Thank you, Jon and the The Daily Show writers.
Part 1
Part 2
Sean Hannity is a racist asshole who associates with proud white supremacists. Once you understand that fact, you understand why this man has no capacity for honesty or shame. He routinely lies to paint Obama in a bad light, by shortening clips, taking comments out of context, and flat-out making shit up. This is what Fox News does. And this is why they must be stopped.

I’ve never heard of Hal Turner – I take it he’s a hardcore white supremacist from the text in the link (can’t watch the videos). Isn’t it possible, though, that he’s just trying to associate with Hannity in order to boost his own celebrity and ratings? Just asking.
Montysano
Paraphrasing Jon: “It’s not even fun anymore…. Mostly, we just feel sorry for you”. It was indeed a brilliant segment.
Maude
@Chris:
Birds of a feather.
When a US man was beheaded in Iraq, Hannity played the audio on his show and then the second day did a should he do that and played it again. It ws all aboutr Hannity and he is reprehensible.
Steve M.
Don’t forget Hannity’s relationship with the arch-racist Bob Grant, whose radio time slot Hannity filled, and whom Hannity worked to get back on the airwaves.
Maude
@Maude:
The edit never came up in time. Had 2 spell fails.

well so much for false equivalency ;-) and you hit these asshats between the eyes with their hypocrisy and they don’t even blink. So much for the moral/ethical high ground they supposedly inhabit, all because they lubs them some Baby Jeebus.
Brian R.
That was a thing of beauty.
Karl Rove calling Common a misogynist? Priceless.
Hannity getting exposed, once again, as a moronic hypocrite? Even better.
mikefromArlington
I hope Hannity rots in hell.
Emma
And the beat goes on… they act stupid, someone points out they’re acting stupid… they moan and bitch about being told they’re acting stupid… and then they pick something to be stupid about… rinse and repeat.
PurpleGirl
@Steve M.: Steve M is being modest: go to his blog and see/read a good long post about other presidents’/White House events with “bad” artists.
PurpleGirl
@Chris: No, he had his own local (?) radio show and is a dyed-in-the-wool racist asshole.
ruemara
@Chris:
He is currently on trial for threats etc to public officials.

kindness
@Chris: Hal Turner was a regular caller in to Hannity’s radio show and Hannity loved the guy.
Mike from DC
And let’s not forget Hannity’s treatment of Abner Louima after he was sodomized by a cop with a plunger. (search for louima in the following link and you’ll see the story). http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1158 Lemme tell ya, Hannity is all class.
Moonbatman
Knowing George W. Bush he had someone at the White House with backwards outrageous views like opposing interracial dating/marriage.
There would be no butthurt from the wingnuts about opposing interracial dating/marriage.
Peace Out. The Power is Yours. Free Crystal Mangum.
Comrade Mary
That was a great segment except for Jon’s rap at the end. Cringeworthy awkward white guy rap that both points out its sheer awfulness while expecting some applause for its merits just doesn’t work.
Still, it was really awesome otherwise.

Hal Turner is in prison.
On 21 December 2010, he was sentenced to 33 months in prison.
asiangrrlMN
@Comrade Mary: I loved his rap just for that reason. It was so bad.
But, yeah, Jon hits it out of the park with this bit. What really is the difference between Johnny Cash and Common? And, I love me some Johnny Cash.

Unfortunately, it no longer matters if their idiocy is pointed out, even in the plainest and simplest possible terms. Last night John had a post that included the line, “No fucking shame whatsoever.” That’s the new standard.
They know that their supporters literally do not care about facts, reason, common sense or truth any longer. Their supporters care about ‘us’ vs. ‘them’. Everything that doesn’t support ‘us’ is just a liberal plot to discredit conservatives.
I feel like at some point in the past decade or so, the conservative movement tried an experiment, pushing the bounds of acceptable discourse just a little bit too far. And what they found when they did so was not push-back from sane America, but instead confusion and retreat by sane America.
They learned that all the effort they’d been putting into lies and deception were unnecessary. You could openly declare your evil and not only would you not be censured, but your core audience would love you even more for it.
So no matter how much of a laughingstock Hannity becomes, the only effect will be to more firmly cement him as a prophet of the Right.

There’s really nothing that can’t be Shirley Sherroded now.
That said, Jon is masterful in showing us how old, stupid and useless Hannity is – and by extension how out of touch, moronic and self absorbed this whole posse of terrified aging yuppies are.
Fear sells, but really, nowdays, who’s buying?

Johnny Cash FTMFW.

“Men will not cease to be dishonest, merely because their dishonesties have been revealed…Wherever men hold unequal power in society, they will strive to maintain it. They will use whatever means are most convenient to that end and will seek to justify them by the most plausible arguments they are able to devise…When power is robbed of the shining armor of political, moral, and philosophical theories, by which it defends itself, it will fight on without armor; but it will be more vulnerable, and the strength of its enemies increased.” –Reinhold Niebuhr

Stewart can get on the nerves sometimes, but when he’s on point, he’s on point.
catperson
What a cutting edge message, ABL.
Joel
Karl Rove bears a strange resemblance to a Deep One.
Fred
Teabagging is for Kochsuckers.
cynickal
Good grief, is the only thing stopping Fox from burning crosses on air the studio fire codes?
BruinKid
So if you guys are interested, I transcribed the entire segment, including Jon’s awkward rap, over at the GOS.
urbanmeemaw
Rethuglicans are so cute when they try to rap. My dad said Republicans were always a beat off when they tried to clap to the music of the Mike Kerb Congregation, Pat Boone, or any of the other milquetoast acts that appeared at their
conventions. He found that a great source of amusement. Stewart’s piece was pure genius.
Cliff
I’m pretty sure Stewart’s rap at the end was supposed to be super awkward.
