And now I carbo-load for the half-marathon tomorrow.
Our Lady of Simple Starches, pray for me.

1. Tacos can be healthy, make fish tacos with pan seared fish
or grilled flank steak and leave out the sour cream and use feta cheese or quesa fresca in moderate amounts
2. Don’t call yourself fat.
3. Give Tunch some fish and give us photos of his Tunchness.
MikeJ
You can make tacos and continue to eat healthy. There’s nothing inherently unhealthy about tacos.

Evening.
Anyone know of some good sites to go to for “reasonably” priced last minute plane tickets??? Other than Priceline?
schrodinger's cat
@TooManyJens: Anom!
I had a healthy and delicious meal this afternoon, basmati rice with dal. Pan seared shrimp and a spinach salad with grape tomatoes and avocado, and no dressing.
I have just started my spring time running, but the pollen in the air is killing me with allergies.

Ann Coulter’s skeletal face at the top of the page has caused me to lose my appetite.

Let us call you fat instead.

Are you losing weight?

I’m beginning to think that part of the Obama campaign strategy to keep pressing on Romney many statements. I know that the MSM are aware of the strategy turn, but I think another aspect of the strategy is to be so precise in their attacks and leaving no “real” room for R-Money and the R-Money millionaires campaign to maneuever. I think it works. Using Romney’s exact quotes to ring his neck is very effective, because unlike R-Money’s campaigns’ decision to distort and out right lie about what Obama actually said/says, the Obama campaign can point out that R-Money campaign is lying and that Obama did not say that. Can R-Money’s campaign really say the same about their client with all the evidence including video, articles, recording, etc that are available. I think they’ll try, but with ALL the gaffes and downright stupid statements from their candidate I just don’t think they will be able to keep up unless Obama, Biden, Axelrod and Ploufe and ‘nem have unforced errors.
Citizens United is the only saving grace R-Money has to even the playing field.
I think that even though the media would do it’s uptmost best to let Romney get away from all the crazy extreme RW BS he spewed due to the primary, but the campaign is so far making it REALLY hard for legitimate MSM to do so by using Romney own words (in the case of Joe Biden on foreign policy) and in the own words of the Romney surrogates.
Case in point: Case in point:
Obama on Ledbetter Act: I Won’t Have To ‘Get Back To You’
Speaking of the Joe Biden speech as an example, it was so effective, even Mark “da dick” Halperin couldn’t fix his mouth to make this one “good for Romney”. Which means something since “da dick’s” lips are firmly plastered on R-Money’s ass.
lamh35
Speaking of media trying to be Romney’ press secretaries, I glad to see people dumping on the Buzzfeed article trying to say Obama also didn’t think getting OBL was a priority.
I’m not gonna link cause I refuse to give Buzzfeed the satisfaction.

Ha ha. Enjoy. I am on a very low cal diet and working out like a mad woman because I have a trip to Italy in 2 weeks and I have pretty clothes to fit into. I will make up the eating while there ;)
David Koch
@cathyx:
yes, but he keeps finding it.

Heh, great minds think alike, but I think I’m going with Steve Raichlen’s Trinidadian grilled swordfish with Caribbean mango salsa and bakes
Mnemosyne
This would be your splurge meal, John — enjoy it! One of the better “diets” I ever saw was the 90/10 Plan, where if you eat right 90 percent of the time, you can have the treats you enjoy without having to stress about it. “Flexible restraint” is a similar concept.
I’m in a weight loss dilemma right now because I gained a little weight on the scale, but I lost an inch from my waist. WTF? I know it’s normal after increasing your activity (I biked to work three days both last week and this week) but it’s still annoying as fuck.
Valdivia
@David Koch:
witty. that.
schrodinger's cat
@Valdivia: I has a jealous! Have fun.

@lamh35: The media can try to make believe that Romney is a centrist all it wants, but unless they gag every one his campaign spokespeople, they won’t succeed. Here is the supposedly smooth Haley Barbour walking into a hornet’s nest by complaining that Jews are bigoted for objecting to the posthumous Mormon baptisms of holocaust victims http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/04/27/1086940/-Romney-ally-Elie-Wiesel-s-campaign-against-posthumous-conversion-is-a-bigoted-Democratic-plot
Mnemosyne
@Valdivia:
Nice! And between all of the walking you’ll be doing and the European portion sizes, you’ll probably still fit into those clothes when you get back — double bonus!

I am in the process of giving up sugar and protein as much as possible. IT SUCKS!

@beltane: I get that all religions have some crazy stuff in it, but is it me or does the Mormon stuff even more crazy than your average religious craziness

Those of you who live in red states that have individual health insurance policies are getting the most money back from Obamacare rebates.

I’ve been juicing and going vegetarian for the past month, determined to lose 15 pounds. Then last night me and my bf polished off two pints of ice cream. You gotta live a little!

the mexican roachcoaches that i encounter as a truck driver have molded my interpretation of what a taco is to a rather specific thing.
1. 2 corn tortillas
2. some kinda meat.
3. cilantro with onion and tomato.
4. lime wedges
5. roasted jalapeno peppers.
salsa optional

@Mnemosyne: You are getting more toned with the biking, don’t worry about the weight gain if it is less than a pound. I have gained some weight over the winter, I have a cute pair of skinny jeans that I am trying to fit into, that is what is motivating me right now to eat healthy besides the other obvious benefits.
General Stuck
@yopd1:
“Obamacare rebates”? not hardly. Those are gifts from white baby jeevus
beltane
@schrodinger’s cat: I’m not sure if Mormonism is crazier than other religions, but it does have a certain creepy, 19th century American, P.T. Barnum snake-oil and bearded lady freakishness about it that I find off-putting. It’s much better when religions cloak their craziness behind sublimely beautiful music and the shadows cast by lit candles.
lamh35
Anyone seen the video of R-Money giving a speech in front of a college audience? The compare and contrast to POTUS in front of a college audience is brutal.
yopd1
@General Stuck: Sorry, I’m Jewish and live in California, so didn’t know and not getting anything.

John, your friend’s book cracked the NYT Hardcover extended list @ #33.
I am guessing he already knows this, but thought I would mention it here.

WOOOOO! ARE YOU READY FOR SOMEzzzzzzzzzzz

Make sure you double exercise John, because when I get a free weekend, we are going here.
Going to the NASCAR race tomorrow, god bless me.

@Mnemosyne: Muscle is heavier than fat. Of course I’ve been known to use that line to excuse-slash-deny my own weight gain many, many times.

Has anyone else seen RMoney’s quote today “if you can’t afford college borrow the money from your parents”.
WTF?

Is there a cheap or free program that is easy to use that lets you edit video files. I have some exercise videos and I want to make my own mix by putting together different routines from several different the exercise videos.
schrodinger's cat
@Litlebritdifrnt: Wow, does he think everyone has
richie rich, I mean successful parents, like he did?lamh35
@Litlebritdifrnt:
This dude really doesn’t understand that the majority of American CAN’T borrow money from their parents for college. For middle class and poorer students…COLLEGE IS EXPENSIVE!!!!
JPL
@lamh35: NO…do you have a link?
FlipYrWhig
@schrodinger’s cat: At least he didn’t suggest simply selling your stock holdings whenever you’re short on cash, and cutting down on the entertaining, the way he and Ann did when they had it “hard” in college.

There are exceptions if you run for the GOP POTUS election and get

@Litlebritdifrnt: Does he realize that normal people don’t have parents who can afford to lend money like a bank does? Does Mitt Romney even know any normal people?
lamh35
@JPL: Here’s the video mash up of Romney vs Obama
http://youtu.be/0xDEdaGA0Gc
I’m telling ya, just awful IMHO. The full video is even more ZZZZZZZZzzzz inducing. The poor kid over Romney’s right shoulder was trying his damndest to stay awake…
Maybe they told the students NOT to applaude cause this is a “serious” speech?????

Starting a two week supervised liver detox diet on Monday. Fruits and vegetables for six days, then a little protein and a little grain for five days, and then gradually introduce legumes, a little fish and a little starch for the last three days. The only thing I’m dreading is no wine or salt, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

@lamh35: I saw a snip of Romney in front of a bunch of GIs. They looked kinda wooden, too. Wonder if he got the usual Republican reception from GI’s or if standard sentiment has changed.
beltane
@FlipYrWhig: And of course every parent of a college age child has a spare $100,000-$200,000 lying around that can be loaned to pay for tuition.
If you don’t have the money to give to your kids, you don’t have the money to lend to your kids. Mitt Romney lives in a fairy-tale land. From now on out I’m referring to him as Prince Charmless.

But if you’ve been eating well and exercising all week, perhaps your face is no longer “fat.”

@beltane: The contemporary Republican party has gotten to a point where they don’t believe in basic aspects of modern commercial society like insurance and credit/debt. I imagine them saying, “Hey, MY attic didn’t burn, it’s not fair that my subscription fees go to pay off the loser whose did!” and “Hey, there’s no reason some STRANGER should get to use MY savings to start a business!” They’re the gold-in-a-casket party.
ETA: LOL at Prince Charmless.

@lamh35: Romney is so out of touch in that video it’s sad. The President should mention Greece who bought votes by cutting taxes. Greece is the Romney plan. Thank you for the link.
edit..but ann is so sick she has to ride horses, so let us not forget that .
Mnemosyne
@yopd1:
Teh Google tells me that it may be a timing issue and you should be thinking more in terms of “only have protein several hours after medication” than cutting it out. Cutting out a macronutrient is a very bad idea:
http://parkinsons.about.com/od/treatmentoptions/a/protein_and_Medications.htm
@schrodinger’s cat:
The problem is that I need to be at a specific weight to keep my one-day-a-week job with Weight Watchers and I was already slightly over that limit.
It will eventually work itself out (if I stop eating three cookies a day, that is!) but it’s definitely annoying since I have the extra pressure of having to maintain a particular weight for work.
(I just have to stay at a BMI of 25 or below for WW, so it’s not like they’re dictating that I stay under 100 pounds or something like that.)

Beer and tacos for me too!

what’s wrong with tacos? Pretty much every Sunday night here. Embarrassed that I have a tortilla press/cooker, but buy shells, otherwise what’s the problem? beans/burger, tomato, lettuce, cheese? It’s not like it’s beef wellington or something. Or foie fucking gras.
Craig
Alas, I weigh in for the week on Saturday morning…
…but then again, I had leftover Coq au Vin for dinner. I find that portion control is my downfall; I do well making a pot of something fantastic, then freezing individual portions for weekdays.
Lojasmo
AsiangrrrlMN probably already posted this, but the MN republican party is being evicted from their office for being NNE MONTHS behind on the rent.

Open thread, so I figure it’s appropriate to say “WTF” at the 2nd round Steelers pick. I wish pot didn’t matter, but it does. How the hell do you show up at the combine and test positive for pot? Hope he shapes up.

@Craig: That works for me, too. I wish we had more freezer space. I wonder if the condo association would get after us if we bought one of those small freezers and left it out on the landing.
And Beltane, HA! at Prince Charmless.
ETA: the literalist brigade has been marching here lately, so I’ll go ahead and explain that the freezer on the landing is a joke.
asiangrrlMN
@Mnemosyne: Muscle takes up less space than fat, yadda yadda yadda. Really, inches are a better way of measuring than pounds.
