Anthony Weiner is an Idiot [Updated with video]

If you haven’t been following the clusterfuck online, Weiner just did a presser where he admitted he sent the photos. Prior to that, Andrew Breitbart randomly showed up and hijacked the presser for twenty minutes, crowing about how he deserves to be vindicated because of Leftist smears. Then Weiner took the stage, did the old Lewinsky two-step, complete with crying.

For fuck’s sake.

So to recap: It was Weiner’s junk; He’s had many inappropriate online relationships with young women; Breitbart FTW; Everybody Wang Chung tonight.

So now what?

As of this afternoon, no one in the MSM has bothered to report on the Clarence Thomas connection. I fully believe that Breitbart’s cronies knew for weeks about this Weiner business and timed it to distract from the real issue which, as Allan Brauer pointed out last week, is CLARENCE THOMAS. Whether or not Anthony Weiner is a dipshit for lying about his junk photos (and in my view he is, not because I give a shit what goes on between two consenting adults and the lies that inevitably result when a person is busted for their sexual chicanery, but because he wasted TEN DAYS that could have been spent finding another Democrat to pick up the Clarence Thomas ball and run with it), the fact remains that he is the only Democrat who was making a stink about the Friday evening Thomas financial document dump.

So now the MSM is going to kiss Breitbart’s ass while he crows about how awesome he is. And by the time the dust settles, not one person (besides Allan, apparently) will have examined just what the fuck is going on with Clarence Thomas and his Teabilly wife.

I hate everything.

And, of course, I want someone who’s not an utter moron given to behavior that begs for their humiliation to pick up on the substantive issues that this asshole’s human frailties have prevented from getting any attention.

There’s some unsavory news about Clarence Thomas???

Too bad there was no interweb back when old “Cooz” was sexually harassing women. We might have gotten somebody else on the Court. OTOH, that Justice might have been as bad or worse than Thomas. If that is possible, once you rule out Scalito.

    Right there with you.

Crap like this is how third party movements are born. It’s not that there’s no difference between Democrats and Republicans. That’s garbage. It’s that no matter how evil Republicans are, the Democrats are so bone-dead STUPID that you end up hating them nearly as much.

Here’s an idea: Require everyone in the Democratic Caucus to eat breakfast together three times a week and put some god-damned saltpeter in the coffee. Maybe if the Democrats could stop thinking about their penises, they could actually do their damned jobs.

I’ll get over it. I just have to avoid the news for a day or two.

You have perfectly summed up my feelings. I could throttle Weiner for giving Breitbart credibility just when it seemed he’d lost it for good. And did he not foresee that sexting with a stranger would bite him in the butt (excuse the visual)? Weiner sent the tweet of the picture. Breitbart’s cronies could not have timed Weiner doing that. It is simply a coincidence that Weiner screwed up on the same day Clarence Thomas did his latest document dump. It happened the way that Breitbart and Dan Wolfe (patriotusa76) said that it happened.

Something that is going unremarked is that Breitbart did throw Dan Wolfe under the bus. Breitbart started attacking him on Twitter and published private emails about Wolfe’s situation. In other words, BREITBART BEGAN TO DOUBT THE STORY AS WELL.

Yes, that’s the real crime here, to my mind, making Andrew Breitbart look like he knows anything about anything. Shit. Who knows how many decent people just trying to get by he’s going to smear and get fired before he goes down for good. It’ll be a lot more now that it turns out he was right about this.

Why didn’t Weiner just own up to it from the beginning? That might have helped it blow over sooner. Sometimes this kind of thing isn’t as riveting to our fearless press when there isn’t any conflict. If he’d just said, “Yeah, you got me. I sent it. I guess that wasn’t too bright, eh? Well, color me embarrased!” Then he could have faded into the background while somebody else took the lead with this Thomas thing. Now, who knows, his fair complaint about Thomas’s conflicts of interest might all end up looking less credible to the zombies in the press because he lied about his dick! He’s untrustworthy! I hope I’m wrong about that much at least, but I don’t know…

And this douchebag had the nerve to say that President Obama is “not a values guy”. Weiner is a liar and a hypocrite. His constant grandstanding and TV appearances have shown he’s more about self-promotion than anything else. He should resign for the good of his party and his constituency but narcissists aren’t good at giving up the spotlight. What a joke.

The French must think this is hilarious. A boner in underpants and all America gets the vapors. We are such ninnies.

This isn’t just about “a boner in underpants” as you so eloquently put it. It’s about hypocrisy and political fall-out. It’s also about decorum. I think these things are important in France as well.

They seem to have a higher tolerance for the shenanigans of politicians than we do. Yes, it is important but I think they’re a little more adult about putting the sex part in context.

Oh noes! he made a joke about jewish chicks not giving blowjobs, which means he’s ummmmmm racist against jews or something.

Ye gods! Every part of this scandal is boring and lame. The “pornographic” part could be shown on broadcast TV! The “racist” jokes are against his own group! He never even touched a freakin’ boob!

When you really take a step back and look at the thing, its a fucking popcorn fart.

I feel like a stronger person could have plowed through this with a “Yeah, thats my dong. So-fuckin’-what?” attitude.

    Agreed, ABL.

Somewhere, Clarence Thomas is laughing his ass off, because he knows that the media spotlight is sure as hell not going to be swinging in his direction anytime soon.

    @Anne Laurie:

I believe this is a variant of Rickyrah’s mom’s motto: Those of us in socially marginalized groups—like Democratic politicians facing a Repub-weighted media—have to be extra-cautious about our behaviour, even in nominally ‘private’ areas.

How much crack do you have to smoke to delude yourself into thinking there’s any such thing as a “Repub-weighted media” after this incident? You weren’t paying attention for the last week.

The Big Media Machine ignored the story for three days after it broke on Breitbart. Kurtz tweeted “it’s fake” (because Weiner had said so in a press release, and he read it on Kos, no doubt — JOURNALISM!).

Three right-blogs basically kept the story alive for four days, with Ace from Ace Of Spades hitting up Big Media Reporters on Twitter 24/7 with devastating, biting, satirical tweets outlining how they weren’t doing their jobs, pointing out how obvious it was that Weiner was lying. He knew he was getting through when a couple of credulous cover-jobs for Weiner (like WaPo’s “Lewd Photo Sent From Congressman’s Hacked Twitter”) were published on-line which suggested possible phony alibis for the Democrat which he hadn’t mentioned yet!

So Big Media ignored the story, then tried to cover it up, then made excuses for Weiner. Only when Weiner went in front of the cameras and made an idiot out of himself and called a CNN producer a “jackass” did the media start covering the story. Even then, Wolf Blitzer tried to get him off the hook with the most blatant softball interview of our time (setting the record for toad-iness by actually congratulating the Rep at the end!).

The point is, if your takeaway from this is “the media hates Weiner because they are all Republicans,” then you are a paranoid fantasist.

Agreed Weiner is an idiot and joins the ranks of idiot philandering politicians. There are just a few guidelines that these idiot politicians should follow: (1) Don’t sleep around, (2) If you can’t follow rule one, then get out of public life, (3) if you were too stupid to do rules one and two and get caught, do not try to cover it up–come clean and don’t, for the love of god, cry. Suck it up and accept the consequences.

because he wasted time. i really could care less about his apology. he needs to apologize to the american people for the distraction weinergate caused, not about weinergate itself.

I get the gist of your argument, but the only problem with this line of thinking is that it assumes that without the distraction the media would actually focus on substantive issues. They would not. The media would simply find another outrageous expose to cover. Stubstance is overrated.

I think you can forgive people,BUT what people often forget is that it doesnt mean the person is going to change,as a man I hope his wife who I have read is pregnant, takes this idiot to the cleaners and leaves him homeless.

If our politicians cant be faithful to their wives,do you really think they are going to be faithful to the american public???Dubocrat or republidumb doesnt matter,if they cheat they need to go,we need to restore honor and respect to washington, which is just a dream,a silly dream because we have already collapsed morally as a country, the economic “collapse”was secondary to a moral collapse.
