Trying to fight the heat and unseasonable humidity. I’m going to be starting a batch of gazpacho tonight.

REPLY BUTTON FIX for Firefox and Chrome.
I just started looking into the “edit button” problem, but in this new FireFox profile I’m using it seems to have gone away. Maybe I’ll switch back to the old profile and see if it still exists for me.

Standing watch at McDonalds.

At work. Feeling nauesous.

I read this. Obama annoys me sometimes, even pisses me off, but I’m still proud he’s in office, and glad I supportered him, and I will again.

Bored, catching up on my DVR queue recorded from when I was out of town in NOLA. Watching my new guilty pleasure from MTV Canada…”1 Guy, 5 Girls”
Interesting question: What celebrity sex symblol do you think is not aging well?
My answer: Pamela Anderson & John Travolta

Resting from a day of cultivating in the fields. Fifty years of smoking has finally caught up with me.

I was just bullying Nick and FlipYrWhig at the same time, after complimenting Allan.

Apparently my life is WAY more exciting than any of yours. The odometer on my car turned over to 200,000 miles tonight. Let me tell you, it was a Moment.

Going “grrrrr”.
Gonna catch “Through the Wormhole” (with Morgan Freeman!!) on the Science channel for the first time in about an hour.
Never heard of the show, don’t know how many episodes there’s been, but it looks pretty cool.

@Just Some Fuckhead:
You said some other pooftie made Allan look butch by comp. Not sure that’s a compliment.
Or is pooftie no longer acceptable in this New Era of Civility?
God damn this is hard.

@MonkeyBoy:
It turns out that doing a hard (cache) refresh (control-Shift-R) makes the “click to Edit” thing reappear. It was confirmed by running two different profiles at the same time.

Sorry I missed last week. Last minute change in plans.
Went fishing this AM – caught nothing, the creek was too high and fast for trout, so we went to the reservoir and spent an hour dangling jigs and watching swallows skim the water. It was beautiful, but our cats were excited about the promised fish heads and were severely disappointed, requiring hours of naps to recover.

I’m apparently being the highlight of Just Some Fuckhead’s evening.

Nice video of a sandstorm in the Valley of the Sun.

HIGNIFY, season 41. News is much improved by Ian Hislop and Paul Merton going at it, especially if it’s had a chance to age and get a bit moldy. I may be repeating myself.

So.

I *was* writing a new essay to post on my blog, on the distinction between shareholders and stakeholders. However, that is now finished, so I have to figure out how to amuse myself. This may call for more bourbon.

Making tofu skins stuffed with veggies, pan fried fresh anchovies and mushrooms, playing wow and polishing off soulless. Not a bad evening.

@J. Michael Neal:
Have you thought about making potholders? It’s a lot of fun and it can be a real creative outlet. They also make excellent gifts.

I don’t know, but The Property Brothers on HGTV kind of skeeved me out at first. More than a little cheesy tossed in with some [New Era of Civility approved language].
But now I kind of dig them. Not sure what that says about me at this point. But I’m open to it, I guess. Now who has that latest Lady Gaga iTunes?

Okay, so I’m minding my own business on the porch hosing the cactus and two stray dogs run by. Towards the main road 300 feet away. I chased them around on foot for 30 minutes after calling the cops. Often at a dead run, in carpet slippers all over the neighborhood. No collar on either one. People and their fucking pets. My ferns got trampled in the melee. And I pulled my calf muscle again.
Fuck it. Let them get lost and picked up by the pound.

Not a lot of explosive decompression involved to this point.

Among the reasons I hate Glenn Beck was the way he’s used some great lefties with foreign names and demonized them.
I was turned on to Saul Alinsky back in the 70’s. Probably about the time he died I guess. So, although I wasn’t into any organizing I read his books and came away with a great affection for the man. The added bonus he made me laugh. A lot. Well, yesterday I was thinking about him and remembering his idea for the great American fart in and wondered if it was online. And it is, and it’s as funny now as it was then. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have all these years.

frogspawn – Boy, you ain’t kidding. Hacking the phones of dead soldiers? They’re doomed.

@Just Some Fuckhead
How dare you dredge up that childhood memory. Damn you…

Feeding the cats, cleaning house, reading a lightweight murder mystery, picking travel CDs since I learned this morning how to play them in the car–pretty embarrassing that I’ve had this car two years and it involves pushing one button (labelled CD) and sliding the CD in the slot. I had to do it–can’t listen to anymore news in the car. Road rage because of Republican congressional morons, libertarian walking dead, and tea partiests is not pretty. Can’t believe what a great mood I’m in after just one day’s abstinence.
Since I read Guardian headlines and Balloon Juice online I can’t totally escape but somehow the humor here makes it better. Usually.
Kewalo
Uh oh, I don’t know what happened to the link.

J. Michael Neal – Hacking the phones of family members of dead soldiers, to be accurate, although that hardly makes it any better.
But I agree with you that the title will probably fold, although Murdoch will launch a new Sunday title shortly afterwards if that happens. He better make sure that the damage is limited to the NotW and doesn’t spill over to the rest of NI. If this festers on there could be a widespread boycott of NI by both consumers and advertisers.
Just Some Fuckhead
@gbear:
My 50 year old brother just took up potholdermaking after a 40+ year hiatus and he is really enjoying it. Thinking about it myself because all my potholders look like shit and I’m always afraid to touch the food on the baking sheet with ’em for fear of contracting something deadly.
gbear
@Just Some Fuckhead:
I can’t tell you how many of those potholders my sisters and I made as kids. I’m actually surprised that it’s still around. As soon as I saw it I started thinking of colors and patterns we used to make. It might be good therapy to make some again…

Sorry, no “reply” button- browser brainfart?
Check out the BBC or the Independent or any other Brit news site.
The Brits are pissed.

The Brits have a reason to be pissed but imo, Murdoch will still be allowed to own Sky Broadcasting to spread his filth.

@gbear & Just Some Fuckhead @ 41:
A friend of mine’s sister who has Down syndrome made potholders for years and years. Lots and lots of potholders. Back in the early ’90s I was fortunate enough to get about 20 of them. They are the best potholders ever. They’re thick but flexible, not too big, not too small, and machine-washable. They also make excellent coasters for cold drinks or hot dishes.
I don’t know what the product description means by “wool” loops — my guess is it’s a synthetic. Cotton is the way to go.
