
Give the drummer some!
Did 75 miles on the bicycle over the last 3 days too. Down to 192 lbs from a post thyroid cancer surgery peak of 228 lbs.
I feed good!
