I just watched an abysmal episode of The Daily Show. There was literally nothing funny about it.
Punchy
Cant figgy if the record set was # of goals, or # of penalty minutes by Philly (64). What a crazy-ass game.
katie5
What matters is that the Sens won.

Buddha knows how much I hate the Flyers. I’m a proud hater and they’re on my list, which happens to be a mile long.
fubar
Bout time, I was beginning to despair. A Philly sweep would make them unbearable. Now if the Sen’s beat the Rangers (you never know) I would be truly happy – just to see Tort’s head explode

Obama to wingnuts
I’ll have what he’s having.

Totally OT, but I’m so excited and I need to tell someone: I just found out I passed the first of these brutal exams.
I’m so relieved I could vomit.
Only six more to go!

Speaking of blowouts, when is the Breitbart autopsy report gonna drop? I’m still waiting to ship out the Nose Candy Andy shirts.

WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS OF ANDREW BREITBART’S DRUGGED UP CORPSE.
LT
Jesus – what is up with this series? Ten fucking goals by the Pens? This is playoff hockey, dammit.
LT
@suzanne: Congrats, Suzanne. Is the first supposed to be the most difficult?
AA+ Bonds
From the author of Going Postal, your must-read article on Sgt. Bales and the Kandahar massacre

@LT: THANK YOU! You can take them in any order. I started with Building Systems, which is considered one of the two most difficult, yes.
I was absolutely convinced that I failed when I walked out of that. That was BRUTAL. Like, I am good at tests. I was hung over when I took my SATs and I still scored almost a 1500. But that test was so unbelievably shitty.

@fubar:
I can’t stand that guy, yuck. I thought he was an ass when he was in Tampa.
Spaghetti Lee
Well, I don’t know much about hockey, but I did see that the Phillies beat the Pirates 10-3. Must have been a lot of home runs in-wait, what?

@Hill Dweller:
Colbert >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stewart
I don’t know if it’s the comfort of wealth or his desperate need for approval from the Broders, but he really lost it. He doesn’t have 1 percent of the courage and edge of Colbert.
I mean, can you imagine stewart ripping into Bush, right to his face, the way Colbert did at the WH correspondence dinner. No. He would be sucking up to the media, desperately trying to get Richard Cohen’s and David Gregory’s approval.

@LT:
The blowout is a long-standing part of playoff hockey, damnit. Pull the goalie, avoid injuries and suspensions, come back tomorrow. (It was 4-3 Pens after the first period; Bryzgalov was pulled at 5-3.) Though ten goals is a fairly extreme case of getting all your series scoring done when it doesn’t really matter.
Marcellus Shale, Public Dick
the second period was amazing, if the pens can make it a close series, it will be one of the best in recent memory.
LT
@pseudonymous in nc: Well, longstanding, but that doesn’t mean scores like 10-3 are common. Maybe I’m just misremembering, though.

In baseball, Bartolo Colón of the A’s managed to throw 38 strikes in a row against the Angels tonight. There’s no official record for such a thing, but it’s still pretty much unheard of.
Spaghetti Lee
@The prophet Nostradumbass:
Holy shit.
In a different kind of baseball ‘holy shit’, Adam Dunn struck out for the 19th time this season, putting on track for somewhere near 290 for the season. But no, this White Sox fan isn’t bitter at all.
The prophet Nostradumbass
@Spaghetti Lee: Yoenis Cespedes has struck out 17 times, through tonight’s game, as well. Mind you, he has hit 4 home runs and driven in 12.
Spaghetti Lee
@The prophet Nostradumbass:
I’ll cut that guy some slack-he needs some adjustment time for MLB pitching. Dunn is just a bum.

@suzanne:
Outstanding! Now go kick ass on the rest of them.

The Flyers should know better than anyone that a 3-0 series lead means jack. The were down 3-0 in the series, then 3-0 in Game 7, 2 years ago before ultimately beating the Bruins.

I couldn’t watch it. Those fuckers at Comcast blacked out the NBC Sports broadcast locally if you don’t have Comcast. (Which I don’t)

@AA+ Bonds: And I thought this was going to be from Terry Pratchett

I had the Los Angeles sports fan trifecta last night. Dodgers lose on a play at the plate that was one of the worst calls in recent memory, Angels lose inexplicably to a 72 year old pitcher, and the Kings can’t close out the series with Vancouver on their home ice. The Kings could very well lose this series. There’s a reason the Canucks are a number one seed, and the Kings number eight. The Flyer-Pens game was ridiculous. The Flyer goalies displayed all the quickness of traffic cones……
Chet
@Spaghetti Lee: Funnily enough, the actual Phillies lost an 11-inning game vs. the Giants last night by a hockey score (1-0).
lorimakesquilts
It could only have been better if they both could lose.
