If you’re looking for a sci-fi film with some great gun/hand-to-hand combat senquences and IMHO, so pretty good acting, then check out this movie from 2002 called “Equilibrium”. It stars Batman himself, Christian Bale and Taye Diggs. I’ve seen it before, and I watched it again recently and I enjoyed it the first time and still like it. It was a very underrated movie.
The Senate on Tuesday voted to keep a controversial provision regarding military detainees in a Defense spending bill, setting up a showdown with President Obama.
The controversial language in question would require the military to detain terrorist suspects, including U.S. citizens, allowing for their indefinite detention. Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., led an effort to remove the language and provide more room for study on the issue, but his amendment was rejected by a vote of 37 in favor to 61 against.
President Obama has promised to veto the Defense bill if it includes the controversial provision, with his administration arguing that applying the new rules within the U.S. would challenge the “fundamental American principle that our military does not patrol our streets.”
61 Senators in favor of shredding centuries of due process. It’s as if the Constitution nowadays were nothing more than some fancypants wish list.
ETA: The bill permits indefinite (permanent) detention (imprisonment) without trial (subject to the President’s say so).

Also, I saw “Moulin Rouge” for the first time from beginning to end. Ewan MacGregor was a better singer than I expected. Nicole Kidman was not so much a great singer, but she looked beautiful. The movie was ok, but I gotta say that as a Microbiologist, I was completely distracted by the fact that this hookah was coughing up blood one minute and kissing or breathing on somebody the next, spreading TB like it wasn’t nuthing! Ugh! Ruined the whole vibe of the movie for me…lol.

Definitely. SweetPea was in the top left corner of April last year (I think, gotta check). I’m currently taking as many photos as possible of the three of them. Bella and Gracie are chasing each other around in my office as I post this….
SweetPea just wants to be left alone. On a lap, preferably.

I’ve been waiting all day for an O.T. so I could unload my grievances. But I don’t really care about them any more and you all probably won’t either.
Short version:
Meddling interloper
dipstick end dropped in crank case
Unnecessary engine teardown.
Grief and consternation.
My wife and her brother are gonna be on “The Chew” tomorrow. It is her B-day gift to him.
I hope getting up 3-4 hours before I even THINK of getting out of bed will be worth it.

@RossInDetroit: Here’s my favorite awful car repair story. My brother rebuilds his Spitfire tranny. It’s done, it’s in the car, and we see a needle bearing on the floor.
Sez I: “What the hell, you’ve already got a bunch of others in there, you don’t need this one.” Sez my dad: “Take the tranny back out, take it apart, and put it back together right!”
He listened to my dad.

(1) FCC releases redacted AT&T/T-Mobile report. Does not look good for AT&T at all. DOJ gets the unredacted report. One point I saw mentioned in the report; Before the Cinglar/AT&T/Centenial/Dobson acquisitions, total employment was 70,000. Once the smoke cleared, 67,000. AT&T’s big argument was that the combined AT&T/T-Mobile would create new jobs.
