wormtown
we need more pictures of your pets :)
Mark B.
Nothing like the minor problems that jerry Sandusky is facing.
AdamK
It’s still there. Right now it’s blocking the Chris Hayes clip below.
Gilles de Rais
change.org screeneating ad from hell still there.
eemom
I want a picture of the blog owner. (800th request)
ETA: and the motherfucker IS still there, poking into my comment.
Yevgraf
Yes. This AMC thing about showing hokey-assed 50s and 60s westerns on Saturdays makes me want to run death panels for the sorts of old people who find that sort of “entertainment” to be desirable.
eemom
@Yevgraf:
aintcha got a remote?
Shade Tail
Like others above, I’m still seeing the change.org thingy.
jafg
Yea, how about getting some real bloggers instead of these typing monkeys.
The worst of the worst typing monkeys are:
Anne the black helicopters are coming to shut down OWS Laurie
Mister All Cain all the time Mix
Doug Meet Me at the Mens Room at Applebees on Saturday J
And add yourself to that list Wrong Again Cole….However, like your opinions, that one is clearly not practical.
Kola Noscopy
Are there any other minor problems that need to be addressed?
Yes: There is something called an ABL that posts here from time to time. Could you take care of that glitch?
I KID.
Sort of…
AdamK
That troll is a minor problem.
WereBear
The Republicans still have the House.

As annoying as the Target petition was, I signed it. So, mission accomplished, but I’m glad it’s gone because it f’d up my reading.
Re: Target, I understand they’re going after the guy who started the petition. I mean, how petty is this headline?
Target: Employee behind Black Friday petition not scheduled to work that day
Gawd.
orygunian
No snark here, thanks, that damn thing was driving me nuts.
khead
No open thread for college football. Oh wait…
asiangrrlMN
Not enough Tunchie pics or drunk Cole tweeting/blogging.
Uriel
Well, there is that ‘Samara Morgan’ spambot that seems to be cluttering up threads lately with weird pidgin english messages about fox hunting with Jullian Assange in the spring…
I kid! I kid!
Yutsano
@khead: North Carolina State is thumping Clemson right now. That counts as a problem amirite?
@khead: Hi hon. New pics of Her Eminence coming soon.
asiangrrlMN
@Yutsano: Was that last one directed at me? If so, NAOW!
ETA: Even if it’s not and there’s something you haven’t been telling me, I still demand the pics NAOW!
JGabriel
John Cole:
Can you do anything about the unemployment rate and income inequality? I hear that they’re both a little high. There should be some sort of monetary thermostat we could dial back to turn them down. I want to call it a Monistat(tm), but I think that name is already taken?

srsly needz moar tunch ‘n rosie
gogol's wife
Thank you so much. Wondering what Tunch looks like these days.
Violet
Thanks for removing it.
Why does the site sometimes not let people edit comments, even if they’re within the five minute edit window? It’s an intermittent problem, but definitely happens. Is it just FYWP?
Also, more John Cole posts and more Tunch, Lily and Rosie pics, please. Videos of them would be excellent. And Ginny and Guesly pics and videos would be a real bonus, especially if they’re messing up your dad’s nice clean room after he’s vacuumed.
Yutsano
@gogol’s wife: He has grown to the proportion that the only lens he will fit in is from a deep space telescope. That’s my theory anyway.
The Ancient Randonneur
I miss the change.org ad.
Comrade Mary
Coming up soon: Black Hole Tunch.
(Seriously, it’s an absolutely killer acoustic version.)
(And for my daily moment of WTF: Cornell is just three years younger than me. Yes, talented people: be part of my cohort and continually relevant.)
ARGH:: Fuckin’ Yahoo! sound at the end. Sorry. Fuckers.

concern trolls aren’t interesting enough
Jenny
can you stop Adam Sandler from making more movies
The Dangerman
Not enough cowbell.
MeDrewNotYou
@asiangrrlMN: Seconded. Site needs more Tunch.
Also too, I have Adblock and Flashblock on Firefox and the Change.org petition is gone for me. I tried blocking the thing, but it still overlapped until John fixed it.
a hip hop artist from Idaho (fka Bella Q)
@Uriel: I don’t kid. I mean really, it’s quite tiresome to have entire threads drowned in her tantrum insultfests.

cckids
@Jenny:
This, for the love of all that’s sacred.
Shade Tail
Be more proactive about the trolls, I guess. I mean, having open comments is all fine and well, but there are more than just a few wastes of DNA who take advantage of that. Perfect case in point, comment #10.
RossInDetroit
@Shade Tail:
We have a perfect solution to trollage in place already. They are gradually covered in a translucent nacreous coating until they’re merely a lump and not an irritant.
Raven
Go Dawgs! SEC East Champs. Oh cornerstone, where’s your cocks?
piratedan
@cckids: i’d be okay if Will Farrell and Dane Cook were added to that list too.
Yutsano
@Raven: The Illini looked like they had a chance for awhile there.
And what happened to Clemson? Total meltdown?
dollared
@Cole. Yes. I wish you to get married and have twins. Your bitching and moaning has been less than epic recently, and a wife-and-two-kids will fix that right up.
Raven
@Yutsano: Yea, I was taping it and trying not to see the score at the Georgia game but I slipped. Zook has got to go but I’m afraid no one really good will want that job. On the other hand, the Georgia win was uninspired but it was a beautiful day and the walk back from the stadium made me think about how lucky I am to live here. (and be packing for a week at the beach!)
JGabriel
@Violet:
Don’t know for sure is this is true, but: I read somewhere else on this site that when a comment gets released from moderation (or deleted), WordPress screws up the ownership tag for the subsequent comments up to the time of release. So, if a comment gets taken out of moderation during your 5 minute window, you’ll lose your right to edit it.
.
Yutsano
@dollared:
Griping from experience here? :)
@Raven: Well at least the Huskies are falling apart. But the Cougs ain’t doing too much better. Being down 7-0 near halftime usually doesn’t bode well.
schrodinger's cat
We need more Tunch. Tunch pics, Tunch live-action Cam, the works.
Kthx

Your block quote comes inside the paragraph, instead of outside of it, which is wrong. For example, on the last post you made, in regards to the protestors, the code looks like this (and I’m using bracers instead of brackets so it’s visible) :
[p] [blockquote]During the early afternoon hours and because of the request to take down the tents, … [/p]
[p] To this effect, I am forming a task force made of faculty, students and staff … [/blockquote] [/p]
This is improper syntax and it causes havoc on some browsers. Consistently, the second paragraph looks like it is outside of the block quote on my reader. The block quote should be outside the p’s. Since it is inside, it is being closed by the closing P in the first paragraph and subsequent paragraphs look like part of the blog post commentary instead of part of the quoted material.
It should look like this:
[blockquote] [p] During the early afternoon hours and because of the request to take down the tents, … [/p]
[p] To this effect, I am forming a task force made of faculty, students and staff … [/p] [/blockquote]

@Yutsano:
I passed on NC State (+6.5) so, yeah, it’s a problem. Heh.
I promise cat pics soon. Really, I do.
I don’t have an Internet account (image shack or filckr) though so you gotta wait until I download the pics we took today and send them to Anne. Gotta do that I guess.
Bought her a house today – which she is ignoring – but otherwise she is doing great.

@Kola Noscopy: I enjoy ABL’s posts, thank you very much. So why don’t you stop your bitchin.
WeeBey
@JenJen:
That actually seems like a valid point, doesn’t it?
dollared
@WeeBey: No, no, it’s a completely invalid point. The point of the petition is that it’s a bad idea. For everyone.
It’s like saying that people with jobs or who are rich cannot participate in OWS. Jesus. Is it that easy to mess with your logic circuits?
gbear
The righthand border still breaks all the time for those of us who use a browser that is unpopular with BJ cool kids. Nothing like having to hit the refresh key for two minutes before being allowed to read a post.
(and before someone points out that I am using an unpopular browser, I’d like to point out that said unpopular browser works just fine for every other site that I have ever visited. This is the only site with a fuck-up)
Kola Noscopy
@Shade Tail:
Fuck you, loser.
Kola Noscopy
Seriously, what is it about commenters such as Shade Tall who are unable to find it within their delicate constitutions to ignore comments they don’t care for?
Hot house flowers of the most sensitive type. Good lord.
Kola Noscopy
@msskwesq:
WTH? From the blogmaster right on down, where would BJ be without “bitchin?”
Donut
Cole, please do something about the people who complain about “trolls” harshing their mellow.
I mean, WTF? Install the cleek pie filter if these people bother you that much – or just learn to skip over the offending posts.
IT IS NOT THAT HARD
shoutingattherain
More naked mopping.
khead
Oh my.
If irony is not already dead here at BJ, I applaud you for trying like hell to kill it.

@Yutsano:
Oh dear. 37-13. I’ll have to talk my brother down tomorrow.

If your forget to fill out your name and email in the comments form and hit submit it takes you to the 3rd worst designed error page ever and loses your comment.
It should only take 3-4 hours at most to fix that.

@gbear:
If your unpopular browser doesn’t have the ability to impersonate other browsers or have compatibility modes that use older versions of HTML, I’d say its unpopularity was earned.
D.C. Forbes
I’ve noticed of late a ‘404 Error’ whenever I click on a photo inserted in a blog post (rather than the blog title)…the ‘Darth Vader in Ukraine’ image is the latest example….
Small technical glitch aside, how are Lily & Rosie? I don’t recall seeing much of them lately…then again, post mid-century memory is sometimes suspect ;>)….

WeeBey
@dollared:
It’s a stupid petition to start. Lemme clue this guy in on something: People work shitty hours.
But I certainly think it’s worth noting that the guy starting it is 1. Not scheduled to work; and 2. Is working another job.
RossInDetroit
@WeeBey:
I worked retail in a mall for 4 of the last 7 years. What time your shift starts is far from the shittiest aspect of the holidays.
If it was my petition I’d be asking for a chance to park closer than 1/2 mile from the damn building, and no shuttle bus.
WeeBey
@RossInDetroit:
Never did retail, did plenty of restaurants. Where’s my petition banning the close/open?
dollared
@WeeBey: Glad to know you think American workers should have no input or control over their working conditions. You must be full of hope, every day.

@WeeBey:
Ah, the dreaded clopening. Been there, done that.

Ever since he was crucified by Detroit, Timmy Tebow has been facing somnambulating defenses. Could you send a case of No-Doz to the San Diego Chargers c/o Qualcomm Stadium by next week?
And ABL rawks.

Stop having good movie conversations when I don’t have time to check the site.

If they’re is such a thing as a pie filter; DO NOT ALLOW IT!
These fools need all the exposure they can get!

@Kola Noscopy: You can ignore an asshole at a party too, but it’s still a drag that someone has come to the party and decided that acting like an asshole is their best bet for getting attention.
AA+ Bonds
That’s exactly what they’re thinking, John. They’re thinking that they can get away with it, and many of them got into the business of exercising physical authority because they like bullying and abusing people.
Good cops know this and if they can do it without reprisal, they’ll point out the psychopaths around them, lickety-split. The problem is that the current cultural norms reduce accountability to the level that the psychopaths often succeed and flourish.
JR
I would beg for more than 5 minutes to edit my posts, as my typing is not what it was before my joints and muscles and things began to get hi-milage on them.
Neither is my thinking what it was back when I was a practicing software geek, so sometimes I realize only too late that I haven’t represented my thoughts very well.
So maybe 10 or 15 minutes? Or even forever, if the tools would make you put an adddendum with a new time and date below your original confused post?
Otherwise, huuray for blog meisters!
JenJen
@WeeBey: Late getting back and I see others have responded, but I think Target’s taking a ridiculous angle here. It’s irrelevant even if it’s true that the employee already had Black Friday off. He’s not doing it for himself. He’s not calling attention to it for himself. Maybe it’s a crazy thought in today’s world, but perhaps he cares about his fellow coworkers?
Look, I’ve been in the food & beverage business for most of my life. I’ve worked plenty of Thanksgivings and Christmases. Thing is, I sure wasn’t making $8.00 an hour, and I knew going in that especially in the bar business, you’re open on Thanksgiving. This opening-on-Thanksgiving or at midnight thing is relatively new to retail. I think it’s a horrible trend based on greed, and I feel especially for low-wage employees who have to leave their families on one of the most sacred of American holidays just to face the mobs of shoppers. It’s gross.
Just my opinion, but can’t Target go six hours without shoveling in money? Same goes for any of the retailers opening on Thanksgiving itself. Midnight is bad enough.

@xian: Ones definition of an “Asshole” to them, might be “Witty” to another.
This is “Frog-Town”.
I never realized there where so many one percenter wanna be’s here.
It is telling.

@Comrade Mary: ‘Black Hole Tunch’ would make a good band name.

@Raven: I hope we gave you a moment of panic sometime in the 1st half.
