It brought tears to my eyes when I read it this morning. Sending warm hugs to the Tbogg family and Fenway.

So very sad to watch a beloved companion suffer. Here’s hoping for the very best result possible for Fenway. What a cool name for a pet, if you’re a Boston fan. Other stadiums just don’t offer such a cool opportunity, except maybe Wrigley. I mean, Safeco? Camden? Progressive? Angel is ok I guess, but it reminds me of a bad-tempered chihuahua I knew.
(I’m glad that Fenway is a dog, me being a rabid fan of a certain AL West team.)
It’s so hard to watch when your pet goes downhill. And TBogg has had such crappy luck recently. We lost Garp recently, but he was old and fat. Fenway is so young.
Meanwhile our rescue mutt continues to eat poison ant traps and dead squirrels and never slows down.

Fuck.
I saw from a comment over there that he was already exposed to the virus previously – so he has appropriate antibodies? I hope so.
Best wishes to dog and owner. Maybe if, as some have already said, we simply don’t allow anything bad to happen, it won’t. I hereby forbid anything but full and speedy recovery.
It appears that Fenway has acute prostatitis. We won’t know for sure until the lab results come back next Tuesday, but he has all the signs. He is on different antibiotics designed to penetrate the prostate, had to be pumped full of liquids again today because his temperature had risen to 104.5 (normal for a dog is 101) and is on fairly strong pain killers for the pain. If things turn out as we think, and he doesn’t go septic, he’s in for a long recovery lasting weeks. In fact, he’ll be on antibiotics for the next six to eight weeks. We were told that it will be about two weeks before he’ll seem like himself again. In the meantime I have a liquid diet for convalescing dogs to inject into his mouth until his appetite starts coming back.
…
Right now he passed out in one of his favorite spots because he’s really doped up, but at least he’s getting a well-deserved rest as will all of us. I haven’t slept for more than three hours in a row for two days now.
…
While were thankful to at least know what we’re dealing with, it’s still serious and we’re not out of the woods yet.
…
I’ll update as needed, and thanks (once again) for everyone’s best wishes.
…
Also, too: neutering is in his near future.

My pet medical drama pales in comparison to TBogg’s (so far. I hope). Fenway is so lovely.
