Scott Walker won’t be eligible for recall til 2012 but there are 8 Republican State Senators who can be recalled this year and two of them won narrowly the last time they stood for election. Democrats need three seats to take the state Senate but successfully recalling even one of these clowns would be a major victory.
The Wisconsin State Democratic party has a website where you can volunteer or donate to the effort and there’s an ActBlue page for donations as well.

Something I’ve been wondering about: If Walker eventually gets his bill passed, can it be reversed by a simple majority? And can they undo that nitwit ‘super-majority’ bill on taxes by simple majority?
Doug Hill
@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
Good question.
Sarah, Proud and Tall
The Good Book says that servants should be obedient and humble and should accept in good conscience what their master chooses to give them in return for the sweat of their brow.
So-called collective bargaining simply destroys the proper relationship between the master (who is appointed by God) and those who are bound to do his bidding, and leads all into sin.
Ash Can
@Sarah, Proud and Tall: You’re really good. You sound suspiciously like “David Koch.” If you’re him/her, I hope you don’t give up that gig — that one’s outstanding too. With all the crap in the news, we need all the laughs we can get.

I donated yesterday for this. This is a truly worthwhile effort. Fuck these bastards and the oligarchy they protect. Time to fight back.

I’ve never heard of any system where a decision enacted by a simple majority can’t be redacted by another simple majority of the same body. There are cross-body issues (a simple, simple in more ways than one, majority of California voters passed Proposition 13, so the legislature needs a 2/3 majority to increase any tax), but those wouldn’t be relevant here. On the other hand, obstruction is always easier than action, especially on an issue as easy to demagogue as taxes.
And can I just say that “Sarah, Proud And Tall” isn’t over-the-top enough to be very funny, but is not nearly subtle enough to be a convincing spoof, sort of an Uncanny Valley of comment trolling.

You know it’s a slow news day when the top article at CNN is a debate over the opinions of Bronze Age goatfuckers on human sexuality. I loved this part:
A Renaissance man!
I hope this didn’t offend Sarah, Proud and Tall. I’m trying to make a good first impression.

Thanks for the links Doug Hill(TM). And sadly, Gov. Kasich (elected with a gigantic 49% of the vote) is not subject to recall. So please keep OH in your thoughts, people.

My little sister is in Robert Cowles’ district. I just called and let her know she should sign the recall petition. She’s got a 5yo kid so she’s absolutely livid about what Walker/republicans are doing to school budgets.
edit: along with being livid, she’s scared to death about what’s going to happen in the next few years.

I am not David Koch or DougJ. I could never pretend to be someone whose name is a heterograph for the male gen***lia, or someone whose name sounds like a hip-hop artist from Idaho.
I hope you don’t laugh your way all the way to hell.

Of course, Wisconsin Repubs are working on recalling the gang of 14, so it’ll take more than capturing some of the Repub seats; Dems will have to hold onto the ones they have now.
Jim, Once
@Sarah, Proud and Tall:
OK, I don’t literally LOL when I read the comments here – but that one did it for me. You are having way too much fun with this, Sarah.

I read that they’ve raised over $600,000 as of yesterday, through Act Blue and another org that I can’t recall.

Sarah Proud and Tall had better get her jollies in quickly, because the other Sarah is very, very protective of her brand.
But, seriously, a “hip hop artist from Idaho”? ROFL

Actually winning any of the seats would be great, but the process will take up to six months. A credible threat (that is, a well-funded and visible one) could have much more immediate impact by getting some of these jokers to cast a self-preserving No vote.
PaulW
@Boudica:
Good point, but I think only 5 of them qualify for the recall (there is that one year grace period). And the way things are going in Wisconsin, I’m not sure the Republicans will be able to get enough signatures to… oh right, they can cheat. Right. Hoo boy.

I went to Uncanny Valley once in primary school on a religious retreat. It didn’t end well. Sister Maria Luigi warned everyone about going down to the pool, but Sarah Powell didn’t listen to her, and Father McKinney got her.
It was very sad.

I don’t live in Wisconsin and have no say, but I’ve been wondering for a couple of days now, regarding this recall issue, if righties wouldn’t start a boatload of nuisance recalls against Dem officials in retaliation. Because that’s how they roll.

I don’t hold with anything that’s not in the Pentateuch, so I will ignore that one.
The first Deuteronomy is about cows, and if you don’t know the difference between cows and people I don’t hold out much hope for you.
The second Deuteronomy talks about a servant who is “poor and needy” and no one would describe a teacher who works ten weeks a year and gets paid $150,000 a year as that.
Leviticus just says that if you are going to pay your servant his wages it has to be paid promptly, not that you are not allowed to pay them scale, or in food, for example.

My suspicion is that if the recall movement gains any traction, the Senate GOP leaders will move to expel one or more of the 14 Democrats.

You think elected officials who go to work and propose and vote on bills they think are good deserve to be recalled over those who don’t like the bills proposed and flee the state and refuse to go back to work? – kind of an adult version of “gimme my ball, I’m going home.”
Trolling is so much fun! Can I use that as a verb, or is it a noun? Or both?
I’m with the R’s on this one, even though I’m not an R. I hate unions, teachers, the elderly, children, workers of the world (whether they unite or not), hospitals, day care centers, muslims…hmm, did I miss anything? I hope they tear down the whole system and just wreck the country. It won’t accomplish anything productive…obviously…but it’s just so much fun to ruin the country for no reason!
Or so you juicetards think. Maybe they just have a different idea of how to right this sinking ship, and maybe they’ve decided it’s time to stop the bleeding that was caused by the progressives that you juicetards support with blind ignorance and useful idiocy loyalty to the Party.
This site is just like the uprisings in Egypt and Libya! Form blazing sword!

@Sarah, Proud and Tall: I thought ‘minor theological disputes’ were the whole reason 15 or 20 Protestant denominations came into being. How does a Free Will Baptist differentiate themselves from an Assemby of Godder (Western-Palinist) if not for those Godly disputes?
