Thanks so much, both to John and and all of you, for supporting mistermix’s and my trip to Netroots Nation. I’d like to meet as many BJers attending the conference as possible, so I’ll plan a Meet-Up on Saturday afternoon, once I have a better idea of the schedule.
If anyone wants to meet up before then, I’ll be at the karaoke party at the Dorrance tonight around 10. I don’t know if mistermix can be convinced to come and do his legendary rendition of “Don’t Stop Believing”, but I’ll see what I can do.
I’ll wear my DougJ Netroots nametag and have on jeans and a grey blazer. Stop by and say hello if you’re nearby. The Dorrance is a great place. Hope to see a lot of you soon.
Baud
Don’t let them change you, DougJ.
Soonergrunt
I’d like to see video you doing a live, in-person troll of the inevitable WaPo reporter doing a “Dems in Disarray” or “Both Sides Do It” story that we all KNOW will be done by whatever schmuck they send to pretend to cover the event.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
Well at least this year the NN organizers had enough sense not to put Calamity Fucking Jane Hamsher in a prominent, opening position of the convention to spew the usual purity troll, teabagger-of-the-left crap. Yunno, the timing position where all the Villagers are there, get their “the netroots hates Obama” meme and then leave.
Amir Khalid
Wow. I wore a jeans and a gray blazer today too. We’re practically twins!
Metrosexual Black AbeJ
@Soonergrunt:
That is a great idea. I saw Chris Cillizza there last time I went. He’d go for it.
Best trolling idea for this I’ve heard so far.
I don’t honestly think there’s any point in trolling the real firebaggers. There’s no way I can top Matt Stoller’s “Smoldering Wreckage” routine.
SFAW
1) Is that the current fashion for metrosexual black Lincolnesque personages? Interesting.
2) Make sure you cross-post this info to Sully’s site, I’m sure he’ll want to catch up wit choo.
3) Why would ANYBODY dress this way in Providence? It’s not as if anyone in Providence knows what a blazer is. Although, I guess, better there than in Pawtucket.
Upper West
what, no hunting hat?
sorry I can’t make it. I would have loved to catch the Burkean centrist seminar.
Guess I’ll go down to DC and try to get in on the Brooks, Goldberg, Gregory, Indyk Torah Group: https://twitter.com/CoreyRobin/statuses/209638171317768193

@Upper West: I am only half-Jewish so I don’t feel entirely comfortable commenting on this except to say that it is setting off my Burkean alarm bells. Needs more Oakshotte.

@Metrosexual Black AbeJ:
Jeesh, I just read that epic firebagger piece at naked capitalism. And think I’ll start calling Matt the “Paul Ryan” of the left. Mighty truth teller, pseudo visionary howling at the moon we need mo liberal purity, and no one is listening. Or something.
kdaug
Video, or it didn’t happen.
kdaug
ETA: Video posted here, because I’ve a sneaking suspicion that I’m more svelte and swarthy than most of you laggards.
Prove me wrong.
SatanicPanic
@Stuck in the Funhouse: Would you even call it purity? It strikes me more as deranged dumbassery. But there is a lot of overlap between the two.

Are you going to wear GOS t-shirts there? I mean, there has to be some way of showing BJs natural inclination of drawing attention to them in their own lair.
John PM
I won’t be able to attend; I will definitely attend the next time NN is in Chicago.
Are you and mistermix on any of the panels?

if you change your nickname daily, Sully will never be able to find you.

That made me want to throw up. These assholes projecting their idiocy onto the old testament.

Thanks so much for that, because nothing captures Ian Curtis’s pre-suicide frame of mind like some nasal, affected, girl/woman singing it (with hand waving, to boot) to a samba (or whatever) beat.

If you’re in the mood for good news (and if you believe mainstream economists, which I don’t), here’s a modest little something from the Philadelphia Fed:

Just read the piece and am sorry I gave him a unique web hit. That’ll never happen again.
No shit. I don’t even think Calamity Jane and the Hamshers of the Apocalypse could top that. Very impressive firebaggin’ there. It’s a wonder Markos didn’t sign him up as the keynote speaker.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
Didn’t some keening Hamsherites get booed off the stage at last year’s NN when they started in on Obama’s Betrayal of the Troo Left?
Villago Delenda Est
Jane Hamsher’s alliance with Grover Norquist is the equivalent of Marat teaming up with Louis XVI to keep that Robespierre guy in check.
It’s an unforgivable sin, as far as I am concerned, and demonstrates Jane’s unattractive mercenary qualities.

Remember this post a couple days ago about Krugman debating a couple of British austerity pimps and one of them started bragging about the Estonian miracle? Well, Estonia is doing awesome, if by awesome you mean not quite as shitty as the rest of Europe.
Villago Delenda Est
@drunken hausfrau:
Actually, if Sullivan is smart (ha!) he won’t want to find DougJ.
Because he’ll be trolled to apoplexy and Oakeshot non-succor if he does.
Which would of course be hilarity as far as we’re concerned.
SteveM
Not your current nom de plume? Then how will Andrew Sullivan ever find you?
… oh crap, beaten to the punch on my mediocre joke.

Because I bet I’m not the only who enjoys reveling in the misfortune of rich oil assholes who despoil nature, I thought you’d appreciate this item about a failed Shell Oil party stunt in Seattle last night. Seems a 3-foot-high “oil rig” that was supposed to dispense wine instead malfunctioned and spewed a big mess over all of the party guests.
Hilarity ensued.
EconWatcher
@lacp:
8% unemployment by year end? Yippee.

@EconWatcher: Yeah. Pretty exciting, huh?

Are y’all serious about Sully going to be there? Hardly seems like his sort of milieu.
He’d be sullying himself, haw haw.

If the Supreme Court strikes down all the provisions that result in more people getting health care coverage, we could spend more money on the Pentagon! “Everyone seems to agree, at the 30,000-foot level, it changes the overall debate in a big way,” said a Senate GOP aide.

No way Sully goes near NN. He may send one of his minions under cover but I suspect he’ll really just read DKos like the rest of us.

From the head of the Congressional Budget Office, and clearly off the RNC message reservation.
I think we can expect a close inspection of Mr. Elmendorf’s counter tops. And House wingnut proposals to turn the CBO into an unfunded mandate.

@Stuck in the Funhouse:
On the other hand, we have a Wall Street Journal (!) columnist pointing out the 1.2 million public sector workers laid off since 2008 and noting if those workers hadn’t lost their jobs, unemployment would look more like 7.1 percent.
So …

Speaking of Sully, his take on Wisconsin was typically infuriating, basically that
This is different from what the racist Teanuts have done to Obama. As always, IOKIYAR.

OT, Just had a push-astro-turf concern-troll robo call about the teachers strike in Chicago. Hadn’t really been paying attention but it hit me I’m now in favor of strike entirely on principle I’m so tired of the business and religiously sanctified greed and fainting fits over anyone but bankers paychecks. Carry on.

the GOP committed ECONOMIC TREASON against this country and continues to do so. it does not benefit them -POLITICALLY – if the economy recovers.

On a serious note, the cuts in state employment is what’s really keeping the economy down.
