Major development concerning Osama bin Laden

Obama’s going to make an announcement about Osama bin Laden.

I’m watching MSNBC and all I can say is, David Gregory is a very dumb sounding person. I may have to turn this off. Tell me what happened in the comments.

I have my own prediction since everyone else is jumping in. Birthers will tie this to the release of Obama’s long form birth certificate somehow. How much you want to bet. Apparently they killed Bin Laden a few days ago…..coincidentally around the same time the birth certificate came out…..lol!

Amazingly, this would be considered a somewhat tame dillusional connection by todays standards.

But the war is not over. There were other Al Qaeda leaders (esp. that guy from Egypt) and they’re going to want to keep fighting (and make Osama into a martyr… despite the fact the guy was hiding like a coward…). The fact that Bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan is not going to help our relations with that nation. Not to mention the Taliban/Pakistani Taliban are going to erupt in violence in all directions to prove they can do so.

Not to mention the craziness still going on in the Middle East, including the pseudo-war in Libya.

If he really did die in a “mansion” outside fucking Islamabad, the CIA might really be more incompetent than we ever could have thought. Either that or Pakistan is so much more tied into anything than we ever could have thought

The Guardian’s been saying that about Pakistan for some time, and hinting that the CIA likes it that way.

I’m glad OBL is demonstably dead, and hoping the stress of this announcement kills Darth Cheney’s mechanical heart as well.

Obama is a secret Muslim and was able to obtain information on where Osama was. Obama then ordered the military to take Osama out and keep it secret. Now Obama is releasing the information since he is now campaigning for reelection.

I gotta admit that she might be right on this…lol!

I hope they bury Osama face down. Might as well get him pointed in the right direction, eh? If there is a hell I hope that Osama is slow roasting on a spit in the lowest level.

Have fun running for president, asshole.”

  192. 192
    Triassic Sands says:

    @SIA:

I’m sure I’m not the first to say this, but BO just got reelected.

Nonsense. If Donald Trump had been president, he would have gone to the Pakistanis and said, “Listen motherfuckers, turn that sumbitch over to me tonight or I’m going to level your entire country with nukes. You have ten minutes…

Needless to say, Osama bin Laden would have been turned over immediately to Trump, proving that being a foul-mouthed bully willing to exterminated millions of people in the effort to get one is exactly what we need as president.

On a more serious note, the unemployment rate will very likely matter a lot more on election day than the nearly two-years old death of a terrorist, even bin Laden. Killing bin Laden while Obama is president is not going to change the mind of a single wing nut or ignorant independent voter. That’s because there is a substantial anti-Obama vote that can’t be touched by any event or development. If the economy is still bad enough, Obama will have an uphill fight to win reelection, though, I expect him to win a close election, as things stand right now.

In the end, I think his best chance of winning rests on how bad the Republican nominee is. Right now, it looks inevitable that they’re going to choose someone virtually unelectable. But there are Republicans who might beat Obama, if they decide to run. For example, I think NJ governor Christie’s nearly air-tight refusal was good news for Obama (and the rest of the world), but people have changed their minds before. Flip-flopping is not a capital offense in American politics.

Anyway, though I would love to believe you are right, I think you’re giving bin Laden’s death far more importance than it will have on election day 2012.

  193. 193
    roshan says:
