How did David Gregory not make the list?
trollhattan
Aw, schweet! (I confess I never heard of #5 Katie Roiphe.)
Hey, look at who Breitbart’s been stealing from.
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/12/breitbarts-big-journalism-was-using-nazi-image.html
r€nato
I’ve never seen a pic of Erick Erickson. Why am I not surprised that he’s got two chins and no neck? Just another hyperovercompensating wrong-wing hatemonger.
geg6
Delicious stuff. I love that Halperin is #1, but I love even more his piece on Katie Roiphe. I hate that woman with a white hot hate and he just slays her.
OT, but I have been inspired by the death of Christopher Hitchins to order four of his books from the university library. Two I had already read (God Is Not Great and Letters to a Young Contrarian) and two I have not but look forward to (Thomas Paine’s Rights of Man: A Biography and Thomas Jefferson: Author of America). To think we will not have any more of that wonderful prose!
Downpuppy
Megan McArdle missed again?!
Recount!
The Moar You Know
A great list of those who need to be first up against the wall when the revolution comes.
r€nato
@The Moar You Know: that’s a little extreme. I’d be content with just having them assigned to minimum wage jobs in flyover America.
You know, the kind of job where you get to learn what life for average Americans is *really* about… and with the added bonus that if you try to express your opinion about anything, you get told to STFU and keep the fries coming.
13th Generation
What is it with these female rape denier types? As a male, I totally don’t get the mindset at all.
Snowball
This is great news for John McCain!
Roger Moore
@r€nato:
FTFY.
carpeduum
Meh…..I say the professional left deserves the award simply because their method of trying to undermine the left and prop up the right is less obvious and not always intentional. It’s so hard to pick just one though. From Greenwald to Hamsher, Cenk, Olberman, Moore and of course the queen bee Arrianna Fluffington. It’s a very fertile field of dangerously stupid/subversive.
Rusty
The entire staff of Atlantic was overlooked. There’s at least 2 or 3 over there that could have made the list. I guess Atlantic is now too much of a boutique and obscure media outlet to make big time lists.
BGinCHI
I hope Bobo and Chunky Bobo tie so that their pictures can be fused together in stupitude.
r€nato
@Roger Moore: thank you, that was needed.
ChrisNYC
Wow, that is one unflattering picture of E. Erickson.
r€nato
@13th Generation: oh, you find these types in every crowd.
Clarence “Uncle Tom” Thomas.
Log Cabin Republicans.
Self-loathing types who hope that if they suck up to Daddy enough, he will finally love them and stop beating them OR they simply see that there’s profit and power to be had by betraying one’s brothers and sisters.
Darius
Halperin richly deserves that title. Just today, he’s rushing to Romney’s defense (over the Medicaid gaffe) like the loyal little lickspittle he is.
JGabriel
@Downpuppy:
Seconded!
.
Villago Delenda Est
@r€nato:
You’re assuming any of them have the native intelligence or cunning to learn anything from that experience.
That may not be a good assumption.
JGabriel
@ChrisNYC:
Honestly, they’re all unflattering. It’s his inner being coming to the surface like that Dorian Gray painting, but without the painting.
I did, however, like Pareene’s sub-title for Erickson’s entry:
.
JGabriel
@r€nato:
It’s a Douglas Adams reference, from The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, IIRC.
.
Hill Dweller
@Darius:
The Romney campaign’s clarification is hilarious. They essentially say he was lying.

Speaking of HACKS, why is Dylan Ratigan fluffing my new Democrat I Hate The Most In The Whole Universe, Ron Wyden? Fuck these fuckers. AAARRRGGGGHHHH.
dance around in your bones
@r€nato: I have seen him bloviating on CNN from time to time. He looks like a stuffed pink sausage, and he pretends to be so reasonable. Gack.
a hip hop artist from Idaho (fka Bella Q)
@geg6: Katie Roiphe deserves to be higher, and I love that some many people are asking, “Katie Who?”
burnspbesq
Yawn. Salon gets an attaboy for giving Greenwald a place to be, but nothing else there is remotely worth my attention.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
The fact that Wolfie made the list doesn’t surprise me. Obviously his track record speaks for itself but I go back with him, kinda, to his days as CNN’s Pentagon correspondent.
Didn’t know him personally but I worked with a bunch of guys on the DoD side (back during my intel officer days) who did. Routinely they respected most of the press corps assigned there. The one notable exception was Wolfie. Dim bulb is putting it kindly.
It’s no wonder he’s advanced in his profession.
PeakVT
@Downpuppy: Filling out a hack list these days is like filling the proverbial five-pound bag: some of the crap isn’t going to fit.
Argive
Bobo is much, much too low on this list. It’s nice to see Erick Son Of Erick at #6, but I would have figured him to be in the top 5 at least.
Valdivia
Have you guys seen a picture of #2 Jennifer Rubin? The said person who wrote an article, I am pretty sure, saying jewish women hated Palin because she was hot and sexy and most jewish women couldn’t be that. I mean, after seeing that I am now speechless and convinced projection is all these people have!
Darius
nm
Rhoda
I have to believe the professionals keep Halperin around to laugh at him; from “This is good for John McCain” to today’s “Seriously Democrats, this is not what the election should be about.” (Bolded in the original, because the asshole must EMPHASIZE how seriously stupid this clearly craven and political this attack is; as opposed to Romney constantly calling Obama a failure as a President.
I hate that son of a bitch.
JGabriel
@Valdivia:
I’m surprised Rubin finished that high. Yes, she certainly belongs on the list, but her hate is so one-note that it seems overkill to put her in the top 5.
.
JGabriel
@Hill Dweller:
Pareene too hung over on Sunday mornings to ever catch Gregory on air?
.
MattF
I guess that Mr. Kristol has retired from the media.
jl
Thanks. The list is worth skimming to collect further high crimes and misdemeanors of some of these people.
But some one needs to get an electronic replacement for paper, cause reading this stuff just works better when printed on paper. I can’t sit around in the evening, rustle the paper and say, ‘I see old man Will was ratted out on a conflict of interest again…”
jl
@MattF: Kristol, along with Will, and others, have been retired to the Pareene’s Hack Hall of Fame.
Marc
@13th Generation:
I don’t get the idea that people who disagree on, say, the Assange accusations or the DSK accusations are the worlds worst monsters. This list read as is it was animated by grudges in a couple of high profile cases. Wolf has written some wrong-headed things (do you remember the military coup?), but she’s on this list because she disputed the rape charges against Assange in the Wikileaks case. It’s bizarre logic that made me a lot less interested in the concept (and author of the list.)
Valdivia
@JGabriel:
I find her over the top stuff on Israel and constant fluffing of Mitt and loathing of Obama totally deserving but yeah, maybe not #2, top 10 though since she gets lots of links.
Hill Dweller
@SIA:
I had never seen Ratigan’s show until stumbling upon while looking for an update during the recent VT shootings. His guest was Sen. Coburn, who he called ‘a friend of the show’. I swore never to watch it again.
Litlebritdifrnt
@JGabriel:
Nah it is from a 70s British Sit Com about a lone revolutionary and I can’t remember the damn name of it now or the guy who starred in it. Hah Robert Lyndsay! (furiously searches IMDB) Citizen Smith!
jl
@Marc: I agree. Some of the libs on the list smack of tokenism. He had to cast around for some to include, and the criteria were a little inconsistent.
Should there be sidekicks on the list?
Morning Joe’s side kick seems like a hack.
And after hearing, and clearly identifying the Caddell and Schoen (sp?) duo during the Fox GOP debate, I think Caddell’s sidekick should be on some list. The most charitable thing I can think to say about their bloviating was that they sounded like they were drunk.
Edit: anyway, bottom line is that I think there must be more well rounded liberal hacks out there.
pragmatism
@Downpuppy: agreed. last night i was making a bechamel-mornay sauce for lasagna and realized that its going to be a while before whisking doesn’t remind me of that empathy chip-less hack.
if a thermomix existed that was large enough for her to stick her head in, i’d suggest that she do that and set it to pulverize/boil.
SIA
@Hill Dweller: Yeah. I usually skip it. Now I remember why. :(
Ruckus
@ChrisNYC:
Wow, that is one unflattering picture of E. Erickson.
Not really. It’s just that sometimes the truth hurts.
The Other Bob
Glad to see the Erin Burnett on the list. She sucked from her first week on the job and covering the OWS, parroting the typical “what do they stand for?” BS.
Elizabelle
MSNBC now has Morning Hack.
Hosted by Joe Scarborough, number 14, with #1 Mark Halperin and #18 Jon Meacham.
I too am shocked by the no David Gregory. An oversight. Alas, so many hacks, so little room.
Downpuppy
@Marc: The whole dumping on Naomi Wolf made no sense. It was just some spat Pareene had with her – all seemed within the bounds of normal disagreement between writers. He didn’t even mention her Napolitano/OWS conspiracy foolishness.
In a lot of ways it’s a very personal list. Some silly looking French guy nobody ever heard of, and a lot of good-looking women who play airheads on the TeeVee News taking space from the usual crowd, most of which were on last year’s list. Definitely some selection by picture.
Elizabelle
@The Other Bob:
re Erin: you know, that surprised me.
Was kind of rooting for her, as “regional girl makes good”, and then heard that sneering OWS voiceover.
I’d not realized she, too, was a hack. But she is.
MikeJ
@jl:
I’ve never seem Morning Joe or his sidekick, but the tv listings tell me the sidekick has a show of his own on before Joe.
gaz
If Alex Pareene were as motivated as the other hacks – he’d be on that list too.
Double, nay, TRIPLE for David Sirota (a more annoying and lazy writer, I’ve not seen at salon). See his craptastic “throw away your smartphone cuz it’s destroying your life” nonsense. Or his blatant race trolling articles. Or his vegan rampaging/moralizing bullshit. If there was ever a reason to punch a hippy, it’s name is David Sirota.
I’d rather read Robert Reich, the ask a pilot guy, or even Cary Tennis. heh.
jl
@Downpuppy:
that is why the list is worth a skim, for specific instances of malfeasance and unethical conduct by the hall of famers, or the soon to be hall of famers.
In my opinion, if Pareene wanted to do something useful, and a little different he should broaden his horizons. For example and hack list for bad reporting, which is common.
One irritating example is reporting of the (artificial) Post Office crisis. I listened through an ‘in depth’ radio news report on the Post Office problems, not even a mention of the bogus ridiculous, and unique, Congressional requirements for retirement prefunding .
Or a list of the various hackish, self proclaimed, and very pretentious and inconsistent, and untransparent, ‘fact check’ organizations, some of which seem to be editorial rooms at random newspapers.
Cris (without an H)
Amanda Marcotte occasionally fisks Roiphe’s nonsense. I love this intro from a post last year:
jl
@MikeJ: I meant his blond lady sidekick, whose name I can never remember to spell. I’ll take a shot at the first name: Mika? I think she is Spignew’s (sp?????) kid.
Edit; on second thought you have actively do something, or for some types of hack, actively do nothing on a regular basis to be a hack, so never mind. Mika only passively slides into random tantrums and episodes of poutrage. Not enough to even rate hackdom.
MikeJ
@gaz: The ask the pilot guy is actually a commercial pilot, so he has at least minimal knowledge of what he writes about[1]. Compare that to the typical political writer.
[1] He’s actually darn good, and the commercial pilots I know have never taken issue with anything he’s written.
Martin
@Downpuppy:
They tried to recount, but couldn’t because of gastritis.
WeeBey
Without Greenwald on it, that list is meaningless.
Valdivia
@Martin:
FTFW!
carpeduum
@WeeBey: +1 on that. Of course Salon would never do that to one of their own but it would be funny if someone like thinkprogress or thepeoplesview pointed out their hypocrisy on it.
May as well put Joan Walsh on the list too.
Amir Khalid
@jl:
I think you mean Mika Brzezinski, whose father Zbigniew was Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor. Polish names are tricky to spell.
dance around in your bones
@jl:
Oh gawd, this and this and this. WTF. I try to explain this to people and they just glaze over.
Raven
@Amir Khalid: She parades around in their commercials in high heels and tight, short dresses and then scolds everyone in the universe with her list of pet peeves. Total fucking nag.
WeeBey
@carpeduum:
What’s hackier than leaving your own people off a hack list?
It’s almost like their deliberate hipsterish contrarianism is an elaborate ruse…
And, my, yes, Walsh ought to be there, too.
jl
@Raven: it does go to show you that Mika and Joe are a good match, though. Mika looks better. Give her the show, I am tired of the brutal goofus Morning Joe on the hack list.
Martin
@dance around in your bones:
Tell them it’s the equivalent of requiring voters to pre-pay their expected taxes for the next 75 years.
They’ll understand it then.
FlipYrWhig
@WeeBey: There should definitely be a “Salon Hack” list to go along with the Salon “Hack List.” Because they have a stable of hacktastic contributors there, including anyone who has ever written anything for them about a movie.
WeeBey
@FlipYrWhig: I think we have a blog project!
The Other Chuck
How about John McCain? He may as well be a news pundit for all the time he spends warming seats in the tv studios.
Corner Stone
@WeeBey: Do you mean Brandon Walsh? From 90210 fame?
FlipYrWhig
@Corner Stone: John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted. Also Steve Walsh, predecessor to Troy Aikman. The Clan Walsh hasn’t exactly covered itself in glory, has it?

Incredibly, Fox has decided to run the Josh Block story – that is, they’ve decided to run Block’s smears as a story, and cite Block as the source:
Media Matters, Think Tank Ripped for Israel Remarks: David Brock’s Media Matters, left- leaning group under fire for comments on lawmakers’ support of Israel
Top trending on their front page. Now that’s some balls, your story gets blown before you can post it and you run it anyway
gaz
@MikeJ: Yeah. I’m aware.
Which is why Ask A Pilot is one of my favorite sections. And also, when he steps in it (like he did with his tranny-air gag) he fesses, acknowledges, moves on. Very professional.
Nearly every other contributor at salon could learn a thing or three from him.
Robert Reich, also too. He puts more thought into his material than most of the rest of the writers combined.
And FTR, Joan Walsh is an idiot – even when she’s right, double for David Sirota.
I don’t know why Salon didn’t farm the rich tapestry of idiocy it has in house. They didn’t really need to go outside for half of that list.
FlipYrWhig
@pragmatism: Better that than the Ball-Walshers.
Corner Stone
@FlipYrWhig: Maybe Dylan Walsh from Nip/Tuck?
He makes about as much sense on that list.
AA+ Bonds
@FlipYrWhig:

So…she’s an idiot…even when she’s right?
pragmatism

Corner Stone
Butt scratcher? Butt scratcher!!
FlipYrWhig
@pragmatism: Life’s been good to him, so far.
gaz
@Corner Stone: Yep.
Her columns fail to have any intellectual heft to them.
She regurgitates obvious liberal positions as though it’s worth the time to read something we already know.
I’d write an online formulaic column generator for Joan Walsh.
But apparently salon already beat me to it.
dance around in your bones
@Martin: I mean, I get it…but jeehoozalah, WTF with the Post Office Hate.
I swear, the whole world has gone crazy.

@lamh35:
WTF is with that guy? As much as I relish Betty Cracker unloading on him every few days, he’s still busy making life miserable for as many of his constituents as he possibly can.

pragmatism
@FlipYrWhig: i see what you did there. well done.
i think life has been the hardest on Rep. Joe Walsh’s (R-IL) kids.
FlipYrWhig
@AA+ Bonds: IMHO _all_ their film crit is atrocious, careening between overwrought pretension and unfunny snark-by-numbers. But I react that way to most film writing, to be honest. I burnt out on Peter Travers of Rolling Stone around 1995 after trying desperately to make myself like yet another indie flick he praised about drug addiction and/or troubled women experimenting with their sexual identity.
Corner Stone
@gaz:
Thank God. It’s not like anyone else is bothering to reiterate a liberal position in any main media format.
Kudos to Joan Walsh, and my thanks.
gaz
@FlipYrWhig: No shit right?
Go to Balloon Juice for the substance.
And salon to bait the trolls
In fact, I think the massive troll parade is the only reason salon gets any traffic at all.
Adding, “Ask a Pilot” is too good for them. They should be eternally grateful.
FlipYrWhig
@pragmatism: True, and I should have included him in the Walsh Rogues’ Gallery. But I’ve unfairly overlooked ’49ers maestro Bill Walsh.
pragmatism
@FlipYrWhig: i was having troubles coming up with a “good” walsh as well. bill was a maestro indeed. thanks.
gaz
@Corner Stone: Or you can hit 90% of the rest of the liberal blog-sphere and get the same piece/position sooner, and delivered with more wit and insight.
You act as though Joan is some kind of bulwark against the unwashed masses of the conservative media.
She’s not. She doesn’t even break stories. She just springboards her posts off of the other staff there (watch, she reacts – she doesn’t act). She’ll write a piece only after the rest of her minions are finished exhausting it.
For me it’s not good enough just to be a liberal writer.
If you want me to respect your blogging chops, you need wit, style, and the willingness to get out in front of an issue FIRST. Rather than only wading into the pool after everyone else says it’s safe – and than delivering bland bullshit that’s utterly predictable.
Neil
This article is epic. LOVE.
On page 3 or so is Everyone’s Least Favorite Morning Show host, Joey the Scar. The bit about Willie Geist made me spittake.
Too true. Too true.
Corner Stone
@gaz: So, where are these other liberal blog sphere presences? I’m interested to add them to my daily scan.
“If you want me to respect your blogging chops”
I fervently hope she reads this and understands the changes she needs to make to satisfy your discerning tastes.
Mike in NC
@dance around in your bones:
The USPS has been a favorite whipping boy for years, and it’s not limited to the usual wingnuts. Standard anti-union stuff. Apparently making a decent wage with OK benefits is unacceptable in 21st century America. My dad retired from the USPS, and he and my mom really needed the medical plan when they got old, or else they’d have become destitute.
Bill Fucking O’Reilly recently wrote a piece about how the federal government needs to stop doing so many things, including delivering the mail! Another stupid asshole who drools about the Constitution but never actually bothered to read it.
jl
@Neil: for a guy who is supposed to be for ‘civility’, Morning Joe sure does blow up a lot, lose his temper, bully and dismiss. At least that is what I infer from internet clips, since I don’t watch the show on TV.
But maybe only the blow up clips get posted.
But he doesn’t use bad words I guess so there you are: civil.
gaz
@Corner Stone:
No. I was lying. Balloon Juice for example – is actually a den of closet neo-cons funded by david koch.
Are you for real?
Hint. It’s 2011. Technology is grand. They have these neat things called blogrolls. Try it sometime. Even here!
jl
@Mike in NC:
That damn commie Benjamin Franklin, getting the government to do too much stuff. The founders would be rolling in their graves.
I also suspect that another source is potential private carriers who want some action for doing less with more. And since there will be hoots of protest when regular delivery is unavailable or too expensive in many rural (and mainly conservative) areas, nice government outsourcing that will force them to do way less with way more, which GOP loves for their corporate base.
Too get back on topic, Pareene’s list is getting a little too precious. Should take on some more daring media and press hackitude, and a lot of reporting on USPS fake crisis falls into that category.
Edit: But the parts where Pareene documents latest corruption news of, say, Will, are useful. Nice handy dandy link for people who think people like that are straight. They are not, they are crooked.
Corner Stone
@gaz: Hey clown. You’re the one making the claim.
gaz
@Corner Stone:
You *made* that claim.
And it’s wrong on it’s face. Obviously, painfully, mind-blisteringly wrong.
Joan, is that you?
Omnes Omnibus
@Corner Stone: So you’re back to just being a dick again? Glad to see that somethings remain remain constant in this topsy-turvy world of ours.
gaz
@Omnes Omnibus: Corner Stone has never heard of
Paul Krugman
Cenk Uygur
Keith Olberman
Rachel Maddow
Matt Tabbi
etc.
nor the hordes of liberal bloggers.
Noted.
FlipYrWhig
@gaz: @Corner Stone: I’m not even sure what you’re arguing about. gaz said that Joan Walsh is an idiot and formulaic, and you say (I think) that even if she’s formulaic at least she’s out there taking the fight to the airwaves. Do I have that right?
Omnes Omnibus
@gaz: When CS is in one of his “moods,” it’s best to just leave him alone. Unless you want to poke him…

I hope his insurance company finally reduces the deductable on his meds. Seems he could use it.
gaz
@FlipYrWhig: To be clear, I took particular exception to a specific statement that he made, which I quoted above: “It’s not like anyone else is bothering to reiterate a liberal position in any main media format.”
Tell me that ain’t just wrong. I dare ya!
Worse: he doubled down on stupid.
Corner Stone
@gaz:
That is the claim you made.
Corner Stone
@Omnes Omnibus: Oh Yutsano, I just don’t know what I’m going to do with you.
WeeBey
I don’t recall ever reading a Joan Walsh columnn and feeling moved or that I’d discovered any insight.
She doesn’t suck as much as Greenwald; she still sucks, and, perhaps most importantly, sucks in much the same way the other people on that list suck.
gaz
@Corner Stone: Yep. And if you weren’t being a pig-headed moron, I’d trawl what’s left of Salon’s article archives (akamai nuked at least half during the “upgrade”) just to prove my point. I’ve been a regular visitor of salon for years (guilty pleasures of flaming trolls). In that time, I’ve rarely (almost never) seen her post anything that wasn’t
A) Already on salon’s FP courtesy of another writer
B) Already up on an overwhelming majority of the major liberal blogs before she ever got around to it.
But since you are being block-headed, I’m thinking at this point, that Omnibus was correct.
You’re just not worth it.
Also, your Joan fetish is kind of disturbing.
Tell me, CS, what is the sound of one hand fapping?
Corner Stone
@gaz:
It’s obvious, isn’t it?
Any post by you.
Omnes Omnibus
@Corner Stone: You are mixing up your milquetoast center-lefties. The personal insults will work better if you are clear on who is who.
Corner Stone
@Omnes Omnibus: At this point, no difference.
gaz
@Omnes Omnibus: ARG.
My desire to poke him is probably driven by the same kind of thing that makes you want to keep tonguing a sore tooth. I want to stop, it’s painful to behold this fail parade on CS’s part. And yet, strangely, I can’t help it (Clerks 2 comes to mind “I’m disgusted! But I can’t look away!)
I think I’ll abandon the thread for awhile. Hopefully he won’t stalk.
Corner Stone
@gaz: It’s easy. Don’t say stupid shit and I won’t have much to say to you.
Based on the last bit of your posting, I doubt you can handle that.

gaz
@Odie Hugh Manatee: Sure explains a lot.
I just thought he was a drunk regular, who was sane when sober.
Now I know better. I’ll have to employ cleek’s special gadget I suppose. I luvs the pie-hole filter.
Strange I didn’t catch this before. I figured I knew the usual suspects.
FlipYrWhig
@Odie Hugh Manatee: For what it’s worth, I don’t remember the McCain-voting part, or racist language beyond that one weird thread that led to the suspension and then front-page internecine blogwar.
Odie Hugh Manatee
@gaz:
No pie filter needed, CS is like a pinata that is looking for a place to get smacked open. For example, gems like this just write the responses for themselves. It’s too easy.
@Corner Stone: “Don’t say stupid shit and I won’t have much to say to you.”
Agreed. At least you know your limitations and let us know them, I’ll give you that much. Anything above stupid and you’re in over your head.

@FlipYrWhig: President Stuck dropped some “knowledge” on his good buddy Odious Manatee.
The two of them have been fapping about McCain for some time now.
As far as racist goes, that’s like saying “hello” here at BJ. It’s de jure. Or is that de rigeur? Or maybe de facto?
Shit, I can’t tell any more.
FlipYrWhig
@Corner Stone: I think it’s _de gustibus_. Davis X. Machina would know, being the Balloon Juice Senior Latin Correspondent.
Corner Stone
@FlipYrWhig: True. No thread is complete until DMX brings the Latin on the real. But, WTS:
“Me gustibus. You gustibus. We missed the bus. They missed the bus.”
dance around in your bones
@Corner Stone: See, that’s funny. Bring on the funny.

I don’t know. It was clearly a tough competition this year. But I kinda feel like Bobo was robbed. He obviously put so much effort into that odious column blaming liberals for Penn State. It’s really scary to imagine how far he’s going to have to go next year to win it.

@Corner Stone: All team, all the time.

It’s important to look at both the 2010 and 2011 lists — there is some overlap, but the 2010 list has many essential hacks who don’t make the list this year. Broder took the easy way out, but how could any list of hacks not include 2010’s number one hack, Richard Cohen? Clearly, the way to deal with a never-was-has-been like Cohen is to award him Hack Emeritus status and leave it at that.
It was good to see David Brooks make both lists — a testament to his important role as the country’s designated “reasonable conservative.” On the other hand, a pig like Erick Erickson is better suited to a list of the world’s worst and most useless human beings than to one of media hacks, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t belong on the 2011 list. (The porcine reference has more to do with Erickson’s character than his girth.)

@Bago: huh?
my nick was selected after partaking in a potentially dangerous amount of keif.
it came from invader zim, I suppose.
Speaking of nicknames – Bago is a nickname of a friend of mine in meatspace.
Doubt you are he, but it’s a funny coincidence.

Damn, ya got me. Thought #1 would be Sully.
gaz
@tomvox1: I figure sully’s only major accomplishment in life was growing that grotesque beard.
(Some people can pull it off, I think – Krugman does the egghead, tweed-clad professor look pretty well – it works for him)
But in sully’s case – it just doesn’t work, he looks like the guy I imagine who scrawls his phone number on a truck stop restroom stall, for a tawdry cruise.. dunno why – he just does…

How many of these individuals have a degree in journalism or even bothered to enroll in a JOUR 101 class?
Joey Maloney
@ChrisNYC: In fairness, that’s not his best side.
