Have you been a good boy this year? Otherwise forget it.
schrodinger's cat
How bout a Tunch photo, with him wearing some of the taxi colored Steeler gear.
srv
Boring.
This I like. Implicated in Bee Colony collapse, what does Monsanto do? Buy the company researching the problem.

The ugliest uniform I have ever seen. Buzz Buzz
Sal
I have no idea what that means John.

Green Bay needs some of those D linemen too. Don’t bogart.

OT..I only have an antenna so not sure this is cable news but all I can say from the network news is poor Ann Romney and her struggles. Did they mention that if it were that difficult than wtf is her husband running?
has she even tried to raise money for ms…

All the local sports radio talk shows are talking up Donta Hightower for the Steelers. I don’t pay any attention to college sports so I just heard about him this week, but the way the talking heads yammer on about him you’d think he’s the second coming of Levon Kirkland.
Zifnab
Quarterbacks and runningbacks. My Texans need, like, a rooster sixteen men deep of backup QBs and RBs. That should hold us through next season.
General Stuck
I am all for cleaning up our discourse from words with derogatory meaning for mental illness. But I am stumped by proposing legislation to remove the word “lunatic” from all past legislation and the general vernacular of government.
What does this even mean? And why can’t I call republicans lunatics? As I don’t associate that word with mental illness, but rather very strange, mean and crazy people who do very strange mean and crazy things. But are not mentally ill within the normal parameters of mental illness. Unless you want to call everyone in the GOP mentally ill. I don’t think that is accurate. I think “lunatics” is accurate. or, “Fucking lunatic Idiots” or “insane lunatic idiots” I smell a shithouse rat redacting pages of Readers Digest.
Martin
Too bad Tebow doesn’t have a more proselytizing little brother we could pray for the Steelers to draft, because I think I speak for everyone here that would be the most entertaining outcome for all of us.
Omnes Omnibus
@Martin: The Jets could trade Tim for Ben.
tulip
Luck or Griffin? I wonder who goes first. Also too, who will have the better career?
I’m going with the local boy… Luck first to the Colts and Luck with the better career.
It’s hard to believe with how much da Rayderz suck, they only have like 3 picks for the whole draft.
shortstop
Since this is an open thread, I’d like to whine about the steep California minimum franchise tax for my foreign S-corp. Who’s with me?!
John Cole
@Skerry: It looks like they crossed a bumblebee with an old timey prison uniform. It’s atrocious.
Cassidy
Awright Cowboys, we need….shit just pick something.

ESPN’s coverage: three white guys talking about a draft of predominately black athletes.

@srv: Won’t be long now before new research implicates excessive environmental regulations in CCD
Villago Delenda Est
The real draft news today is that Paul Ryan made his bid to get drafted to the veep spot in the doomed GOP ticket for the fall.
Just Some Fuckhead
@John Cole:
That should feel pretty comfortable for the Steelers.
Villago Delenda Est
@Martin:
Yes, that would be remarkably entertaining.
FSM doesn’t love us enough for that scenario to come true, of course.
Suffern ACE
@John Cole: Yeah, but in 1934, it was the bees knees.
When did we get so boring and uptight? Its like there is this whole B&W period in history that was more colorful than the 1970s. Once we invented synthetic dyes, we wanted them everywhere.

California has chosen not to incorporate Federal law regarding Scorporations into its state tax law, a choice that it gets to make. If you don’t want to pay tax to California, you can arrange your affairs so that you don’t earn any income From sources in California.
I’m a Californian. Don’t expect any sympathy from me on this subject.
cathyx
@Skerry: I hope the Steelers use those in a real game. The other team will be laughing so hard that the Steelers would have no problem scoring.
trollhattan
@shortstop:
You need to upgrade to one of them newfangled T corporations. Problem solved!
burnspbesq
If the Vikings are dumb enough to not take a future Hall of Fame left tackle with the third pick, they deserve whatever injuries befall their quarterbacks that are attributable to blind-side hits for the next 12 years.

fasteddie9318
Is there a sporting event that is hyped more, yet delivers less entertainment, than the NFL Draft?
trollhattan
@cathyx:
“Excited” is such a versatile word.
Heck, I’m excited.
Martin
@fasteddie9318: Kentucky Derby is right up there.
trollhattan
@fasteddie9318:
The NBA draft lottery comes to mind. Also, too, the MLB draft (what, they have one?!).
Martin
@Villago Delenda Est: I would add that Sarah Palin be added to the commentary team for all Steelers games. Sportscaster was on her to-do list at one point.
shortstop
@burnspbesq: Having seen so many of your offerings here, I wouldn’t expect sympathy any more than I would expect, say, professional competence, reading comprehension, conversational skill or verbal cohesion from you, Frank. There are in fact more people in the world, and even on this blog, than you–and that big yellow orb in the sky? You go around it, not the other way around.
@trollhattan: Are those the ones with the automatic starters instead of the hand cranks? I think I saw them in SkyMall!
The Sailor
What the Steelers need to do is pick more dog killers. It’s worked very well for them.
trollhattan
@shortstop:
Bingo. Skip the optional neoprene protective sleeves, though. They get caught in the muffler bearings–trust me on this one.
Also, too, John Chiang would like your quarterly, pronto.

@Martin: She’s already done it, hasn’t she, for some local channel in Alaska?

Alonzo Dennard may be available . . . in a few years.
Chuck Butcher
I suppose I could go into what Cleveland needs, but that would take a lot of space and time…
Villago Delenda Est
@Martin:
Oh, geeze, just take that knife and twist it…
shortstop
@trollhattan: He’s got it, and I have to admit he writes really graceful thank-you notes.
Martin
@Villago Delenda Est: Come on! The drunk Cole posts would be epic.
Martin
@srv: At least Monsanto is holding true to their core corporate beliefs – dickery.
burnspbesq
@shortstop:
“professional competence, reading comprehension, conversational skill or verbal cohesion”
The next time you exhibit any ability to identify any of those things will be the first.
Seriously, just leave me the fuck alone. I have no desire to deal with your shit any further.

Gruden: the Vikings really need a defensive back.
Minnesota takes O-Lineman Kalil.
Gruden: well they really had no other choice.
trollhattan
@shortstop:
We all thank you. Some of just have lesser manners, and no stamps.
Villago Delenda Est
@Martin:
No doubt in a sort of Marquis de Sade schadenfreude sort of way.
The howling would wake the kids on the other side of the Mississippi…
shortstop
@burnspbesq: “Just leave me alone?” Old boy, you initiated the exchange by pompously responding to a comment that wasn’t directed at you to begin with…but self-restraint is another one of your non-strong points.
@trollhattan: Well, that’s the thing! I figured for my large cash outlay I’d get an actual note in an envelope, but he only sent a postcard, the cheap bastard. Gorgeous handwriting, though. Anyway, you’re most welcome.
Davebo
In more historic draft news Ryan Leaf could face fifty years in a Texas prison

Here’s hoping the Patriots do the same. My guess is Belichick will take a tight end just to fuck with all of us (in New England).

I like that Spielman stole 3 picks from the Browns and we still got Kalil. Now the Vikes can use all those picks to target players to move up for.
Bnut
Roll Tide. That is all.
Arm The Homeless
So, the Phins took Tannehill, does this mean that he will end up being a complete loser of a first round pick? Well, who has made anything of themselves after being drafted in the first by the Dolphins, at least since Marino?
Oh, well, I hope he enjoys the weather and the women.
Sloncha!
trollhattan
Seahawks trade down to 15 with Philly to pick up 4th and 6th round picks. Guess whoever they targeted is still available…?
Rafer Janders
@burnspbesq:
Um,didn’t you respond to her first? And now you’re whining that she answered you?
I’m a New Yorker. Don’t expect any sympathy from me when the little girl that you thought was going to be a push-over hits you back.
Arm The Homeless
@trollhattan: Zach Miller?
I think that guy could be a beast, but then again, you guys need so much more than just a TE.
…Dolphins Phan… Why yes, I am drinking :)
Mr Stagger Lee
I’ll be glad when this masturbation is over, the sports radio in Seattle has been unbearable. Dear God can we have more Mariner games in the daytime?

This is pretty cute. Pixar did a trailer for their upcoming movie Brave, referencing the NFL draft.

Early money was on Chandler Jones and he’s slid down the list. Could have been a shrewd trade.

TBogg from Twitter: 45 minutes into the draft and Kim Kardashian has already had sex with five of the first round picks.
Made me spit my drink
Arm The Homeless
@trollhatten
Seahawks and injuries don’t go together. I would be surprised if they actually go after him, despite the need for a good lineman.
HERE WE GO! Bruce Irvin!? Really? I think John owes you a beer after that one. That guy is too damn small!
trollhattan
Bruce Irvin?! Wha? Did not see that one coming.
Heliopause
Holy shit, the Seahawks drafted Rufus Porter, except with a criminal record.
Mr Stagger Lee
@Arm The Homeless: I’m confused Mel Kiper is trashing the Seahawks pick, so maybe he is good, but the local guys are knobslobberinbg over it, well we will see.
trollhattan
@Mr Stagger Lee:
After the Aaron Curry experiment I’m doubly hinky about drafting a projected round 2 linebacker in the first round. They want a pass rusher, but at #15?
David Koch
@Skerry:
more racism from FDL. what a surprise. next TBogg will put Kardashian in blackface.

OK,the Browns got their running back. Steelers better watch out now, John.
General Stuck
Good time to once again predict a Super Bowl ring for the Browns. So I can feel good about the season months before it begins without them sucking once the season begins. You got to think ahead, or in this case, think behind.
Mr Stagger Lee
I like that choice of the Browns, I think Colt McCoy is damaged goods.
the Conster
Am I the only one who thinks Robert Griffin looks just like Andre 3000?
Ron
You wanted a lineman, we got a lineman, and from the looks of things, a damn good one.
S. cerevisiae
John’s Steelers just got a great guard in DeCastro.

@Rafer Janders:

Villago Delenda Est
@Heliopause:
Ol’ Roof was a fan favorite back in the early 90’s, when, I’m afraid to say, the Seahawks got into the serious suck mode under the ownership of that dumbshit California developer.
Rafer Janders
@burnspbesq:
Ahahahahaha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Oh god. Thanks. I really needed that. That was just precious.
Seriously, though, are you OK? The profanity, the hysterical over-reactions, the sudden and sad little Internet tough guy routine (why, you oughta!), etc. I’m all for mocking you whenever given the chance, but I’d hate to pick on you when you’re down, and you seem kind of unstable lately.
Ken
@Mr Stagger Lee: .. And the Browns grabbed Brandon Weedon. You may be right about McCoy.
