Having some sexy cold Vietnamese noodle salad. Watching MNF.
That’s Monday Night Football for those not so inclined.

there is a video on funny or die called “Heterosexual Guys Who love Glee” when I first saw it I thought of ur love of the Sing-off and IDK why, but it made me giggle.
aint’ nothing wrong with loving the sing-off. good singing is good singing.
Jenny
Barney Frank was on Maddow tonight hippie-punching OWS, saying he doubts they have what it takes to organize their policy positions into political action.
I can understand why he’s skeptical.
cathyx
@Mnemosyne: That is hilarious. I wish it were that easy. I especially like when they start out how he says vamonos. Very American accent, but by the end of the trip he speaks perfect Spanish.
lamh34
anyone catch Barney Frank on Rachel Maddow just now? he basically told Rachel, that he supports the OWS movement, but the teaparty is powerful because they also took political action. Mr. Frank said that the reason why the GOP congress are full subsidiaries to the Tea Party Movement is becasue the Tea Party voted and they lobby people. which led to current GOP members to be “afraid” to stand up cause they may be primaried.
Mr Frank was a great interview, Rachel did a lot of talking over him, and kinda tried to make it seem like Barney was saying that the rallying is not useful, but Frank quickly told her that’s not what he was saying. He said that the rallying and protesting was good, but that it needs to also be felt at the voting booth…
Anyway, I thought it was a good segment. if anyone finds the video later, I’ll post.
ETA: @Jenny: IMHO, Congressman Frank wasn’t hippy punching at all.

I was telling my boss today that a fellow I know has a robotic tractor that will plow perfect rows all day while the operator sits there and watches a display screen. I found this fascinating, if inevitable.
The boss says yeah I saw that on The Tractor Channel.
If there is a Tractor Channel, and I’m too afraid to Google and find out if there is, then the existence of The Tractor Channel completely cancels out the awesomeness of robotic tractors. It just does.

ok, it’s been a long time since I watched HGTV’s House Hunters. I was waiting on the cable guy, so I’m watched it.
First of all let me say that the cable guy was kinda cute, but why oh why don’t my cable guy/delivery me look like this: My Dream Delivery Guy
Back to HGTV, what the heck are all these 20-somethings’ who are buying homes and condos for 250,000 to 500,000 dollars??? WTF do they do? It boggles my mind! and makes me a little pissy. I admit it. Ugh, this is probably why I stopped watching House Hunters!
Brian S
@Jenny: What Frank doesn’t get is that right now there’s no policy positions to organize. Right now, far as I can tell, the main point is to, well, rhetorically foment class warfare from the bottom and make it socially acceptable. At least that’s what I’m aiming for. The politicians will come to us eventually.
lamh34
@RossInDetroit: a tractor channel really? how much programming can one doe for a channel dedicated to tractors??? is there really a plethora of show ideas for such a channel. I’m fascinated by the idea of such a channel.
jeffreyw
@arguingwithsignposts: We try. I will admit that the hounds are very happy.

@Brian S: The Times (?) had a concern troll story today about the OWS trying to craft a policy statement.

Pentatonix strike me as the most like an “act” if you will and the best choice to win. The most similar to the past winners of the Sing-off. I think he helps that there are only 5 of them. The voices don’t get lost in the mix so much that way as the college groups do.
lamh34
@Brian S: IMHO, I don’t think Barney Frank was “hippy punching” at all. I suspect though that Rachel M thought he was attempting “hippy punching”, because she began to talk over him alot, but Frank still got in his POV. I thought it was a perfectly fine interview and no hippies were harmed during its filming.

@jeffreyw: You should open a tea room or something.

Singoff is good. Watching the X Factor this season (VERY much against my better nature). We know one of the 32. I suspect she didn’t make it to the 16 (she won’t tell us anything past this point other than to rag on all of the other acts that she hated – which apparently is most of them.) I have to admit I’m enjoying the show more than I expected, but not enough to tune into it again unless I happen to know someone else.
RossInDetroit
@lamh34:
Yeah, I don’t know but I’m taking his word for it. Why would someone make that up? I quit watching TV 35 years ago and The Tractor Channel (assuming it exists) just validates that decision.
lamh34
@Martin: I posted last week about X-factor. I was very resistant to watching it too. But then I caught one audition and I was caught up. I find that I like it.
cathyx
@lamh34: Watch at the end of the show when they show you what year it was made. They’re probably older shows when the real estate market was hot.
Mnemosyne
@Brian S:
I think his point is more that protesting is fine, but you have to get involved in the elections, too. Look at the way the Tea Partiers immediately went out and became precinct captains to influence the local selection of candidates and got their guys elected to the House.
This is a persistent weakness of the left, IMO — we’re not willing to go out and get our hands dirty in the actual electoral process whereas the right are happy to run for school boards to get their own people a foothold in politics.
lamh34
@cathyx: naw it was 2010!!! In Hotlanta. I need to find out what the heck kinda job this chick had in ATL that she was able to even budget that much for a freakin’ condo.
If it’s like that in the ATL, then I just need to get my BBBW azz on down to Hotlanta.
lamh34
@RossInDetroit:
Agreed, television really jumped the shark if there really is a Tractor Channel..lol
Roger Moore
@RossInDetroit:
It looks as if there’s a tractor channel on youtube, but not on TV. [bad lipsynch]Your googlefu is weak.[/bad lipsynch]

That’s actually pretty much how I feel about the Golf Channel.

I will be officially retired, in the eyes of the Federal Government, 01 Jan ’12. Long may I live and suck at the public teat. You kids, off the lawn and back to work!

@SiubhanDuinne: LOL, BBBW = Big Beautiful Black Woman…but thx for the welcome…lol

@Roger Moore:
I was afraid to actually look. I guess that’s what he was talking about. I guess YouTube’s better than cable. Maybe there’s hope for humanity yet.

@RossInDetroit:
Cable doesn’t have the YouTube comments section – so it evens out.

I saw this segment on Lawrence O’s show, and I’m kinda feeling Lawrence’s point on this one.
Lawrence O’Donnell Chides Bill Clinton And Lady Gaga For Inappropriate Birthday Flirting
The whole “Marilyn Monroe’esque” bit of Gaga’s performance did make me cringe a little, especially with SoS Clinton sitting next to him.

In the MLK thread, people tried to make hay of the statue of MLK, I dare anyone to look at this pic and still feel the same way.

@lamh34: To be fair, it wasn’t “people” making that connection – it was troll douchebags, a lower species.
And the angle there does make the face look different than it does from below. Perhaps that’s where the perception comes from (not that I saw it, but, whatevs).
Great photo too.

@RossInDetroit:
You insensitive clod. My girlfriend left me for a tractor salesman.
Sent me a John Deere letter.

Yeah, that was a little uncomfortable to watch—but at least he wasn’t plowing her on The Tractor Channel. That would have been over the top.

@lamh34:
Something tells me Prezident Billbo Shaggins already has his own “BJ” calendar.
lamh34
@arguingwithsignposts: understood, but it just irks me when people say such decisive and final things about something they have never seen. as with most art things, pictures don’t always do them justice.
Anyway, powerful pic..n’est pas?
Hill Dweller
The Tea Party was backed(or co-opted) by the Koch brothers and other sociopathic billionaires who have been dying to impose their version of America on everyone else but never had the opportunity. The combination of a black Democratic president, Citizens United, and a massive economic crisis changed that. Throw in the MSM’s(especially Fox) promotion, and you get a ‘movement’. Thankfully, the teatards aren’t wearing well with the public, and will turn out to be the political version of Real Coke.
I would love to see OWS succeed and help change policy, but it is going to be very difficult. They will be going up against some very powerful people and their sock puppets in the media.
lamh34
@cbear: ha! I’m sure Bubba knows he way around a tractor from his Arkansas days at least.

Just heard Limp Bizkit’s “Nookie” for the first time in probably ten years. My daughter said, “This is probably the worst song I’ve ever heard.” From her mouth, dot dot dot.
Here’s some kitteh-and-bebe cute.

@lamh34: Well, this is an interesting development in OWS, if true. My first reaction was – it will never happen. If you think about it, though, a lot of stuff that couldn’t happen has.

@suzanne: We had a black, female cat like that. She was great with kids. She’d let them tug on her ears and otherwise maul her, and when she was tired of it she’d never bite or snarl, she’d just walk away.
Then again, that cat was also the friendliest one I’ve ever known. She was utterly convinced that everyone was her friend and needed her help. She was the only cat I’ve ever had that was allowed to go outdoors. She was in heaven whenever we had a barbecue. She introduced herself to everyone.
When she died, we had a number of people on the block who asked what had happened to her. Apparently, every kid around had met her and played with her. Most of the adults, too. Even when she was n the yard, she’d talk to everyone that walked by.

@Roger Moore: well the RFD Channel does come pretty close sometimes…..complete with tractor ads on the front page:

I went to Madison this weekend and got to see the Gophers end Wisconsin’s 32 game winning streak. First Badger loss since last Thanksgiving. Two very good games, with the eventual winner (Wisconsin on Friday; Minnesota on Sunday) dominating the first ten minutes and building a lead, only to hold off their opponent at the end. The Gophers never managed to tie the first game up, losing 3-2. Wisconsin did tie the game at 2 on Sunday, but Amanda Kessel scored a goal in her home town to give Minnesota a lead it didn’t relinquish.
A fun time was had by all. I remain convinced that these are the two best teams in the country, and that the Gophers might actually be slightly better this year.

@J. Michael Neal: My Scout is not really very outgoing or friendly, as a rule. She never hurts the baby, but she has very strict limits, and while she’s affectionate to everyone in the house, she’s really bonded to me primarily. And any time we have friends or other family over, she runs and hides. Which is why it was so amazing for her to just lay there in the middle of the floor and take the baby’s abuse for so long. It was adorable.
