Yoram Bauman FTW:
“The left wing, spineless. The right wing, heartless. The center, clueless. You’re so clueless and apathetic, you don’t even know what apathetic means. You’re so apathetic, you can’t even be bothered to look it up…

“Many people are surprised that libertarians are at the far right — they think of the Tea Party as the far right. But the Tea Party is a fascinating mixture of the far right of the political spectrum and the far center of the political spectrum, an explosive mixture of radical individualism and extreme cluelessness. These are people who believe in Social Darwinism, but they don’t believe in Darwin.“
(For The Win, Fvck The World — either one works.)

I’ve been having trouble accessing the site all day, so it’s not just you, okay?

I think Steve Buscemi’s foot sticking out of a woodchipper would be a better GOP spokesperson than John Boehner. #JustThoughtIdTellYa

Site’s been fine for me. I went to Peter Roskam’s website to get contact info for calling him tomorrow, and it kind of amazed me how partisan it is. Everything there was about what a debt-cutting hero he is, and how Obama is a liar, and there was even a plug for America Speaks Out or whatever that teaparty thing is. It’s like he thinks there aren’t any Democrats in his district, even though he literally won 51%-49% a few years ago. Walsh’s site (he’ll probably be my rep post redistricting) was a bit less aggressive, although he did misspell “district” at one point. Pieces of work, both of them. I hope the Chicago suburbs swing back towards the Dems like they did in 06/08.

Heh-heh. If the tea party was as disinterested and apathetic as the center, we wouldn’t be in this shit right now.

the corporate funding / FOX pushing of teatard events has dried up, there’s no longer a free lunch or bus rides to ‘protest events’, so the turn out has fallen like a rock…plus it never was as large as the ‘media’ made it out to be…. it’s not the ‘teaparty’ that’s the problem, it’s the money behind them…

With CU, get used to it.

No trouble accessing the site, but suddenly I am getting what looks to be a weird cell-phone optimized version of things. FYWP Mobile Pack — Forum Nokia! I guess I am supposed to click on ‘desktop site’ at the bottom. If I am never heard from again you will all know the reason why.

Something ominous in the details of the Reid plan:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/reids-plan/2011/07/11/gIQAHOl8YI_blog.html
Devil’s in the details, but that’s a whole lot of ‘fraud and abuse.’ Hopefully the emphasis is on the IRS. There is no disabled equivalent of the AARP, so I hope this is a legitimate attempt to go after fraud and not a backdoor cut. Current politics don’t stack up well for a defense of disabled or unemployed peoples’ continued right to a roof and some ramen.

@stinkdaddy: If you notice that the IRS enforcement is kinda snuck in with the other items, I doubt that was a mistake. That is where the serious $$ are, but you have to sneak that baby in there with all the get-the-criminal-class-beneficiaries pablum for the villagers and the lumpen-bourgeoisie.
See, e.g.: Leadbelly’s Bourgeois Blues.

This is an effort to kick people off SSDI and SSI.
I hope this doesn’t get through.

I think of myself as a centrist in some respects, but I never thought of the Tea Party as having a centrist component. Point noted. Likely “clueless centrism” is the basis for the unfortunate electoral rule “if things suck, throw the sitting party out”.

@stinkdaddy: Is $40Billion in something the size of SS really that much?

To be fair, Social Darwinism has little to do with Darwin. However, it has everything to do with glibertarianism.

Great video! The metric system…yet another thing that scientists and drug dealers have in common. I love Yoram! His demolition of Gregory Mankiw is unparalleled.

I’m a centrist in the way that I think both liberalism and conservatism include some good ideas and useful principles for an effective and stable government.
Note: That’s conservatism, not whatever drug-induced Randian-dystopian idio-oligarchy is behind the current Republican Party.
